- This is TF-NPK DC-3 in Iceland. This video is from 2002 when it was spraying fertilizers in the highlands of Iceland. This DC-3 flew for Air Iceland from 1947-1972 and used for soil conservation from 1973-2005. In 2006 it was painted in Icelandair colors and used for fun in airshows and stuff. I have more videos of this DC-3 on my YT site.
so glad to see these old birds still flying around; I cherish the day I got checked out in the -3 and loved flying her
Unforgettable!
Beautiful DC-3.
👍👍🇨🇱
Indeed!
my god that is a beautiful aircraft, the sound, and the looks I bet it's just as nice to fly.
The DC-3 ... the most amazing airplane ever built! My first ride: 3/10/1949 .... I was 11 ... days old! :-) And Iceland - most amazing place on the planet! Peace!
First plane I ever flew in was a Pan American DC-3 on a flight from Nashville to Memphis, Tennessee. The year was 1960 and I was on my way to Air Force Basic Training. A year later I was an air traffic controller at the international airport at Keflavik, Iceland. Great memories.

Still the most amazing passenger/cargo aircraft ever made. My first ride at 9 years old. School flight Swartkops AF Base Pretoria to Nigel and back. Did flights to Southern and Northern Rhodesia. Trips to Botswana and Namibia. Love the sound of the Old P&W engines. Brings back many memories.78 years old now, but she is still older than me.
Another D Day DC 3 Gooney Bird is being brought back from long term neglect by Mikey and the team at Buffalo Airways.
This wounded war bird is planned to be back in the skies for the 75th anniversary of D Day this June.

I actually had the privilege of flying on DC-3's a few times. I was great, though we hit some air pockets on one of the trips and dropped several hundred feet I thought it was fun and loved every minute of it.
Love the sound of the old radial engines.
The takeoff sounds between 2:15 and 2:48 are almost sexual to me. I literally got chills hearing them again. Thanks to whoever made this video for using audio recording that does justice to the glorious sounds of the old Pratt & Whitneys and Hamilton Standards as well as to the eye candy of this magnificent airplane herself. I have flown in, and flown, DC-3s and C-47s. To me, even all these years of sleek new airplanes later, DC-3s are still the most beautiful airplanes ever made.
Hoggy Dog Thank you, I made the video. I have more videos of this DC-3 like this one: ruclips.net/video/wY-DZLq0iBU/видео.html
+Hoggy Dog - I agree! I got to skydive out of DC-3's for many years. That sound in the cabin at takeoff is unforgettable and made me want to be back in one right then and there!!!! :)
