Hi Lois lovely to be able to catch up with you again...lazy Sunday morning here...renovations on hold while Australia slowly comes back to life after our Christmas break.hope your are staying safe and wishing you a great 2021....😘😘as usual love your work
Hi Lois here from Jupiter Fl. I just enjoy your command of brush use coupled with the natural flow or nature of watercolors as an art medium. Thank you for sharing your great talent with art lovers. I recently returned from a visit to the Grand Canyon in the state of Arizona. I would love to watch you demonstrate the cliffs and sunset at the canyon. Your art speaks to me. Thank you Linda Dudiak
lois you never fail to produce exciting methods of painting for me and many others. you have opened a book we dont have to struggle to understand without reading. thank you.
This Texas Guy thanks you for sharing your knowledge of watercolor painting i have enjoyed watching this year have a wonderful New Year.Love the distance and sky you painted.
Lovely , a very interesting and innovative use of the calligraphy brush too , helpful to we amateurs . Thank you for showing this . It took me ages to realise I could separate the joined-up bamboo brushes if I wanted , lol .
If I learned watercolor painting I'd try to paint like these. Love the earth tones, and what seems to me to be a minimalist approach, but mostly the composition and subjects of these landscapes. Great foreground and distance in so many of these, as prairie, desert, and sea can have. Very nice to look at!
It's the nicest painting I've done. I've tried oils acrylics and watercolours and I love the watercolours. You make it so easy and effective. Thank you Lois. Catherine
Hey Gary It is indeed a joy to watch her unique style of watercolors. Loved the the sky and the foreground green, The highlights and the fencing running down into the river, Happy New year stay blessed stay connected #artistsatwork53
Thank you Lois for sharing your art skills with us during this unusual year. Very refreshing and educational. Wish you health for this new year and looking forward to more or your videos. Gilles from Montréal Canada
Thank you,Lois. I love the looseness you portray in your watercolours. I have learnt alot, watercolour is my favourite medium. Kind regards from the Midlands of Natal, South Africa.
Dear Lois love your style and the subtle colors of your painting, the sky is brilliantly done and so is the foreground, The highlight is your little fence leading into the river, love your work, your new friend full support, Happy New Year, Stay blessed stay safe #artistsatwork53
Thank you for sharing with us on here Lois. I”m new to watercolor, and watching some of these videos show how great a painting you can get with such simplistic drawings/views . Learning the colors and the mixing and layering. Best Wishes for you in 2021 🎉✨
So beautiful! You are my favorite. I’ve learned so much from you and look forward to learning more this next year. My New Year will be myself, the 2 dogs and painting! Happy New Year from Oklahoma, USA !
I've been an artist all my life that I can remember, and in the school days it was watercolor. Now in my days passing middle age, I paint with acrylics mostly, though I keep telling myself I will use the wonderful Daniel Smith watercolors I bought semi-recently :) I love Lois' style of watercolor painting and watch every video. And I just love listening to her videos, too. She is some sort of paradigm breaker for me. When she said "rich mixture" in this particular video I realized that English, too, is a romance language, as much as French and Spanish, and probably Italian, though I have no school background in it. Here in Texas, of course, I'm constantly exposed to a "rich mixture" of dialects, and I don't really consider them English used in a Romance Language fashion, or particularly approaching it, all that much, y'all :) My mother was a University English professor and tried to train the West Texas drawl out of me and my sister. She did have some success, though usually when people from other places hear us, they say, "Oh I love your accent" or something less complimentary to the hicks from Texas. But thanks to Lois, I now see English in an even more favorable light than before. She's not the first English speaker I've ever heard, of course, far from. Something just clicked in a way it hadn't quite. It's just a very interesting video now. I get to enjoy Lois' paintings and her beautiful use of the English language, too. Thank you, Lois :)
HAPPY NEW YEAR !! Thank you for a lovely way to end a very sad and scary year Lois. This English landscape is just beautiful with your loose technique. You feel like you are right there. LOVE your style and your voice is so calming.....love hearing kitty in the background too! Lol. Happy painting in 2021!
Very helpful videos. My problem here in Western Australia is that the temperature is forty degrees, the paper is hot and the paint is dry before I can do much blending. I really soak the paper, and have tried misting it, but still have great difficulty in getting the paint to move around.
Derek Longhurst It must be awful for you spending Christmas in the garden around a barbecue while we are locked indoors away from the snow, ice and freezing rain. Good luck friend, keep soldiering on. 👍😂😂
Thanks Lois for these great videos! I really appreciate you sharing these beautiful processes, and I hope to learn much more from you in 2021. Greetings from Finland, have a happy new year!
Thank you for your tutorials Lois, they have helped keep me sane during the year. I love your work and style, its beautiful. Have a great New Year and looking forward to seeing your future tutorials x
You 've done a great job of combining the two photos, Lois. I love this loose style. Very nicely done. Thank you. I agree that pulling the tape off just "finishes" it. Happy New Year! :D
Thanks Lois. This is nice. I have loads of skies... When I come to finish the picture they all go wrong. I end up using them for pastels; which also works for adding highlights. I also like your limited palette. It suits the impecunious like me; I can't afford too many colours anyway! Thanks again and a Happy New Year. John in Brum.
Beautiful work! What kind of "large calligraphy brush" did you use? It looks like it has wonderfully soft and absorbent bristles. Also, did you just use masking tape to fix the paper to your board? Did you stretch the paper or did it not need it because it wasn't "too wet"? Thanks for this wonderful and inspiring art!
@@LoisDavidsonArt cool. I just ordered my first Ron Ranson Hake brush size 1-1/4". Im excited to use it. Thank you for your videos. They are relaxing and inspirational!
Thank you Lois. I learn a lot from watching your videos. It takes the fright out of the white page. Do you stretch your paper so it does not buckle? Your paper is perfect at the end of the painting
Love the softness of the scene.
A lovely painting of a beautiful part of the world. I haven't visited for a number of years, but it makes me want to come again.
Really nice and gentle painting with great atmosphere.
You are the best water colour painting teacher
What a beautiful simplicity! True beauty of watercolour !

Lovely Lois. also one of my favourite local places ! 🍒😍

Just discovered your tutorials on RUclips. Excellent instruction. Thank you for sharing your talent. How doI find out about Paterson?
Thank you, you can follow the link in the description below the videos to find out about Patreon

Thanks so much, all the best to you for the coming year!
Hi Lois - love your videos. Just started watercolour painting. Where can I find the type of palette that you use? Many thanks -Pete
Lois, do you stretch your paper.. I may have not seen reference to that yet in your other videos..Enjoyed this one thankyou. Its now July.
I don't stretch my paper. I tape it to my board, it buckles a bit as I paint, but then mostly flattens as it dries
It's a 3" goat hair brush and I don't pre-stretch my paper, i allow it to buckle and the tape holds it firmly and it flattens out as it dries
greeeeat
Is that a Winsor Newton hake brush, or another brand?
It will be either Pro Arte Ron Ranson hakes or unbranded Chinese hakes
@@LoisDavidsonArt cool. I just ordered my first Ron Ranson Hake brush size 1-1/4". Im excited to use it. Thank you for your videos. They are relaxing and inspirational!

Thank you Lois. I learn a lot from watching your videos. It takes the fright out of the white page. Do you stretch your paper so it does not buckle? Your paper is perfect at the end of the painting
Thanks so much, I don't pre-stretch it, when taped the 140lb paper buckles a little as I paint, but dries flat. Happy New Year!
