19:24 I believe right here, They're not far from the tornado, not close either, they're inside of the tornado. You see, the main condensation funnel is about a quarter to a half mile away, they're overtaken by the invisible outer edge. Dan Robinson who was also caught within the tornado describes it best when he said, "When a tornado gets rain wrapped, you just see rain curtains. And most of the time, the tornado is somewhere in that rain curtain. But for the El Reno tornado, the entire rain wrap was the tornado." That's why this was (In my opinion) the most dangerous tornado to ever happen on our planet. The outer invisible edge in this shot extends for a mile, and they get caught in the south east rim of it. It happened to many more people. Brandon Sullivan and Brett Wright, (Who I believe are on the same road) Mikey Gribble and Matt Goltl, The Weather Channel Crew, (Led by Mike Bettes and Kevin Parrish) Emily Sutton, Brendon Lindsey, Richard Henderson, (Who would be killed by one of the sub vortices) Twistex Team, (Tim Samaras, Paul Samaras, and Carl Young would also be killed by the same sub vortex) And Dan Robinson. And almost all of them had no idea that the tornado was much larger than they thought before they were brutally blasted by tornadic winds of 120 miles per hour. Had Greg and his crew taken their foot off the gas they would have most likely not have survived, and would have joined in heaven with Richard, Tim, Paul, and Carl.
There was also the french channel chronique chaotique (originally they chased thunderstorms in french) on that road for a time before they made a turn that saved their life because otherwise they would have be on the same road as the twistex team They managed to capture beautiful footage of the tornado without getting stuck inside where the many F3 funnel sprung around But they also had no idea of the real widths of the tornado at the end of their video you can see a map with the route they took compared to the twistex crew It was Aldi their second time only in America were they chased the F5 tornado Moore so they so to speak were mostly new to the party

After having years of watching Channel 9 storm chasers, their videos are mounted on outside & inside their vehicles & it’s a much better experience seeing their footages. Hopefully you guys have improved on your videos. I don’t like seeing the inside of your cars & with everyone talking & the sound was garbled. Improve your equipment so we can actually see the clouds, tornadoes & what’s going on outside instead of seeing the action inside at the back of the seats! I know you don’t have the funds needed to keep better videos but hopefully it has improved since the El Reno tornado! Good luck in the future & your videos will have become better.
If one was to count the touchdowns of each vortex as an individual tornado, as in the beginning of its motion, the front passenger was looking at its front wall and said TWINS!,now its clear that the mass that is its whole was far to big to adjust their depth of perception, and soon they recognize the tornado as one huge rotation giving birth to hundreds of spiral vortexs dotting its perimeter, and who could count the inner twisters touching down and sucking back up
This tornado was the main reason I don’t trust damage reports as a reliable rating system for ranking tornados. We have reliable mobile doplar now that can tell us the wind speeds, damage is so unpredictable especially with construction, multiple vortices etc. part of why we haven’t “seen” an ef5 in forever even tho we’ve seen twisters with those wind speeds
If this tornado struck a city, it would have been catastrophic, but it's in a field, killed THREE experienced chasers. F3. Wtf ever. I guess it doesn't matter though what rating it gets. It was horrible enough
Chris is like, what am I doing with these amateur's?! I use to ridie with the best, Timmer and Joel, Matt and more.. Are these guy's from Canada? I think I caught a bit of an accent.. Great ride! 🌪️🤗🌪️
@@Jero-P I gotcha, it's a miracle it didn't hit a city at 2.6 miles wide. They need a new method for classifying tornadoes. I used to watch those guys on Storm Chasers on the discovery channel. That was a sad day.
El Reno and many other examples are to me illustrations of why both the EF scale and rate-by-damage-only system seriously need to be revisited and reformed. El Reno was not an EF-3, everyone knows it wasn't, yet we're all supposed to pretend it was just because there was nothing but meadows and farmland in its way. This was understandable in the days before doppler but now, unless the case can be made that doppler readings on wind speed are wildly unreliable -- and I am no doppler radar-ologist, maybe they are -- I think they need to be included along with damage in the process of rating a tornado. Granted the readings are well above ground level in most cases -- due to friction it will be lower at ground level where it matters -- but I think it's possible through wind tunnel experiments, etc, to figure out a ground friction coefficient, eg: 200 mph reading at 3,000 ft - 10% = 180 mph at ground level. My reasoning for reviewing the EF scale is: (a) I think the original F scale was closer to the truth. An EF-3 twister is supposed to be 136-165 mph. But the freaky phenomena very common with even EF-3's -- curtains sucked through window frames, pine straws driven through car bodies and metal shovels, etc -- rarely if ever occur even with high Cat 4 to low Cat 5 hurricanes which are officially in that same velocity range. (b) Given that we at least have several tornadoes by now dopplered at or above 300 mph, it makes no sense that the EF scale has no rating above 5. The rating goes up a magnitude every 30-35 mph but becomes an open-ended at the EF-5 threshold of 200 mph. If the dopplers are even remotely accurate, there have been many tornadoes well beyond 235 mph where EF-6 should begin if the scale is to be consistent, some beyond 270 mph where EF-7 should begin and possibly some that would qualify for EF-8 that would start at 305 mph. Face it -- a 300 mph wind is not just 50% stronger than a 200 mph wind, it's 2.25 times stronger. A tornado that strong is a different critter entirely from 200 mph and needs for the sake of science, not to mention common sense, to be officially recognized as such. I say that including in the rating process a reliable doppler reading minus ground friction coefficient would make that possible.
I know it was said several times in the video but I feel compelled to say it again. FUCK YEA RICKY!! In all seriousness though that is the most stress inducing thing I've ever watched on RUclips, these men are braver than I will ever be. That Tornado was generally difficult to see. Given it's rapid expansion, unusual move to the S.E. and fast ground speed it's a wonder more chasers were not hit.

Who is the driver?
Ricky Forbes
@@danielbaetens1587 Thank you, he brings to mind the expression "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me." He was not a happy man.
When the entire freaking mesocyclone drops…
My right ear really enjoyed this.
This tornado had winds in excess of 300 MPH.
20:58 they were right behind Brandon Sullivan and Brett wright
If one was to count the touchdowns of each vortex as an individual tornado, as in the beginning of its motion, the front passenger was looking at its front wall and said TWINS!,now its clear that the mass that is its whole was far to big to adjust their depth of perception, and soon they recognize the tornado as one huge rotation giving birth to hundreds of spiral vortexs dotting its perimeter, and who could count the inner twisters touching down and sucking back up
It’s amazing to me that there were not more chasers killed! Beast of a storm! Rip Twistex🙏
Tim Samaris, his son and two other stormchasers were killed by this tornado.
Is it reed in the back seat?
It sounds like but I guess I remember him being in the dominator for this one
@@Bogeymania no its chris, reeds old chasing buddy. Reed was in his dominater and the roof was ripped off
Isn’t this the tornado that killed twistex?
Chris is like, what am I doing with these amateur's?! I use to ridie with the best, Timmer and Joel, Matt and more.. Are these guy's from Canada? I think I caught a bit of an accent.. Great ride! 🌪️🤗🌪️
Finally a driver that does what needs to be done to escape the tornado. This guy I would storm Chase with.🌪👀🤬
mmmmm my right ear enjoyed this video. My left ear feels left out
How was this rated an ef-3 with radar indicated winds of 300 mph?
It didn't hit like Joplin. If it had hit a city, I don't even want to imagine. It killed the most experienced chasers. I've never heard of that
@@Jero-P I gotcha, it's a miracle it didn't hit a city at 2.6 miles wide. They need a new method for classifying tornadoes. I used to watch those guys on Storm Chasers on the discovery channel. That was a sad day.
Exactly, wind speed should be a priority in classifying tornados. 300mph should be automatically F5 or even F6
Currently damage to structures and death toll etc are major factors in determines what scale it is
El Reno and many other examples are to me illustrations of why both the EF scale and rate-by-damage-only system seriously need to be revisited and reformed.
My reasoning for reviewing the EF scale is:
(a) I think the original F scale was closer to the truth.
Where's the footage of the other gug..near Window
Wow! Amazing footage!!
my right ear enjoyed this a lot.
I know it was said several times in the video but I feel compelled to say it again. FUCK YEA RICKY!!
In all seriousness though that is the most stress inducing thing I've ever watched on RUclips, these men are braver than I will ever be. Prayers be with the families of the three that were lost in this monster even 11 years after the fact. Rest eternally in peace Twistex, you guys will never be forgotten
22:35 WAS THAT CHRIS CHITTICK?
Most insane storm chasing video i have ever seen! you guys were so good together and being such a great team! What were those cars thinking not going FAST and u had to honk? hello there’s literally a tornado chasing yo ass ! Great job guys ..🙏🏼
Read the description. Was wondering why this was uploaded so recently
keep the camera straight !!
Ratings should be based off the windspeeds caught. Not damage alone. This thing was an EF 5. No doubt in my mind.
Edit: i fully believe God was watching out for you guys. Cuz from what i saw from Twistex.... Luck had nothing to do with it. Thank God you guys made it. ❤
That Tornado was generally difficult to see. Given it's rapid expansion, unusual move to the S.E. and fast ground speed it's a wonder more chasers were not hit.
2:33 ruclips.net/video/veNJBosc6EA/видео.html you can see them drive past via Brandon Sullivan’s perspective
This was mainly footage of inside vehicle.
If you think about it this is what happened to Tim Samaras and his team but they unfortunately didn’t make it. These guys are extremely lucky
This was one of the worst videos I’ve seen regarding this storm. Most of the video showed the inside of the vehicle. It only showed a few shots of the tornado.
ruclips.net/video/lRxugHDJaqc/видео.html - on this video at 3:50 it looks like these guys truck. What do yall think? they said they went into a ditch.
Anyone else cheering for Ricky? The fucking MAN!!!!
Is that Chris it sounds like him
One of the cameramen.
It was an EF5.
20:54 almost done post humanous footage caught right there. I would’ve shit myself
This tornado killed storm chasing legend Tim Samaras 😞
