What a garden you got there. It needs lots of TLC and that's what it's gonna get! Your wisteria vine is such a welcoming site when in bloom. Bamboo is beautiful but it is also such an invasive species. There are some really good videos here on YT showing how to control or even eradicate it where it is not wanted. I am looking forward to see the 3D models for house and garden. Thank you for showing us this gem of a property.
Yeah it’s a beautiful wisteria Definitely keep it looks amazing I’d look at taking some of them tall trees out , roots will be growing near the house & with it being 303 yrs old probably no footings 👀
The purple flowing vine is called wisteria and is very common here in Northern California. It is often grown over a trellis or an arbor, but can damage structures so be carful and prune it as needed,
You have a lovely garden! The bamboo is a terrible plant and it takes over the whole garden. You have to take out the roots to get rid of it. But its up to you ofcourse. The purple Wisteria is lovely. But it needs a guideline. This plant can become very big and very old. The pool emptying is smart.
thanks. I don't think we can take out all the bamboo, but we will definitely have to contain it somehow. We will see if the emptying of the pool makes a difference!
well at first our priority is to make more space in the house available, so build a room and a bathroom in the upper floor and then build the new larger kitchen (as you can see in episode 3). But we will do some work in the garden in between I think. For example getting a place ready for campers is a priority as well. And it will all also depend on how many people want to come and help and what they are into. if someone wants to come an help for a while and is enthusiastic about the garden it will be different to when someone is really into woodworking or so...
While you are in the beginning stages of videotaping renovations, I'll make one request. Some channels play loud, jangly, somewhat screechy and repetitive music as background for time lapses. If you choose soft or happy or harmoniously melodic music instead, I will be very grateful. Of course, your voice providing explanations will always be welcome, too.
I feel the same way and decided to only use music that was played either by myself or someone I know. I used to run a different channel some years ago called @canoeconcerts (check it our, there is some amazing artists on it), and I actually had the idea to invite musicians to spend some time in the house and then record some music for the videos.
Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, the next video will be even more talking and showing what we have planned for the house. It will be a while before there is more footage of actually renovating since we are still in the process of moving. What would you like to see more of? Any good channels you follow, from which I could learn?
@@oinatao The talking is not the problem. The OP means your face is too close too often, it gets too much. I agree, just use a more wide angle and you are fine if you think you need to speak to us directly. Better to minimize the "talking to the camera" as your voice-over is normally enough to inform us, and just shoot what you talk about at the same time as the subject. The OP was extremely blunt and over the top. Good riddance! We all need time to learn and your house is plenty interesting to keep us on board. Have a nice day 🍺
Hi I don't necessarily agree with the comment re your face , but as to a channel on youtube that I follow m.youtube.com/@livingtheskyelife a young couple who have moved to a cottage, they have a good balance of talking direct to camera, and using a camera stick for filming, you might learn something from there, or even if not, you might like to watch some of the renovation work. Good luck :-)

thank you. the bamboo is really beautiful in some places, but in others it's like you say. we really need to control it!

Definitely keep it looks amazing

Please do a timelapse of the garden cleaning i love those
good idea.
Beautiful and thank you for the tour.
Thank you for watching!
It's really going to be a beautiful place. But you have to DIG out all the roots, or they will come back again. Much love from Oklahoma USA Jackie 🇺🇸💖
oh yes, we will have a lot of digging to do...
So much potential 😊....those trees on the Northern side where the swing is , are crying out for a couple of hammocks 😁 ✌
100% true...I would actually love to make a tree platform there, but that is still up for debate.

Are you planning to focus first on the house and then the garden, or will you go back and forth as you make improvements?

Wanted to watch and follow but if all videos are 80% of your face talking to the camera; no thank you.
Best of luck for you in the future!
