Beautiful restoration job. That is made for one thing--pushing scrapers!

They had my favourite cab on both those D9H's. Lovely to see :-)

Got a D353 engine off one of these and put on a D9G and had to change out the injection pump and govenor as the slave engine would only do idle or full throttle using the air controls and needed to decelerate properly.

This unit looks home made, it would work sort of OK but not as effective as the Petersen models with air controls, single operator and a hydraulic cylinder for weight transfer. Those were an incredible push loading outfit!!

Working for PKS in 1970 and we had 2 dd9s pushing 13 651b's loading shot basalt rock . They are murder on tracks. 2500 hours and they are junk . No turning pins and bushings , just scrap them .
We also had an x10 experimental for trials . From what I understand cat had to down size from that because the transmission wouldn't stand up .

^it may be your favorite cab, and it works well, but try running one in the dead of winter. I've spent a good bit of time standing on the blade frame with my fingers in the radiator grill holes to defrost um!!!! No comments about reversing fan blades, it's still cold out!!!! Lol

Pity the controls aren't linked together properly and synchronised to rev up etc in unison, as they are supposed to!
See video of 'Dual D-9's Pushing Scraper 2' for proper set-up.

How does a ICE have anything to do with steam?

Beautiful, i reckon during them slow turns it might be better to throttle up the rear engine to assist instead of dragging the rear machine as it appears but nonetheless great to hear 2 D353,s like that.

It didn't need two drivers, he was just there for the ride, he put his hands behind his head to show he wasn't doing anything?
