Fascinating to see the different applications of the forms. So much cool "hidden" stuff. I've watched a few others and they all have slightly different applications. Not all are super useful but still interesting to see and learn.

Cảm ơn thầy vì đã tận tâm chia sẻ những kiến thức bổ ích về ứng dụng của những động tác trong các bài quyền vịnh xuân. Nó thực sự rất sâu sắc và quí giá đối với em vì em đã bỏ tập vịnh xuân một thời gian dài ko phải vì chán nản mà vì mất định hướng ko biết phải tiếp tục thế nào.
E có cơ hội được học vịnh xuân ở nước ngoài gần 2 năm và cũng luyện tập thường xuyên những bài quyền đó. Những thầy giáo hướng dẫn của em cũng ko thể giải thích một cách tường tận về ý nghĩa của từng đòn thế. Nhưng em vẫn luyện tập kiên trì vì có môi trường tập luyện và yêu thích môn võ này. Đến khi du học về thì e k có ai luyện tập cùng và cũng dừng từ đó.
E cũng có biết một vài người dạy vịnh xuân ở vn và cũng từng tập một thời gian trước khi đi du học nhưng e cảm thấy mình k phù hợp với phong cách tập luyện của họ, nó ko thực tế và quá khác so với những gì e được học ở nước ngoài.
Đến khi tình cờ xem được clip hướng dẫn của thầy thì e mới tìm lại được động lực tập luyện vì thầy đã giúp em mở mang tầm mắt và trả lời những câu hỏi mà ngày xưa e luôn tự hỏi mình mỗi khi tập luyện tiểu niệm đầu, tầm kiều hay mộc nhân.
Mặc dù e chưa có cơ hội được gặp thầy nhưng thông qua những chỉ dạy tận tình của thầy với học trò e rất yêu mến và kính trọng thầy. Em cũng tự hào vì có một người việt nam am hiểu về môn võ này như thầy và chia sẻ cho những người khác. Cho phép em gọi thầy là thầy với tất cả lòng kính trọng của mình. Chúc thầy và gia đình có nhiều sức khoẻ và tiếp tục truyền cảm hứng cho mọi người. E mong được xem những video tiếp theo của thầy, cũng như có cơ hội được gặp thầy khi thầy về vn :)

But r they correct ??? Anyone can show you what they think in terms of their renditions? But are they really that linearly applied.

Hi Master Sonny. Thank you for your chum Kiu applications. I have never seen this idea from the chum Kiu form when both arms go forward that you can use as contact and trap. I have trained with many wing chun instructors in my 33 years of wing chun experience and nobody has given a true application to this movement.
My opinion is that there are many instructors out there that teach wing chun don't really know any true applications at all behind each movement within the 3 hand forms.
I like to thank you also for your applications on the Dummy Form which you explain each movement and applications. I have learnt a lot.
Would you be doing the the rest of the wooden dummy applications in the future as I am very interested to know the applications.

Glad to hear to do WC 33 years...WC teach us the formulas of motions just same math formulas....application are just like numbers....if you understand the math formulas then you can use them more comfortable and more dynamic....
I will try to post up some more when I teach some other private students and have their consent to share their clips...

When your opponent is guarding in a boxer hands position, and you try to rush in and jam his hands with your hands, naturally and probably instinctively your opponent would shoot out a jab or both a jab and a cross at you in response, and your opponent also might be faster than you because he is waiting for you but you have to travel and rush in.
Wing Chun is supposed to be invented by a woman(a nun) , and a woman surely understands that the muscle strength and power level and stamina are quite a big difference between men and women, therefore the nun who had invented Wing Chun for sure would put great emphasis to fight and win over a man with skills and techniques rather than brutal force and head on type collision. Hard style Wing Chun works when your opponent is equal or smaller in size compared to you, but if your opponent is bigger , stronger, tougher than you, the outcome might be different. In turn of speed, actually the softer, the more relax would be the better and faster, simple physics .
There is no historical evidence for that story. The first documented evidence is the Red Boat where wing chun appeared first. But you are right. Wing chun is not a hard style. I guess this application is kind of an interception concept. I tested it in sparring and with slight angle approach I worked well. The job the opponent may shoot out gets jammed.

Well, to answer that "Why?", sometimes just blocking a guy's arms attempting to reach you is the best thing to do first, instead of directly hitting him in the face. You can even block him to then pull him down, depending on the position of his body and head, or go at an angle and push him away and much more. Punching someone that is not a real match, may have very bad consequences. If you can just slap him some times if he persists or anything else than hurting him bad, it would be a more moral and wiser thing to do. If he's a real threat, ok, hit him first. -Other than that, everything is fine.
Trap the structure, then the attack. Make sense.
no trapping then you hit him, he hit you....whoever throws more hit and stronger will win the fight.
Incorrect use of jum sau
Just because the form use left and Right hands together NOT NECESSARILY MEANS THE APPLICATION IS 2-HANDED. YOUR INTERPRETATION IS TOO LINEAR !! One look at your weapon collection, and to some extent, your 精武-liked uniform, one could surmise you came from a 外家拳 foundation...but 內家 is a totally different beast !!
teaching wing chun is like teaching somebody math...even if you are an PHD in math you still should be able to teach high school level in math succesfully.
Teaching math to high school students should not be too complicated so they will feel it is too hard and quit enjoying math....
keep the advance math logics to teach university students who already have been familiar and can process further to learn math advance....
student in the clip is just learn some private classes and all he needs some basic skills for his security job....
All concepts Loy Lau Hoi Sung, Lut Sau Jik Chung in Chum Kiu will be taught in more details in next level and in regular classes with other students....
Dont assume too early you know everything and criticize others....it just show your understanding of wing chun is not deep enough to discuss.

@@NorthYorkWingChun I m 65 years old and had done wing chun daily for close to 50 yrs. I never taught wingchun as a livelihood and I don't envy those who need to. I was tutored by 5 direct and earlier students of Yip Man and one lineage from 廣州， this opportunity had give a well-rounded and composite insight of wing chun as a true 內家拳術。 so far, of what I have seen, none, in philosophy, interpretation and equipment setup, fit into that realm of thinking. To know that you had dabbled into Tai Chi before, I expect to see more influence and traces of internal art, but all I saw was almost karate Kata like interpretation of all techniques. levels aside, a good proper beginning is key for starters, your way already had pointed them to a un-promising direction at the get go.

As far as I know, None of them mention much about internal beside Chu Shung Tin....if you are confident you are well-rounded then show us a clip of you teachor training or elaborate the 1st section of Chum Kiu with your interal knowledge....to share with everybody....of how to use it...
I dont have to compete to be better than anyone, I'm 50 and I have started learning martial arts since I was 6 and have been doing wing chun for the last 35 years . Practicing, learning and teaching wing chun is a part of my life....I just love it...simple...
if you can make it better, do it....help people to understand and use it better....they will thank you for your contribution...and also for your information I dont have to teach wing chun to earn the living....I have a professional career and a business to run.

Lok Yui was my first teacher, Ho Lam Ming was also my teacher, and Leung Shang, before his passing, gave me a 8mm black and white home movie featuring his unique 3rd form and woodman, my other teaching were from the members of HK police force who got their WC skills from Yip Man directly when Yip was teaching at the academy. My other lineage was from Kwok Wan Ping of Kwong Chou Wing Chun. I have had a unique vantage points and experience from all these mentors and had had the pleasure of attending 3 of the Grandmaster birthday dinners. Plus, had met and conversed with the Late Bruce Lee on 2 occasions (though not martial art but business related).In terms of Hawkins, Yip's brothers, WSL and Sho Shan Tin etc and their wc skills, I would rather refrain from judgement as it would not be nice. So, not that I know what real is, but having seen and touched true masters, I do know what IS DEFINITELY NOT. Yes, to answer you directly "I do have,without a doubt, more WC knowledge and depth then these" Coincidentally, you and Master Wong (UK) wing chun seem to have identical interpretation of WC with a lot of Vietnamese influence, wc might work for you in your ways, but it definitely is a shallower and skin-deep understanding. Pardon my forwardness.
oh, about sharing !! it would take 10 videos on just 拳架身法 only， forget about forms, axioms 訣 only. I reckon it will take 50 videos to do a reasonable good job on the subject matter.
