    I hated maths so much in high school that I didn't take any math units in year 11 and 12 but with a little extra study (not even a crazy amount) and I managed stats at uni just fine. Don't let stats turn you off an undergrad in psych. It's manageable and certainly not the hardest subject I took for my psych undergrad.

      this is a very late reply, but thank you, Sophie, I really needed to read this! after hearing that I needed to take a stats course for my psych degree back in 10th grade, not gonna lie, I freaked out. a lot. I'm quite bad at math, so I don't know how I'll do. but hearing those stories of so many people who aren't that quite fond of math, actually do well in stats in uni, gives me hope I can pass and take the class and get it done with. (there's another psych class in my program that heavily focuses on stats, scared for that one also...) I'm currently in my first semester of my psych degree, having a rough start as it's my first year but looking forward to the rest of it!

    Why is clinical psychology so female dominated, and do you think it would sit well with males like myself?
    Thanks!

    Doesnt psychologist/psychiatry job need an analytical mind? if so, why do most psych students despise Stat?

    • @ciobalina7445
      @ciobalina7445 4 месяца назад

      Because most are women who hope to never have an actual job. They're trying to avoid any type of actual difficult intellectual work or just work in general and think psychology is just about talking about "feelings". That's why many change their mind regarding what job to pursue after they graduate university.

    Hi! Not sure if you’ll see this, but can APAC accredited university courses be used in every state in Australia? Like if I get an APAC accredited psychology degree in Queensland, can I use it to study a masters / become a psychologist in Victoria? :)

    I'd really like to ask one question. I want to know if I should go back to therapy. I was doing therapy for a while, and I thought it was going well, but shortly after diagnosing me with avoidant personality disorder the therapist told me we should take a break, and I never heard from him again. I feel like he gave up on me. I don't know if it was meant to be a test, or just bad practice, but it seems to me like that is the worst thing you could do to a patient after diagnosing them with avoidant personality disorder. Now I don't know if I should contact that therapist again "its been like 5 years", or if its even worth doing therapy at all.

      A bit late but why not try a new therapist?
      Edit: by late i mean my reply lol not the therapy, it's never too late to get it!

    • @TheNeoLoneWolf
      @TheNeoLoneWolf Год назад

      @@Blanche_255 After 3 different therapists have quit seeing you because they don't think they're helping, but you still feel like shit, and it costs you $250, or more a month you really question if its worth doing.

    Possible Trigger Warning
    I'm going to start my psych degree next year, but I look into some important people in psych history in my free time.
    This question is kind of specific, and I'm sorry if it's heavy but it's something I'm really interested in. I started watching the crash course series you guys talked about and in one of the videos, they mentioned Alfred Kinsey - the father of sexual psychology whose research influenced a lot of studies in psych and modern American culture, and I recently heard that, though it's not talked about much, his research was fraudulent and he got his interviews from child predators and molesters in prison rather than random American citizens, as well as other disturbing things that there was proof of in one of his famous books. And I was thinking, if his research was so revolutionary to that field of modern psychology, has anyone talked about it in uni, if you learned about him at all? He was an important figure, but I wonder if anyone in the psychology field or university is trying to rethink our knowledge on that part of psychology if it's true that such an important part of its beginning/basis was based on lies/fraudulent research?
    I would really like to know if we'll learn about him in uni. Or if there have been other circumstances like this.
