      Slashes as shown above only work if your karambit is double edged, wich most of them are not. Also flipping in a real fight is a huge risk, not worth it.

    • @lesliemiller5790
      @lesliemiller5790 3 года назад +3

      that's correct. the Karambit was designed to somewhat mimic a tiger claw. I ain't seen any tigers that were able to flip their claw around or use to stab with. Plus, slashing is more effective that stabbing, because it is harder to defend against and causes a larger wound with much more blood loss

      @Wolfreign Valenford it sounds like criminals and thieves as you say were using it because it's effective. The supposed Noble warriors sound like they were dressed for show not for fighting. To show off while parading around as a full military group. That's a luxury not many of us have. If a Westerner carries this it's because it's effective for what we need it for, which is self defense. If I have to pull this out it's because me or my family's LIFE is in DANGER. The history is irrelevant. And if me or my family's life is in danger, a merciful death for my opponent is not a concern I have #sorrynotsorry

    I'm 72 and will practice these initial moves until I feel confident enough if I'm attacked. The odds are nobody is going to expect an old dude to slice and dice. I realize the FIRST strike is the MOST important, then you can "go to work" Served in our Military for 33 years as a Medic and carried a 45. Am also a staunch supporter of OUR Second Amendment, which keeps the government from shutting down the rest even though they did a pretty good job on the First with then "faint of heart". When we switched over to the 9mm, I put in a request to keep my 45. It was approved. Really like how you go to the extension and back. Really loving your stuff. I’ve been Interested In Filipino martial arts latley but because of covid I can’t join a gym to train. I’ve got a question. As you get more comfortable with these basic strikes and switching to extended grip. Would it be beneficial to add a punch or palm strike with your empty hand when you switch from extended grip back to the standard grip? To keep them distracted while you are more vulnerable switching grips. It’s a principle we used in Krav Maga quite a bit when I trained it to always add distraction strikes if your technique puts you in a more vulnerable position.

      Don't use this guy's techniques with your blade in a real fight for your life, you'll get your ass killed and would be better off unarmed because if you're close enough to wildly swing that blade to cut someone, you're also close enough for them to punch you in the face. Those grips weren't stable either, so say you did recreate that series of cuts flawlessly, the force of impact from your blade making contact might just be enough to lose your grip on it and drop it. Learn a bit of hand to hand combat with your fists first, pick up a few grappling techniques from jujitsu or wrestling, and MAYBE bolster what you learned with a karambit blade if your life is well and truly in danger. Though you're likely better off without it.

      Double-edged Karambits give you twice the possibilities in terms of strikes, but you have to watch out cause they're illegal lots of places. That aside, they're great. I personally haven't ever held a Shasta, but from what I understand, they're pretty massive knives. Probs wouldn't wanna be flipping that around

    I don't have a training one I just have the crazy sharp pointy one I bought without thinking and saw the store had mislabeled the price on one of the 2 for sale and it was less than half of what I should be. I asked to buy it and they immediately saw someone messed up but being good merchants they sold it for the incorrect price it was listed. Knew it had to sting. Now I have this silly dangerous thing and my other knife broke and its a shit area so I carry it in its sheath thingy under my shirt. The sheath is good so I have it handle down so I can get it fast if needed but it won't fall out on its own. Theres been a string of robberies where 1 or 2 unarmed ppl attack and beat up someone and rob them. Fuck that.

    How to Use the KARAMBIT Knife! Karambit Basics. I will always advise starting with a training Karambit, but hey, I know some need to show off to their friends and I totally understand. It's a really cool knife. In this video I cover the basic and really only flip and some basic techniques with this incredibly awesome blade!

    Last year. I was shocked when my friend buy it for me and it is unexpected that he will bought that karambit for me, then its is live blade and im scared a little bit because when i flip my karambit it slashed my arm but the wound its look like dot( . ) ...... But now I can flip it continuously but sometimes i hit my arm. And i know that is part of a practicing but i need to be more careful on it......................

      Joe Da FiddlerStickPH I wouldn't practice flipping as much if you really wanna know how to use the knife. If you wanna know how to use it for self defense it's best to train on someone with a practice knife, but know where to aim like the thighs, wrist, and throat. After getting the basics down you can work on takedowns which are especially fun

    Hey, quick question. Is there’s any advantage on using Karambit than other knives like just regular pocket knives or fixed handle knives? I see Karambits almost everywhere, but I just ain’t sure why they use them.

    • @kalicenter
      @kalicenter  5 лет назад +1

      Not really. In the end it comes down to whatever the individual wants to do/use.

      Kali Center Oh, so it’s just personal preference. Thanks for replying. Like I said before, lots of my friends just carries them around in some sort (like boot knives or neck knives) and I just wasn’t sure if there was any advantage I didn’t knew about beside being easy to conceal.

      @@justin764 the karambit can actually slice where other knives can't tbh and the Karambit is shaped like a claw now apply that claw shaped metal with basic knowledge of human anatomy and you got the deadliest knife on earth Google even confirms this

      @@bluehornet197 I dunno, all i see with that blade shape are many flaws, against something like a dagger, bowie, or a field knife. Have never handled one but have trained with blades for many years, mostly in HEMA and i cannot see any advantage with a blade like this. Some people prefer nunchucks others prefer a kali stick, but the kali stick has a huge advantage over nunchucks. I reckon the same goes with this style of knife. Just seems like a horribly flawed design.

    I had a dream where I buy a 3 dollar Karambit it's dull but I sharpened it for like a few hours and then someone ask how do you used it and I use my own neck as the demonstrate and I cut my neck but thankfully I got tissue and a needle so I string and also it's a dream but when I wake up I immediately check my neck and there's no cut.
