    this was really good. I used to skate street for decades and now that I'm older I want to get more into vert. It was surprising how few tutorials are out there for this type of very important tips. This was the only one that really broke it down. I personally would love to see some reviews on the types of pads out there, I had some trouble finding those too and I have a sense you'd be a great resource to explain things nicely and fairly. Thanks for the amazing videos. Hope I get to see more vert/bowl videos when I visit your channel again, I'm hoping I can improve and have a nice coach like yourself teaching us the foundations.

      The 187 Killer Knee Pads are amazing! I just recently found a pair at a local skate shop. They have a very thick memory foam inside and it wraps around your entire knee and even the sides some. The caps themselves slide really well and will last a long time and are replaceable. You barely feel anything when landing on them. They are also machine washable. Highly recommend 187 Killer Pads!

    • @idmhead0160
      @idmhead0160 2 года назад

      I did you find any good reviews of knee pads? I bought some Pro-Tec Street pads, but, they're too small, and after seeing them, I think I understand why they call them Street. I don't think they are good enough for vert. I'm probably only going to be skating small transition, but, still want to get some quality pads. The Pro-Tec Street ones look sketchy. I have some old Rector Protectors from the 80s and I like those better. Skate shops don't seem to carry Rector anymore. I don't know why. Maybe the new brands are just better. I wasn't at all impressed with the Pro-Tec Streets. The knee caps are flat and don't seem to protect the top part of your knee at all and look like they would slide down. I'm going to be sending those back and need to figure out what I should get.

    I've been skating for 17 years and wore pads as a kid but stopped cause they weren't "cool" apparently when I hit my teens. Finally just started rocking pads again after some bad bails and heel bruises. Please be smarter than me and just keep wearing them!

      I will definitely share, also, I'm just wondering, can you possibly make a video on budget quality skate shoes? I find that all brand names are scamming new skaters. Like vans and so forth. I think maximum grip is important, but the price of recommended skate shoes are bullshit. With your 20 yrs experience, can you possibly help a new skater?

    Yeah this will be my greatest struggle. I've always had trouble sitting back on my heels. When i do, i usually have my toes pointed to the floor, not back behind me. That's what's uncomfortable, my feet bending back. super bony and my joints aren't great at 35 years old, but I wanna skate the bowl so bad I can't stop

      You WILL need to stretch, for mobility, flexibility, recovery, and injury prevention. Remember that as you stretch the goal is to relax to let the stretch do the work instead of engaging muscles to reach to stretch 🛹💪🏽🛹

      Thanks so much for your kindness and support! I have a video coming soon that will teach many knee slides and should answer your questions. Once you commit to a rock to fakie you’re in it to win it so really lift those front wheels to clear from hanging up! 💙🛹💙

    • @bakedbeings
      @bakedbeings 3 года назад +1

      I'm no JB but I have a trick I used to bail from and learn rock to fakie: as you go into the transition and are about to rock to fakie mentally commit to and position your body to roll in switch. In a lot of was a rock to fakie is really being able to drop in on a ramp switch stance with your back truck hung up. If you're thinking about rolling down switch instead of "how do unhang this truck oh shit i'm backwards" then you're just jumping off and running. Practise on little transitions at the park - start on top and ride over the coping switch stance, scraping your board as u go.

      @@SkateparkLessons Good luck. I hope you get back on your board soon. The middle portion of my back was fucked for a couple years. I ended up looking up back training exercises and therapy on youtube by athleanx. They really helped me out. Now I can do heavy squats and deadlifts. the back can really be improved because there are a lot of muscles around it that you can build up.
      You got me thinking about doing some kind of training for my ankles. I have seen people doing ankle exercises like on a wobbley kind of balance board. I think I will look into it.
