Those commercial, blue paper towel rolls would be an idea if this is an every other day task I'm thinking. Would save having to keep and clean so many rags/towels. Obviously you don't want little bits of paper towel left inside before spaying, so a good look over after, or perhaps just a few quick puffs from a small air compressor or even a small battery powered leaf blower after would be a way to go!
Hello guys, I love the foil drive it's so much fun thanks. I have been a bit lazy with the cleaning 🙄 Can I recoat the drum myself with epoxy resin ? rather than buy a new one ? Just wondering if you can recommend a product to use I live in the UK. Thanks again what a brilliant product 👍
Hey Steve, sure can! Feel free to email us some images so we can make a better assessment for you, otherwise this article here might help: help.foildrive.com/en-US/full-motor-refurbishment-188921 You'll be after a 2 part epoxy resin. Instructions in the article - Caitlyn
@@foildrive Thanks for the reply , I really appreciate that. I won't need to send photos as the in-depth instructions you have provided will be more than sufficient. So impressed with the foil drive and your commitment to customer satisfaction 😎✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅✅
we have Foil Drives that get used heavily and are more than 3 years old. Batteries are consumables and depending on use and ow they are stored, will vary in their useful lifespan and it's also worth noting that parts like the rotor may need maintenance however this is why these parts are accessible. A little like owning a boat or a Jetski, there will always be some parts that require servicing.
I wish you told us this before my motor got stuck while sitting in a cabinet for 2-3 month.. Is there any instructions on how to make it separate once it rusted in place?
We sent out an email as soon as this information was available, are you subscribed to our mailing list? This article has some information on separating the stator from the rotor: help.foildrive.com/en-US/removing-the-circlip-&-separating-motor-parts-188944
As mentioned in the video, we have instructionals available for existing customers. Please send us an email to support@foildrive.com and we can send over all the information!
Be very careful when putting the motor can back on. The magnets are very strong and can damage the bearings if allowed to snap back. Hold tight my friends.
Hey everyone! We've had some questions about an equivalent to WD40 lanolin that we have here in Australia that isnt available globally. We've done some hunting and this is available on Amazon for those who cannot access WD40 Lanolin: www.amazon.com/Fluid-Lubricant-Corrosion-Inhibitor-11-75/dp/B00PWZ0XNM/ref=sr_1_12?crid=3CNGK32RHLPY&keywords=lanolin%2Bspray&qid=1676249462&sprefix=lanolin%2Bspray%2Caps%2C367&sr=8-12&th=1&fbclid=IwAR3UCzby3a5hpA4n375lnQTEdsDl_b2LIjjTgXCo-VcGpX9-M6u47WJ3eJM If you’re looking for other alternatives, some things to keep in mind are: Non toxic Non hazardous No solvents Lanolin is derived from sheeps wool
Just serviced my motor followed all the instructions absolutely no problems . Thanks Paul and Ben
Thanks mate! Glad it was straightforward
Thanks for the tips
Great tips guys, it's very important to keep salty water away from the motor for long happy use!
What do you have to use to lubricate the ball bearings? Can you use the same lanolin stuff or is it better to use teflon or something alike?

Thanks for the tips. Can regular lanolin oil (non spray on) be used (ie wipe in on with a paper towel or rag)?
Yeah for sure. Getting a nice layer of protection is whats important!
I cannot pull the stator off, no matter how hard I pull, any advice for removing it?
My understanding is I need to remove my circlip and leave it off. Please give me a link to instructions on how to remove my circlip. Thanks.
send us an email to support@foildrive.com and we can send you all the how-to info.

The lanolin isn’t available in the US. Any alternative recommendations? WD 40 makes a corrosion inhibitor & white lithium grease.
Is it okay to use regular WD40 instead?
How long should a foildrive normally last if maintained propperly? Not to pin point but to heave an idea😊

Intergrated mast system??
keep your eyes peeled in the next day or two! ;)

I think you need to clarify how to get the rotor off because mine won’t budge!

Lowe's carries this in the US as well.
Not available in Europe - can you please make some more recommendations? Thanks
If you search for 'Fluid Film' AS-R' on Google you will find some shops who send to Europe.
