    Very interesting take, EVERYONE online takes a side, tuned, dampened whatever. No one in the audience you're playing for cares if you have a quesadilla or moon gel on your aux snare.

    Good point. I've been on gigs where my kit is very well tuned but the way it reacts with certain mics requires some dampening. Do what you have to do to achieve the sound you want or the sound that the artist you're playing for wants. And coordinate with your front of house engineer.

    Put an 8 or 10 inch splash upside down like a China on a cymbal stand mount. Use it to ash a smoke or blunt into. Thats a splash tray. Just a video idea. Don’t know where else to msg you that you might possibly see it.

    To simplify and add to what you said, tuning is for making the drum sound its best, and like you said, make it sing. Dampening is for making the drums fit the environment and the context
