I don’t know how I found this but I’m so thankful. My grandma was 99 years old and she passed away yesterday. I miss her terribly. These videos have made me feel so good and laugh so hard. Thank you!
I feel awful I didn't know he had dementia All the best to someone who gave us so many great laughs and educated me on so many animals God Bless you Jack Prayers for you and your family 💗
Yes he is a national treasure with his love for animals that he shared, and that we would never had a chance to see. Jack taught us so much during these appearances. My heart goes out to the Hanna family.
Don, thank you so much for this hilarious collection. I laughed continuously for the entire video. It was much appreciated in this depressing time right now.
As manic as Jack was with David, their comic chemistry was epic. Pray for Jack as he battles dementia. It is a devastating illness that affects not only the patients, but their entire families.
Always 💜ed when Jack Hanna appeared on David Letterman! So entertaining! Always wondered if they practiced beforehand or was it more adlib?! Jack's comedic timing was hysterical and he was a great straightman, too! 🤣 Would love to see their Behind the Scenes story! Loved talking about Dave & Jack at work the next day, too! 🙏Prayers for Jack.
Soo agreed! You spoke it well! Out of all the Animal experts on late night shows back in this area, these 2 prob were my fave together. Except for Steve Irwin on anything :)
46:51 For anyone who doesn't know, wolves are a keystone species in North America. Yellowstone National Park was nearly destroyed because we wiped out the wolf population there. Without the wolves, elk were able to ravage the local foliage unchecked; that's why we began shipping 'em back in. So while ranchers may not like it, we need wolves. There are ways to limit and discourage wolves from accessing livestock, and the costs associated with those methods are just part of the cost of running a farm. Cows, sheep, llamas, pigs, chickens, and other livestock are in no danger of extinction. It's better to occasionally lose a couple of those than to lose the entirety of a natural habitat forever.
Wolves are also needed as predators to coyotes. The population of coyotes in Canada has risen dramatically since the wolf population decreased. They are encroaching farmlands.
Jack is a Columbus legend. In 2016, I went to the zoo on opening day for spring with a friend (unsurprisingly, it was cold and no one was there- not a busy time of year.) Jack Hannah zoomed by on his golf cart and waved at us. It was like seeing a celebrity. I'm so sad about his dementia. I love these videos.
Love seeing a lady guest when Jack Hanna is on. This lady is the opposite of the last one I saw yesterday. This one was eager to touch and hold the animals, kept reaching for them and talking to them. Puts an extra set of interesting reactions to watch! 👏👍👍😂
Don, I just ran across this and wanted to thank you for it! Totally entertaining, interesting plus the amusing antics of two great folks~David and Jack are a hoot together. Loved meeting all the animal guests! Just amazing! This compilation made for a wonderful late afternoon of entertainment!
@@dongiller I will be watching all 11 again! Such great fun and so fascinating. I love the creature kingdom! I'd now love to visit the Columbus Zoo due to this.
Damn. I never heard about Jack Hannah having dementia. Im so sorry to hear that. Alot of late night tv was spent enjoying Jack on Letterman and that lady Joan Embry from the San Diego Zoo on Johnny Carson. I wish Jack the best for him and his family. One more beautiful thing I'll miss. Take care Jack.
I love the way it seems like everything Jack knows about these animals was learned in the green room with flashcards....and that he just threw a lemur at Dave.
I've watched this entire series, and I love Jack Hanna and his interactions with Dave. But good lord, you've got a better chance of getting accurate animal facts from Pokemon.
The second animal made realize this is the animal that I would always hear in jungle movies or jungle scene.but never knew who was making that sound until now amazing!
Jack was a fantastic guest on Dave's show I always watch these videos with a big smile on my face. Jack unfortunately has Alzheimer's now. A very sad ending for a wonderful man...
35:16 now THIS is a truly impressive animal guest. I'd like to see this on James Cordon or Jimmy Fallon... yeah right lmao. Letterman had easily the best lineup of animals on his show in general was unsurpassable.
I love these animal guests on Letterman. When I read that 69% of animal life has declined in the world just since 1970, these animals to me are precious. I don't need to touch them or raise them, just knowing they exist in the world is enough for me. I just want them to survive.
My girlfriend of many years got me interested in Jack Hanna to the point of us seeing him many times in Sea World San Diego. He was always super friendly and approachable and didn't deserve what happened to him.
I had no idea JH had dementia. I can't even imagine what it's like to forget your whole life. Especially all the knowledge and bonds he had with all his animals. Sorta like losing Steve Irwin all over again. I wonder if he watches himself on these videos to try to remember.
I really enjoyed watching these animals and seeing Jack Hanna again. Thank you for uploading, Don. But Dave seemed to do everything in his power to confuse Jack and make him much more agitated than his dementia would have caused. Dave would show off by explaining all the details about an animal wherever possible, constantly interrupting and usually wrong, wasting air time. Also, Dave would often ask a question, then interrupt Jack while he was trying to answer. He did this in every sequence and it made me cringe. I'm glad though, to see that other viewers chose to enjoy the apparently humorous side of this madness. And was so impressed with the ways Jack found to insert his own special brand of humor in some of his responses. Unfortunately, his family announced recently that his condition is progressing much faster than they had anticipated. Our prayers are with you, Jack.
Jack’s “condition” didn’t exist at this time. He was first diagnosed earlier this year, 13 to 15 years after these appearances. One might argue that early symptoms may have been present at this time, but one would first need to know more about his medical history before suggesting it. And since none of us have access to such facts, it would be ignorantly foolish to go there.
I pray for Mr Hanna and Mr Letterman, dearly. I don't know what you're talking about and I watched these originally as they aired, long LONG ago. I watched every jack Hanna on Letterman from 2000 till several years before his retirement. Jack was still somewhat young here, and any condition he had was definitely not known to the public. Only known that he was a little wired or whatchawanna call it. It's doubtful anyone at The Late Show would've known outside of the fact he was easily distracted and loopy. IfJacks agent or manager, whatever they're known by in his animal realm, knew he was early onset or anything, it'd have been their responsibility, not Dave's, to wager whether it safe to have him do public talk shows back more than 15 years ago. You're talking in detail about soemthing as if anyone knew Jack Hanna had anything back then. You shouldn't speak so soon. These tapings were forever ago! All he did was seem sorta something like manic, but Dave most certainly didn't do all of what you're accusing 🙄🤔🤔🤔😑😒🤨🤥
@@dongiller totally agreed. Thank you for defendimg the truth. And I am super grateful forever that you have shared tapes of these beloved segments!!! 🙏🙏🙏 I may have a few on VHS but I wish I could tape your copies

The verbal interaction between Dave and Jack is priceless.
All of a sudden I find myself obsessed with these 'Animals on talkshow' videos. 😆
You are not alone lol

Don, your Letterman clips have done a lot to help get me through almost 2 years of mostly working from home relatively sane.
And after many hours of these, I'm pretty sure Jack Hanna is my favorite recurring guest. Unless you count Lyle the Intern.
Thank you for sharing such incredible moments.. Praying for. Jack and family.
I watched these wen they came out.back in the day.it was so refreshing to watch

I loved when Jack Hannah would come to the show!!! So funny!!!😂
Oh wow look at the size of the tigers paws. Oh just love Jack Hanna! So wonderful in what he taught us.
Jack Hanna's a natural comedian. He's funny without even trying.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Jack’s family and friends. Dementia is a horrible way to leave this life. ♥️
Especially when you've lived a life of giving and making memories.
Yes, especially when he was so vital and witty all throughout his life.
I did not know he had dementia What a mean nasty disease

As manic as Jack was with David, their comic chemistry was epic. Pray for Jack as he battles dementia. It is a devastating illness that affects not only the patients, but their entire families.
Actually, Jack is showing the agitation & frustration that starts in the beginning of dementia...before it becomes unavoidably evident.
Or DAVE CAUSES FRUSTRATION and agitation.
Hopefully he is getting 24/7 care at his home and was not put in a nursing home. He probably had enough wealth.
I love Jack Hannah 😻
Prayers going up.

Their chemistry was that Jack was nuts, and Letterman played off of that fact! Comedic magic😂
