  • Franklin released a slimmed down and less expensive version of their classic 710!

    710 on Amazon: amzn.to/2vIMqX8
One nitpick I forgot to mention in the video - there's no voltage detector with this stud finder, so you'll have to buy a separate non-contact voltage detector for finding live wires in your walls.

I bought this myself to use and review, and have no affiliation with the manufacturer. The links above to Amazon are affiliate links, which helps me cover the costs of producing product review videos, but adds no additional expense to your purchase.

The T6 is good because it’s compact. The bigger one can get in the way when you have obstructions such as wall mouldings or bezels or uneven drywall surfaces. That’s why the T6 as compact as it is, is actually a better performer than the higher model Franklin Stud finders. Bought a cheap zircon and it fucked me up. Drilled through wiring and pipes, which costed me over $1000 in repairs. Make sure you buy a franklin stud finder and avoid the cheap $10-25 ones. 👍🏻

Try one with double drywall or on e with plywood between drywall and studs

The reason they call it T6 is because of the 6 led sensor lights. But then again if you look at the franklin sensor T11 it sure as doesn’t look like a T shape but has 11 led sensor lights. Nice review and franklin makes good products.

He wasn't saying it's called the T6 only because of the T look. You assumed that lol. Any dumbo would know the 6 has to do with the 6 led's. Now go be a know it all somewhere else lol

Great review. I was wondering if it would be able to detect metal studs

Thanks! I can't say for certain on metal studs since I haven't tried it with one, but I'm pretty sure it will work fine. I just ran out to the garage and stood up my tape measure behind the test wall that I built. Without me touching the tape, it found it just fine - and that should be thinner material than a metal stud.

What about with double 5/8" sheetrock up? Will it pick up accurately?

My little $7 C.H. Hanson magnetic stud finder still works..js🤷‍♂️
I'm just looking for something easier to map out entire stud

How do you find the actual center of a stud? It looks like it will light up three lights, but then you can shift it a little bit to the left or the right and get it to light up a slightly different set of three lights that is about 1/4 or 1/8 of an inch off.

    • @DoresoomReviews
      @DoresoomReviews  4 года назад +1

It's only got about as much resolution as half the distance between the lights. You can get a more exact idea of stud center by moving it back and forth a little to see where it transitions. But really it doesn't matter if you're 1/8" off center in most applications - I always just slap it on the wall and go with the center light as the center of the stud.

Sorry, I don't have any scrap cement board, or anywhere to test on that type of installed material.

The bane of my existence is 1/2" furring channel. I've never found a stud finder that will go deep enough to find the stud. I just resort to a pin punch.

    • @DoresoomReviews

I used this recently on 5/8" drywall in my garage and it was sketchy in a few places. So I doubt it would work with finding studs beyond furring strips either.
