    Found 26.5" barrel, fluted. Magnum gas. Only issue, I think I will need an adjustable gas block. It's hurting brass, too much, too soon but, just this side of ejecting while still pushing so, the 2 ejector holes dig into the case base. lol
    Probably going to go with the Superlative Adjustable block and, I'm going to order that same hand guard you found; mines fine but, keymod.
    Oh, and widen the port, mines is ejecting but, will flip brass backwards ejecting.. Second shot Is mixed, might eject, might get caught sideways...
    I forgot about that when I was working on my 450 Marlin, which shares the lower and BCG with this beast...
    🤣💪 Yes, 26.5" with a brake...it's loud...

    • @azreloader5968
      @azreloader5968  2 года назад +1

      Yea that gun with the break is loud. I forget to put my ears on and fired a shot and the noise hurt my ears so bad they were ringing for 2 days. I’ll never make that mistake again.
      Since I’m doing my load development, I have fine tuned my adjustable gas block, but most of my brass is ejecting forward. Which means it’s over gassed, but I’ll figure that out when it comes time. So far I’ve come across a load that I’m shooting just barely over 1” groups at 300 yards.

    Hey there! Found your video and just want to say it's great as I am building effectively the same rifle. (Just waiting on the barrel.) Lots of great info that answers a lot of questions that I had. One question I do have for you though. Have you tried and or had any luck with longer magazines? I've tried a few different brands both polymer and metal. and after about 6 or 7 rounds in they jam up the follower and bulge the magazine.

    If you had to do it all over again what would you change or do different. I'm doing the same thing with 6.5 prc or 6.5 wsm . Is the barrel to long ? Or good

    • @azreloader5968
      @azreloader5968  Год назад

      I would not do it in 300 wsm and I wouldn’t do a Bull barrel. Don’t get me wrong, I love it, I just wish I would have searched it more. I’m not getting the accuracy out of it like I wanted. It is accurate, but not bolt action accurate. My expectations were to high and to an extent probably unrealistic for a rifle in the AR platform.
      I probably would have done the build in a smaller cartridge like 6 creedmoor or 6.5 creedmoor. The amount of money I put in it, I could have built or bought a good bolt action rifle chambered in 300 wsm.
      Again it’s fun as heck to shoot. I get a lot of people that are in awe of it and want to shoot it when I’m at the range. So that awesome.

    • @JeffAcuff-c5e
      @JeffAcuff-c5e Год назад

      I have one in 6.5 creedmoor and 308 super accurate one wilson combat barrel and one a faxon .. Do you think the accuracy is bad because of deadshot barrels ? They have no guarantee or return policy there not know for super accurate stuff . But that doesn't mean there barrels aren't. I know you can get very good accuracy out of an ar 10 , I'm just not sold on deadshot . That's my question. Just FYI of you had a creedmoor or 308 you would want a wsm we always want what we don't have lol !

      @azreloader5968  Год назад

      So the barrel is a green mountain barrel. It’s accurate, sub moa. My expectations were just higher than what they should’ve been. It shoots 2-1/4” groups at 500 yards with one load I worked up. For whatever reason I wanted 1/4 moa 😂 that’s what I’m getting out of old 30-06 bolt action

    😂 good clean, self etching primer and Rust-Oleum camouflage paint, save your money with all the anodization nonsense which doesn't look even remotely natural in the woods. Yes thise stocks are heavy AF, just built a MKXII SPR clone with one and a 6.5 Grendel long range build with that stock, definitely CHONKY. I wouldn't mind building an AR10 and sorta like the idea of a .300 WSM although the 7.62x51mm NATO or the 6.5mm Creedmore would be the obvious option for ease of sourcing ammunition in an off situation. I have the old venerable .300 Win Mag bolt rifles but the short mag seems just as capable of not moreso.

    I build and sell AR 10 uppers in WSM cartridges with the current one is in 375-300WSM which I use Pac Nor super match barrels - KAK WSM bolts and any brand of AR 10 bolt carriers work
    KAK does sell AR 10 uppers for WSM cartridge builds.
    I went to using the 18.5 inch gas tube to stop the early opening of the bolt and it stopped the smoked residue on the casings and stopped sometime fire from the opening the both on firing when even the adjustable gas block is tuned correctly.
    Firing WSM cartridges in the AR 10 is to much flame from unburnt powder to use shorter gas tubes.
    No problems for me with steel magazines using AR Stoner 20 round mags

      @@renaissanceman7145 I have remembered another importance I learned building AR10 uppers with these magnums is to use a White Oak 18.5 inch gas tube to delay bolt opening stopping smoke and sometimes fire coming from a bolt opening under pressure.
      Just look up white oak gas tubes then look for the 18.5 inch ones.
      If you get black smoke residue on the fired cases the bolt is opening under pressure, and you don't want that so change the timing of the bolt opening with the longer 18.5 gas tube.
