Calypso Rose- MacArthur Lewis performed her first hits, "Fire In Me Wire," & "A Man is A Man" (1967) under the Mighty Sparrow's label National Recording. Ten years later, she copped the Road March twice - Tempo (1977) & "Come Leh We Jam" (1978), respectively. Due to this, the Calypso King completion was changed to Calypso Monarch. She opened doors for future artists - Denyse Plummer, Denise Belfon, Destra Garcia & Fay Ann Lyons.

On Lord Melody (1926-1988) I will say this- the man was talented from the beginning to the end. He linked up with Lord Kitchener & formed the Old Brigade tent. He won his first Road March in 1949 I believe with "Glory Mama Glory"- I may be a little off. In the 1950s' with the advent of Claypso being so popular in America- The Andrew Sisters took Lord Invader's "Rum & Coca Cola" (1941) to another level- as Chalkdust explained earlier the song is about prostutution- same as Mighty Sparrow 1956 Road March "Jean & Dinah"- which Sparrow wrote originally as a jingle for Salvatore, Scott & Company. Back to Melody- in 1955 he comes out with "Mama Look at Boo Boo" which is made popular by Harry Belafonte & even Nat King Cole (1917-1965). (Belafonte performed the song in Carnegie Hall in New York City in 1959 along with King Radio's 1939 Road March "Mathilda"). In the 1960s' Melody is contracted to perform under Belafonte- I believe along with everybody else thst Harry Belafonte made millions off of Melody's compositions. In 1965, Melody's "Mas" wins Panorama I believe. In the 1970s' with his relationship with Belafonte over, Melody embraces Rastafarianism & returns to The Revue as Master of Ceremonies. Some albums he had around this time include "Mas Is Devil Power" (1972) & "Salt & Pepper" (1974). One of his last hits I could think of is "Brown Sugar" (1982)- watch the video clip on RUclips. Melody, who was suffering from cancer since the 1970s' died in 1988. The Mighty Sparrow paid rich tribute to his friend/ sparring partner with "Play One For Melo" (1989)- "Belafonte must give us an explanation, Come out & say What Happened to Melo's millions? Harry is a multi-millionaire New Yorker, Melo was a poor man & he died a pauper. Tell Harry for me that Lord Melody was calling he name all in the cemetery"!!!
