Speak of the Devil is my favourite episode of the whole show. The whole fight between DD and Nobu is just too good. But my favourite part of the episode is undoubtedly the conversation between Matt and the priest. The dialogue in that is epic.
Its absolutely delightful watching you fall in love with this show the same way we all did. This show is a masterclass on what can be accomplished when the actors, writing, directing and cinematography all click into place. It just sucks you in whether you want it to or not.
That 10th episode hurts my heart. To see Foggy and Matt fight and their friendship shatter makes me so sad, especially after we got to see their backstory and what a fun and wonderful friendship it's been. And like you noticed, Matt's never looked so happy in all of the series to this point. Those flashbacks... I was like, whoa, he's actually smiling and laughing! It's terrible that he lost that genuine joy. Ouch, ouch, ouch. My heart. (But I love that Foggy found out! That was very exciting when I saw this episode for the first time. So good.)
@@raybrown5587 What a shallow two-dimensional viewpoint. Matt and Foggy are supposed to be lawyers, but Matt is _literally a criminal_ who goes out and beats people up at night, and not only that, he isn't even truly blind, and that is almost a worse lie because it is a fundamental part of who Matt is that he has been lying about for the years and years that they have known each other. This isn't some harmless little white lie, Matt is straight up a completely different person to who Foggy thought he was. Lying about who you fundamentally are is one of the deepest betrayals of any relationship. It completely recontextualizes everything you have ever been through with the person. It is understandable why Matt did what he did, but that doesn't mean Foggy doesn't have every right to be utterly pissed.
@@raybrown5587 and? matt is incredibly selfish for even being daredevil. it's kinda clear that in his core he is just a guy that gets high off beating the living shit out of people, specially if you watch season 2 and 3. foggy is reacting normally to a guy that was considering killing someone.
Seing it way back when and now revisiting with you, I realize I've forgotten how awesome the reveals are in this. Sitting here, knowing that the Painting reminded him of the wall he stared at while Mom and Dad fought, Knowing Karen was taking Uric to see Wilsons Mother, knowing the red ninja was Nobu. I forget how impactful all these reveals were when you finally realized.
My favorite part of Fisk in this show is how every time Matt or the others think they’ve got the drop on him and have him backed into a corner, it turns out the corners fake and he’s completely in control. Makes when he’s taken down all the more satisfying
"I felt like it was only a matter of time before they figured it out" ... did he figure it out? Or did he just look at see? "It was obvious" How was it obvious? That the blind man was the masked martial arts vigilante? I would contend that it was only obvious because it's a tv show and we saw him as both Matt Murdock and as Daredevil. I'm not sure how long it would've taken me to suspect it was Matt were this real life.
Though not Fisk sized, I am a large mammal and usually go with just a sheet. That layer of insulating blubber has its benefits :D I live in a drafty apartment that gets a bit chilly in the cold months so then I might need a blanket, but I imagine Fisk has perfect climate control so that he never needs to have big heavy covers.
I had to Google "wilson fisk secret business stuff" just to see what came up 😂 Thanks Cameron 👍 This show, and your reactions Nat, just get better and better 💛
I tried Googling it too, but I only got About 4,550,000 results (0.63 seconds), compared to Cameron's 9,220,000,000. I think Cameron has some extra sources and dark web connections. You better be careful and keep an eye on him, Natalie. 😉😆

I forgot how much I enjoyed this show. I watched every episode with my mother while I was helping with her recovery from a hip replacement. It holds a special place for me.
I really, really enjoyed this interpretation of WIlson Fisk. I haven't read every iteration of Daredevil in the comics, but the ones I did read, and all his appearances in the Spider-Man/Captain America comics, and how he was in the cartoons was way more one-dimensional. Just a larger-than-life mob boss, full of bluster and swagger. The depiction of Fisk as a vulnerable, wounded man was a bit of a shock, but a really nice one.
Like she said , I give props to the stunt team for creating the fight Scenes cause that’s my favourite part of daredevil. As a martial artist and future stunt actor I’m impressed , glad I watched daredevil years ago
The most relatable and "tortured" villains are the best. You understand where they came from and what they are trying to do but feel they need to go about it in a more brutal manner than the protagonist. It's nice to see both sides of the coin conflicting
my wife and I are slowly re-watching Daredevil for probably the 4th time now! Looking forward to your reaction to Punisher and Bullseye :) The villians in every season are amazing but MAN(!) Wilson's supporting cast this season, particularly Wesley, Vanessa and Madame Gao are so much better than they need to be. Hands down some of my favorite supporting characters in any show
I need to buy some Briogio! and I just love how this show is written Matt and Fisk's dynamic is so great and all the other characters are great, I always think of Matt as kinda like a grown up spiderman only he doesn't have a healing factor lol, then Karen and Foggy are like peter's friends always wanting to help him out
I can't tell you how much I've been looking forward to this reaction of yours! I love Daredevil and have watched the three seasons multiple times, and you still catch things I hadn't even noticed, like Matt's being nameless giving him the same power as Fisk when he was nameless. I'm excited for part 4!
“All the dinosaurs remind me of Wash.” While he didn’t write for _Firefly,_ Creator/Executive Producer Drew Goddard was part of the Mutant Enemy writing team when _Firefly_ was in production, and he’s done a lot of other things with Joss Whedon.
IIRC, the "Nelson and Murdock" sign, and that shot with the sign in the wastebasket, are straight from the comics. Those who know the comics get little nods and secret handshakes like that from the director. We're part of the club. :)
The show has many deep layers. Its hard to experience a new episode of the Disney plus marvel shows. Knowing they will never just take their time to tell a well thought out relatable hero story.
D'Onofrio should most definitely have won a best actor Emmy for his portrayal of Fisk. The way he takes the brutal Kingpin and makes you feel sympathetic towards him is one of the greatest character acting jobs I've ever seen on TV.
Daredevil does a flip, Natalie's like "The stunt people are so talented!" I'm like "Stunt people? That was probably Charlie Cox himself going "No, I trained my butt off, I'll take this one!""
I don't think Charlie can do a flip. Tom Holland can but he was gymnast all his life, most actors can't do that without a wire. Whatever training Charlie did do was with the stunt team. Even when it is him doing something, it's the stunt crew's coaching, choreo and teamwork that makes him look like an expert.
@@chrisleebowers Perhaps you're right but we see Matt pursuing Wesley in an early episode so my point is basically that Charlie put in work for this role.
26:11 Well it's obvious to us because we've known about his super senses and fighting ability since the start. To Foggy and Karen, he's just a blind lawyer.
I think Moviebob said it best in his best Marvel villains list when he said "He was scary, he was weirdly likable, his relationship with Vannessa was fascinating, he slammed that one guy's head off, all good stuff. But what I liked most was that they really made us wait on his backstory, and when we finally _got_ it... it wasn't a huge surprise. It all made total sense like '...Yup, that's the kind of childhood and life that would create *this* guy.'"
Throughout this episode arc, VIncent D'Onofrio doesn't just play a good Wilson Fisk, he INHABITS Wilson Fisk. The casting for Daredevil was absolutely perfect. Also, Charlie Cox does an upscale New York accent so well you'd never know that he's actually British, the was way that Tom Holland can do the Queens, New Yawwwk accent so well. Also, Vanessa is perfectly cast, as in the comics, Kingpin met, courted, then married Vanessa and had a son with her.
Fun Fact: I was asked to be a stand in for Vincent in another movie, which he didn't take the job. I got to play Domenick, bill fisk, for his hand on Breakout kings.
Natalie. The biggest thing to keep in mind about Fisk is that he isn't big because he is 'fat'. He is big because of his STRENGTH. Which is why when Fisk/Daredevil fights, it is some of the hardest hits that Daredevil has to take. It is also why when Matt hits Fisk, he is able to shake them off so easily. It is the concept of the Elephant vs the Mosquito. (Strength vs Speed). It is why their fights are so wonderful. It is both a "mind game" as well as a "battle of wills" with a touch of "physical conflict" added on top. Their back-and-forth over the years in the comics are some of the most dramatic confrontations because they can come out of nowhere, as well as end up down paths you didn't see coming.
I love, love, love, loooooove Nelson v. Murdock. No lies, "I only ever needed my friend"got me sobbing... Favourite episode in the whole series, easy... and I know it's cheesy
It was netflix powerhouse once but the whole defenders universe didnt grew wings and fizzeled out - so its end wasnt surprising i think after disney said it wanted to start a streaming service. But daredevil, jessica jones and punisher is very good. But all shows developed some issues after each season 1 (mostly by cramming too much stuff in it in my opinio), but that didnt break their backs. Luke cage and iron fist did not interest me much. Only thing i really liked was the plot between son amd father in iron fist. Luke cage kinda bored me as a character and the show did not vibe with me (also comparing lc to the wire [as some critics did] was very weird)
It's confirmed in a hollywood reporter, that the revival is new, but a continuation to the netflix show, so it is canon. But it won't be involved the same writers from the original series, it's a new writer, which i'm concerned about

The episode of Matt and Foggy is a freaking masterpiece. No other superhero shows can do a backstory around two male friends and be this emotional. That's why Daredevil > Any marvel disney plus show AND THAT'S THE TRUTH!
"Look at him acting all approachable and goofy" You haven't seen the move Stardust yet? It stars Charlie (Matt Murdock).. If you want approachable and goofy, this is where he let it out.
As a piece of pop culture trivia, have you caught the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle links yet? The blinding slime goo, stick (splinter), the hand (foot clan), etc... TMNT is basically an in-universe daredevil parody.
@Natalie_Gold, I love that you saw the parallel between Matt's and Fisk's pasts, and the influence from their father's. It's a beautiful dichotomy. Also, similar lingo drops, the use of angelic terms from Fisk, and demonic mentions with Matt's social circles.
28:40 It's kind of like Peggy and Cap, where he finally sees her again and she thought that he was dead and after their conversation it starts all over again.
The Alzheimer's thing really touched me too, because I have schizoaffective disorder, which is a similar type of illness. You just get it in your early to late 20s rather than when you're older.
Super tiny easter egg. Leland mentions the charity hall was owned by a guy named "Van Lunt"...he's referring to Cornelius Van Lunt AKA "Taurus". A costumed crime lord with 11 other villains led the Zodiac Cartel" a group of Avengers villains in the 70's and 80s. Leland mentions Van Lundt's obsession with astrology as well

I love how almost every episode you are like I would be able to tell that it was Matt if that was me. But you could not tell that is Nobu and you can see his eyes lol you said that's the guy Nobu hired lol You do know sticks are weapons lol
When Fisk wants you to know his motivation, Fisk will tell you his motivation. And it's one of the best monologues in TV history. Literally biblical. Also, Gao doesn't receive the credit her character deserves. One of the reasons I recommend Iron Fist, even with its severe deficiencies.
I like the audio descriptor for the Marvel Netflix shows. He's also done Logan, Falcon & Winter Soldier, Eternals, Hawkeye, Moon Knight, and more recently Multiverse of Madness among other projects. Here's an example of what he says: @3:26 Matt's apartment is wrecked after the fight with Stick. Broken furniture, debris across the floor, the next room littered with shattered beer bottles.
The thing about this show, is that from season 1 your basically waiting for the season finale of season 3. I’ll just tell you the pay off of watching this show is up there with shows like Peaky Blinders and Breaking bad.
Sometimes I feel like Natalie forgets that the characters in the show don’t know as much as the viewer & they haven’t been exposed to everything that’s been going on like we have.
I was beside myself for a minute reacting to Natalie always tryna see the good in people LOL. When she first starting talking about Kingpin just wanting to do good like in the last video I actually yelled "NO, HE'S JUST ANOTHER PSYCHO LIKE EVERY OTHER BAD GUY!!!" He wants to do right by his wallet and that's it lmao
I think perspective is interesting. I see Fisk's father as doing his best to try to make his son capable. I was raised by a single mother. I'm 38 and can barely do anything by myself. Never learned to swim. Never learned to ride a bike. Never learned to drive. She always spoke for me, like Fisks mother does for him. She overfed me, like Fisks mother. I've lost over 100lbs twice but it's hard to keep off. She tried her best to convince me my father is the worst man on the planet but I know her. I know how hard she is to live with.

@@TheRubenMar Luke Cage is great, but really goes downhill at the mid point.
@@Eidlones I don't remember everything, but I remember it been fun all the way through, and the music in the club were amazing
Where did it go downhill for you?
Fun fact: Charlie Cox tried out for the part of Han in *Solo*, but because of his immersion in this role, he kept forgetting to look the casting directors in the eye and, therefore, didn't get the part.
So good.)
Foggy was a horrible friend for reacting the way he did. Matt was sacrificing everything for his city and all Foggy could think about was himself.
35:14 you catch SO much it’s crazy. Like i thought nothing of the splash but you noticed it wow
Seing it way back when and now revisiting with you, I realize I've forgotten how awesome the reveals are in this.
Sitting here, knowing that the Painting reminded him of the wall he stared at while Mom and Dad fought,
Knowing Karen was taking Uric to see Wilsons Mother, knowing the red ninja was Nobu.
The best way to put it is Matt is blind but he can imagine what's around him perfectly because his senses are so good
Making the Kingpin a human character was an amazing achievement. Love the series and your reaction!
"I felt like it was only a matter of time before they figured it out"
... did he figure it out? Or did he just look at see?
"It was obvious"
How was it obvious? That the blind man was the masked martial arts vigilante? I would contend that it was only obvious because it's a tv show and we saw him as both Matt Murdock and as Daredevil. I'm not sure how long it would've taken me to suspect it was Matt were this real life.
"Just press an M and a Q, and there it is" LOL LOL. MORE of that character, please. That was hilarious.
19:05 Kudos to the editor. Forknife on plate was the perfect sound choice for that hairstanding moment.
Though not Fisk sized, I am a large mammal and usually go with just a sheet. That layer of insulating blubber has its benefits :D
I live in a drafty apartment that gets a bit chilly in the cold months so then I might need a blanket, but I imagine Fisk has perfect climate control so that he never needs to have big heavy covers.
I had to Google "wilson fisk secret business stuff" just to see what came up 😂 Thanks Cameron 👍
This show, and your reactions Nat, just get better and better 💛
haha Cameron is a genius 😂
I tried Googling it too, but I only got About 4,550,000 results (0.63 seconds), compared to Cameron's 9,220,000,000. I think Cameron has some extra sources and dark web connections. You better be careful and keep an eye on him, Natalie. 😉😆

My headcanon for life is that the babies they get to model for avocado costumes around Halloween are professional avocados. Just a wholesome thought that popped into my head while watching the video. :)
Charlie Cox and D'nofrio's performances throughout the show are insane! So happy both are a part of the MCU now! I hope Charlie is Daredevil for a long, long time!
As a martial artist and future stunt actor I’m impressed , glad I watched daredevil years ago
this show is a masterpiece
The most relatable and "tortured" villains are the best. You understand where they came from and what they are trying to do but feel they need to go about it in a more brutal manner than the protagonist. It's nice to see both sides of the coin conflicting
10:08 There's something about Madam Gao's mannerisms that I like alot. Great villain
my wife and I are slowly re-watching Daredevil for probably the 4th time now!
Every time I see her post these there’s a audible reaction of excitement 😂 😂 😂
“All the dinosaurs remind me of Wash.”
While he didn’t write for _Firefly,_ Creator/Executive Producer Drew Goddard was part of the Mutant Enemy writing team when _Firefly_ was in production, and he’s done a lot of other things with Joss Whedon.
IIRC, the "Nelson and Murdock" sign, and that shot with the sign in the wastebasket, are straight from the comics. Those who know the comics get little nods and secret handshakes like that from the director. We're part of the club. :)
Yeah just like the Stick and Stone scene.
Vincent D'Onofrio is perfect as Kingpin. He deserved a spinoff.
Nah. But he does deserve to be a Thanos style big bad that plays into the stories of just about every street level hero in New York
He’s going to be in the upcoming Echo show, along with Matt.
Btw, Ben Urich's wife is sick because she suffered head trauma when Loki's alien army attacked NYC.
13:17 "Aaw shes a good mom. She must be horrified at this"
Mom: "Get the saw"
Natalie: *stunned look"
LOL!! XD
Daredevil does a flip, Natalie's like "The stunt people are so talented!"
I'm like "Stunt people? That was probably Charlie Cox himself going "No, I trained my butt off, I'll take this one!""
I don't think Charlie can do a flip. Tom Holland can but he was gymnast all his life, most actors can't do that without a wire.
Whatever training Charlie did do was with the stunt team. Even when it is him doing something, it's the stunt crew's coaching, choreo and teamwork that makes him look like an expert.
@@chrisleebowers Perhaps you're right but we see Matt pursuing Wesley in an early episode so my point is basically that Charlie put in work for this role.
@@Mansplainer2099-jy8ps Yes, his dedication certainly shows, he may not be a lifelong gymnast but he did a damn good job convincing you he was.
26:11 Well it's obvious to us because we've known about his super senses and fighting ability since the start. To Foggy and Karen, he's just a blind lawyer.
19:40 I have never heard that sound before but it was the best reaction. Daredevil is what Disney-Marvel could only dream to be.
D'nofrio should have won an Emmy for his portrail of Fisk. This episode is brilliant
Natalie: I think Fisk shares the same motivation from Spider-Verse.
Dare Devil series: You know NOTHING!
“This is _MY_ city!”
It's interesting that you see fisk as "sad," I see him as constantly on the edge of rage
Fun Fact: I was asked to be a stand in for Vincent in
another movie, which he didn't take the job. I got to play Domenick, bill fisk, for his hand on Breakout kings.
D'Onofrio is such a good actor man, his performance always gives me chills
“She’s a good mom!!”
*get the saw*
😂😂😂😂
"Its obvious matt is daredevil "
Matt literally being a blind lawyer 😐
Other than the flipping/acrobatics, Charlie Cox does a huge portion of the fighting and choreography himself. Everyone does amazing work on the show.
Now you have me re watching this show so underrated sucks it was cancelled
remembering it is coming back tho
@@willem8820 With a different team behind the scenes... what a dissapointment
@@willem8820 It won't be a continuation tho, Its probably a soft reboot, given its by completely different people
It's confirmed in a hollywood reporter, that the revival is new, but a continuation to the netflix show, so it is canon.
"Look at him acting all approachable and goofy"
You haven't seen the move Stardust yet?
It stars Charlie (Matt Murdock).. If you want approachable and goofy, this is where he let it out.
As a piece of pop culture trivia, have you caught the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle links yet? The blinding slime goo, stick (splinter), the hand (foot clan), etc... TMNT is basically an in-universe daredevil parody.
10:25 "Do you speak gibberish" 🤣🤣 made me laugh way harder than it should have Lmao
@Natalie_Gold, I love that you saw the parallel between Matt's and Fisk's pasts, and the influence from their father's. It's a beautiful dichotomy. Also, similar lingo drops, the use of angelic terms from Fisk, and demonic mentions with Matt's social circles.
28:40
It's kind of like Peggy and Cap, where he finally sees her again and she thought that he was dead and after their conversation it starts all over again.
Know you know why the fans are so exciting that they got the actor to return as kingpin. My favorite portrale of this villain
27:08 - Nat getting so very excited about hearing Train is coincidental for me, since I should be going to see them on Saturday night.
The Alzheimer's thing really touched me too, because I have schizoaffective disorder, which is a similar type of illness. You just get it in your early to late 20s rather than when you're older.
Natalie can sing. We need an official performance.
Leland mentions Van Lundt's obsession with astrology as well
You have no idea how much i look forwards to when Natalie watches these ! I love this and i'm glad that she seems to be enjoying these as well. Also good to see how someone who isn't aware of all the lore enjoying a show that has superior written vs the movies ;)
Hey Nat, hey everyone! Hope you’re all doing well! 😊 I love that you’re watching Daredevil, I love this series!!
I love how almost every episode you are like I would be able to tell that it was Matt if that was me. But you could not tell that is Nobu and you can see his eyes lol you said that's the guy Nobu hired lol You do know sticks are weapons lol
THIS IS MY FAVORITE SHOW EVER PLEASE KEEP WATCHING
Ok you can go ahead and release all the other parts now😌 I can't wait😩
"Wtf happened with this tissue?"
I'm sorry that really got me😂
This show brings the New Yawk out of Nat so much.
I'm here for it.
🙏🏽
The thing about this show, is that from season 1 your basically waiting for the season finale of season 3. I’ll just tell you the pay off of watching this show is up there with shows like Peaky Blinders and Breaking bad.
Sometimes I feel like Natalie forgets that the characters in the show don’t know as much as the viewer & they haven’t been exposed to everything that’s been going on like we have.
I really, REALLY hope that season two comes quickly after season one. The... well, you know, is such an incredible addition to this show.
daredevil doesn’t kill not purposely he tries his best to fight the killer instinct inside of him and that’s what makes his character interesting imo
I can't help but see Vinnie D'No playing Fisk and imagine that's what Private Pyle would be like today
Loving the Daredevil!!! I know you really loved the Denis Villeneuve films you e watched and I would really recommend is earlier films like Prisoners, Sicario, and Incendies. They're all masterpieces
It's low key hilarious how many people from The Wire end up in this series of Marvel shows. Herc, Greggs, Freamon, Landsman, Judge Phelan...
They're just tryin to keep the devil way down in the hole
@@raybrown5587 Well done!
