Awesome video man...I loved the Boon character. He was the perfect villain for Raylan. Their draw was my favorite scene of the entire series. Thank you for posting this.
I like how you included the scene from season 1 episode 3 where he talks to that "landscaper" about what can go wrong with a quick draw. Two of my other favorite Raylan showdowns are the one with Fletcher "the icepick" Nicks in season 3 episode 1 and the one against the Detroit mob hitman who goes around wearing the stolen cop uniform in season 4 episode "The outlaw".

Cool video. Just a thought though -- I would've included how it's Boon's prerogative to go for the head (and we've seen that he pays for it with his aim twice, with the boy and Raylan), and that Raylan goes for the heart. In the end it's because of their two different prerogatives that Raylan is still alive and Boon is dead.
But only because Raylan has his hat on that makes a precise head shot really hard to pull off. Also, it's actually a draw as a shot to the chest is not as big a deal as a head shot. So even though Raylan is not dying he is still down while Boon is about to shot him a second time, this time killing him. The Raylan only wins because the girl likes him and saves his life.
@Anti-Federalist 1776 MAYBE.....Boon was bleeding out pretty good and fast when he was attempting to bead up on the fallen Raylan. Could he have got off one more clear finishing shot?? Maybe....probably not, as he was dead about 3 seconds after she stepped on his arm.
@Anti-Federalist 1776 I understand that, but Boon is a few seconds away from literally dying. His brain is starting to shut down quickly and his ability to see that far away and to steady the piece on target is diminished and plummeting rapidly. I'm very doubtful he could have got off a kill shot on Givens in real life at that stage. But .. it makes for fun discussion and analysis of a great scene in an amazing tv series.
@Anti-Federalist 1776 You may be correct, but I'm gonna go with Boon not being able to bead down on the prone Givens due to his lung shot. Loretta certainly aided in that, but we'll never know if Boon would have been able to focus long enough to put a finish shot on point while drawing 1 or 2 last breaths.
Serious firearms error in that one scene. Yes, some gunslingers left the chamber under the hammer empty to prevent an accidental discharge. BUT..., when you pull the trigger on a double action revolver OR pull the hammer back on a single action revolver, the cylinder rotates counter clockwise bringing the next LOADED chamber in line with the barrel and hammer. What Boone did at 1:25 would only have been possible if the next cylinder was empty.
Not all revolvers turn in the same direction.... Colt goes one way, Smith & Wesson the other, for instance. From the rear of the gun, Colt turns clockwise, Smith & Wesson counter-clockwise. You can tell which way the cylinder turns by looking at the scallops that lead into the locking notches for the bolt. But yes, the empty chamber is always right under the hammer, or all you've done is short yourself one round without any added safety. Oh, and lastly... Boon was an arrogant ass hat that was used to dealing with people he had at a disadvantage. I didn't like the fact that Raylan traded his hat for Boon's in the end.
@@jayflavor1 I beg to differ on the subject of Raylan’s hat. Seems I read somewhere that Mr Elmore intended Raylan’s hat to be the Stetson Open Road, same hat worn by LBJ, Eisenhower, and Truman plus everyone in Dallas during the JFK assassination.

I just find that showdown confusing because surely Raylan is hit as there's a ton of blood spray in the air but it's all in front of him. None of it is in his hat. And for sure that's gotta be at least a 38 if not a 45 wadcutter because it left a huge hole in his hat. But I find it hard to believe that the guy would pull-off a headshot at that range, they had to be 50 feet apart at least. And Boon gets hit too but only falls to his knees because Raylan shot him in the body. And that makes me go back to all of his shootings, he usually does put at least 2 rounds in the torso except for that chinshot when he was lying under the window in that cabin and the neckshot of the 2nd guy in his aunts' house. Well he might be quick but he wasn't quick or lethal enough. Question is, did he actually lose any brain-matter or was it just a glancing shot?

Only problem is, you leave the firing chamber empty to prevent the hammer being struck...good sense, but whether it is single or double action, once the hammer comes back or you pull the trigger..it cycles a round into the firing chamber. You cannot NOT fire a revolver once you turn the cylinder away from the empty one.

I agree completely! Boon quite literally was the best part about the last season, though otherwise - as a whole - i was very disappointed with it. The whole Ava fucking over and even attempting to kill Boyd made absolutely zero sense, along with her fearing him! I mean, after the second season, (really more like part way through), she legitimately fell in love with him and were quite the duo. I kinda get why she agreed to help catch Boyd in order to get outa prison, but her whole reasoning about how Boyd "left her" behind bars when she knew the lengths to which he had tried getting her out and even eventually told him to "leave her" and to move on! So how the fuck was she bitter at him over her being in prison? And at what point all season did do a damn thing to make her fear for her life, even after discovering she was informing on him to Raylan? The whole year was kinda a mess to say the least imo! But, boon however was the fuckin shit without question. As for Boon being killed by Raylan, honestly by the end of that season i was also starting to get annoyed with how ridiculously unstoppable/unbeatable Raylan was. It was like he was either to fast and too accurate, and the dude who fuckin shot the head off a damn rattlesnake, who actually beat Raylan in the draw - while also being someone who had killed plenty of people already - somehow was overwhelmed bout facing Raylan that he missed him while then Raylan killed him. It was quite ridiculous if you ask me, almost like how he also required the black guy at the end of season 3 to disarm Bobby who had that hidden wrist gun in order to beat him, (talk about an ex machina). That kind pissed me off too cuz i loved Robert, he was easily the most badass and terrifying nemesis of Raylan's throughout the whole series, even more so than Boon was is certainly the second imo!
BOON WASN'T QUICKER - HE WAS A BRAGGART AND A SHOWOFF. HE LIVED TO INTIMIDATE WITH HIS PRESENCE AS A MODERN DAY GUNSLINGER WITH A REPUTATION. HIS COCKY SLOW WAY OF TALKING BULLS**T TO IRRITATE AND RILE AND PROVOKE A REACTION WAS AN ACT. THE HOLDING OF HIS LEFT HAND IN THE AIR WITH RINGS ON THE FINGERS, HIS STANDING ASKANCE, WITH HIS RIGHT HAND MASSAGING THE REVOLVER, THE CUSTOM MADE HAT WITH THE METAL TAG ON THE BRIM, AND THAT STUPID LOOKING MUSTACHE - WAS ALL MEANT TO INTIMIDATE. RAYLAN WASN'T INTIMIDATED OR EVEN IMPRESSED BY BOON. HE KNEW WHAT BOON WAS AND WASN'T. BOON WAS A SMARMY KILLER FOR HIRE - HE WAS NOT DOC HOLIDAY OR JOHNNY RINGO.
Boone shot first and shot small (aiming for the head knowing Raylan might have body armor) which is impressive. However Raylan never shoots first, he only pulls as they pull. So.... 🤷 no way to know.
LaTone Heart that scene was so silly. The dialogue meant he either carried with 2 chambers empty or carried a gun with the hammer over a loaded chamber (what he isn’t supposed to do) and the empty chamber being the first one he draws.
Nah. As much as I would've loved to see this show go on, I'm glad they didn't run the series dry and ended it as a perfect series...unlike most series out there.
he was in a break out role in the show "Kingdom" that lasted 3 seasons. Terrific show and he was the the best part of it, drama about UFC fighters in lower leagues, he was a part of a family that ran a gym. Should've been nominated a few times for it.
just a hitman dressed up like a western pistolero who believes his own bullshit about being the fastest draw. He was dead wrong! Raylan sends him to HELL!
I have watched Justified at least 3 times. The last time I watched, I finally realized where that ugly hat Raylan had in the series' finale episode came from: He killed Boon in that Quickdraw duel, and took his hat, to replace the cool hat he wore for the rest of the entire series. He got one bullet hole in it, and couldn't wear it anymore? Or did he do it to remind himself he'd outdrawn a Quickdraw killer like Boon? Whatever the reason? I still hate that hat. And even giving the exact same reason why he chose it "I tried it on and it fit" doesn't make me like it any better. But when I realized it was actually Boon's hat? I at least understood why he switched over to it. Doesn't mean I like it any better. It's still a ridiculously ugly hat. But there's probably no way they could have gotten a better hat than the original hat. So, they went with having Raylan adopt Boon's hat. Since Boon wouldn't be needing it anymore. (Hell, it was ugly on Boon, too, for all of that.)
Boone was an idiot with the impulse control of a 10 year old, and Markham was an idiot to hire him. What did Boone think would happen if he killed a federal officer? He could just keep hanging out at the Pizza Portal like nothing happened? He’d have been hunted down, and he’d be lucky to be taken alive. As far as Markham, since Boone was working for him, he’d be on the hook for the murder as well. Tough to run a Kentucky weed empire from a Supermax cell.
Hmmm, if ONLY there were some bigger words and letters covering the scenes that would have made this 10 thumbs up, 20 gold stars and a global viral hit. Unfortunately, this fell just short with these medium sized letters.
@@4redniwediS I think it was a badass and full of himself. If he didn't have the heavy six-shooter for Raylan & his final showdown, Boon woulda got the best of Raylan because he would've been able to draw faster.
Guys, the show was about Raylan, not Boon so there is no way Boon was ever going to beat him, heavier gun or otherwise. It was make believe and no other scenario other than Boon dying and Raylan living was ever going to happen. Besides, the Boon character was a slimy creep and he was obviously written in to lose.
This character annoyed me. He had no real purpose other than to be the foil to raylan’s quick draw. And I feel like raylan would have outsmarted him. Not tried to out draw him. There was just no emotional investment there.
I feel like he should have been the first half of the season, and the spec ops trio in the second. Walker and his guys should have been far more dangerous than how they were portrayed, especially since how Tim, being the prior military guy in the deputy trio, was always portrayed as the most competent of the three when the shooting started.

Jesse Haffner ya Robert a good bad guy, seasons 2 and 3 were my favorite
People don't realize just how terrifying a quickdraw shootout is in real life. Wether in 1870's or in 2020's. Its worse then mideval jousting.
Need to get the GIANT CAPTIONS off the screen
Pretty sure Boon modeled himself after Val Kilmers portrayal of Doc Holiday in Tombstone..
@Joshua Katchy huckleberry
Bad news is Jenny's chamber is full of promise now
Boone was fun but had poor aim
LaTone Heart that scene was so silly. The dialogue meant he either carried with 2 chambers empty or carried a gun with the hammer over a loaded chamber (what he isn’t supposed to do) and the empty chamber being the first one he draws.
I *REALLY* wish this series had gone on a couple more seasons...
jlocke62 The writer died, evidently contract did too
Nah. As much as I would've loved to see this show go on, I'm glad they didn't run the series dry and ended it as a perfect series...unlike most series out there.
FX has announced recently that Justified will come back for a new limited series set in Detroit.
From the first scene u know this show was going to be bad ass
Next time you post one of these videos be sure to make that font you leave on the screen bigger...we can still see a little bit of the scene.
Notice that Raylan got better with the gun as the series went along. Wonder how much time Olyphant practiced. 👍
Don’t know who the actor was playing Boon but he has a future role as the evil guy in a James Bond film sewed up if you ask me
he was in a break out role in the show "Kingdom" that lasted 3 seasons. Terrific show and he was the the best part of it, drama about UFC fighters in lower leagues, he was a part of a family that ran a gym. Should've been nominated a few times for it.
Johnathan Tucker
Boone WISHED that was Doc Holiday. 100t years too late.
just a hitman dressed up like a western pistolero who believes his own bullshit about being the fastest draw. He was dead wrong! Raylan sends him to HELL!
It’s Raylin. Look it up.
I have watched Justified at least 3 times.
The last time I watched, I finally realized where that ugly hat Raylan had in the series' finale episode came from:
He killed Boon in that Quickdraw duel, and took his hat, to replace the cool hat he wore for the rest of the entire series.
He didn't outdraw Boone he got shot in the head and survive cuz of unbreakable plot armor
Boone’s left hand is channeling Jack Sparrow
ITS COMING BACK
If I looked really hard I could just make out who was hiding behind the huge text!!
Is there any reason to have the damn titles up on the screen during all the scenes?
One of the best shows ever
Boone was an idiot with the impulse control of a 10 year old, and Markham was an idiot to hire him. What did Boone think would happen if he killed a federal officer? He could just keep hanging out at the Pizza Portal like nothing happened? He’d have been hunted down, and he’d be lucky to be taken alive. As far as Markham, since Boone was working for him, he’d be on the hook for the murder as well. Tough to run a Kentucky weed empire from a Supermax cell.
Slow down there, do you think I'm some kind of speed reader?
Your graphics were in the way...
Hmmm, if ONLY there were some bigger words and letters covering the scenes that would have made this 10 thumbs up, 20 gold stars and a global viral hit. Unfortunately, this fell just short with these medium sized letters.
Best duel in tv history
What exactly made you think that putting those big-ass text blocks all over the screen was a good idea?
I still can’t see the words? Too small.. What are they saying? Make them bigger please
If the words were a bit bigger you could obscured the entire video instead of just half of it.
Why would you ruin a good video by covering up the action with huge obnoxious text in the middle of the screen? It makes no sense.
Boon was way faster then raylan was just more accurate
Raylan killed Boone and took his custom made hat.
I would have watched your video if the Boone and Raylan titles didn’t block all the action.
The text over the screen is a downer.
Could the text cover any more of the screen
i really like Raylans hat .
Boon is a Badass!!!
I couldn’t decide if Boon was a badass, Very confident of himself or just full of himself we’ll never now!
WTF?! Franco must have X ray vision.
Only bullshit part is the empty chamber part! The firing pin would rest on an empty chamber but as soon as its cocked itd be ready to go!
What's with the big white text over the video? WTF?
Unwatchable, I’m here to watch the words on the screen! Please use bigger words otherwise I can still barely see something.
Thanks for ruining the scenes with big bold titles that stay up forever! Yeah I got the Raylan and Boon part in the damn TITLE!!!
I didn't come here to talk about hats.
Stupid text in the middle of the video ruins it. We know who they are.
I love Justified... but has anyone ever heard of a cop who kills so many people ??
If that was real life Raylon would be a serial killer.
Why are you spiling the visual by encroaching the bold white words across it?
edit much? Maybe make the graphics bigger so we can see them....
amo esta serie ❤❤❤ojalá que la vuelva pero dicen que el actor no la quiso seguir!!
Love thisseries why have to ne finished??? 😥😥😥😥
Boone would make for a good Revolver Ocelot
Who adds huge bold text over the show? That sucks.
What's with having the name in big letters in the screen? Absolutely no sense to that. Certainly won't subscribe if that's the kind of stuff you do.
Who are the two guys? I never caught their name...
You're not going to let us see it, with that printing all over the screen, gets you a thumbs down, and this comment.
Ruined by placing the word graphic in the middle of the video
Boon was the dorkiest most unreal character I've ever had the misfortune to watch....and that hat😆
Real? I loved him! He was the only character that made me feel worried for Raylan's life.
I'm sorry?were there words in the middle of the screen?
Screen?
Who is this supposed to be about.....?
Who is Boone lol
Wait, who vs who is it?
