Thank you for the acknowledgment. My son really loved that R6, maybe should have kept it because he has gone through three bikes since that one. 😀😀
Hey great video Tom,, you are a good man and a good dad.. that is nice of you to help your son out,, I'm sure you are happy to see him back home safe..
Tom smales absolutely, we have a good time working on things together. Thanks for watching!
Great videos you are putting out, really enjoy them 👍 Thanks
Glad to hear, thanks for watching.
I am about to do this job this was handy to see what to do before I get into it. I don't have any special tools but it looks like I will be able to manage.
Yes, it can be done with just basic tools, you got this!
The correct All-Balls oil and dust seal kit (all four seals) is 56-129. 55-117 is pair of oil seals. 57-107 is both dust seals, per the All-balls website.
Thanks, I know 05 was the first year with the inverted forks and then 06-09 had the R and S models....so it’s sort of confusing. Learned a lot by getting the 05.
@@TomsTinkeringandAdventures Yep. the later forks (including up to 2016) can be swapped into the '05 directly, and they use the same seals, but the '05 fork internals are different, so this procedure is a bit different on 2006 and up R6R.
Question. So a 06-16 forks seal won’t fit a 05…?or will it?
If he's got a 2005 R6 and served, he's good people.
He’s a good dude, I wouldn’t talk bad about my son! 😀
Thanks for the helpful video! What fork seal driver are you using in this video?
The seal driver is just something I got off Amazon for cheap

@Suzi Cafran on what channel?
Hi. Great video could you help me? How many mililiters que need?
Thanks for watching, I don’t think I have a copy of the manual for this bike anymore....sorry!
After 20 years i havr the same problem (((
It happens!
Do you have to take the cartridge apart ? Saw a video and they dropped the whole cartridge out as a whole.
Not if you’re just replacing seals.
Of course I’ve got the situation of the bolt not wanting to give way on the bottom. Now it’s stuck open just a bit and leaking oil when I filled one fork.
@@thevideofuzz8584 an impact wrench is very good at taking care of that.
I got it back tight using a broom handle. Would you happen to know what would cause my rebound clicker to be tight after assembly? I can only get one click and it becomes super tight.
@@thevideofuzz8584 I use the broom stick method too. As for the clicker issue, I don’t know…sorry.
My motorcycle won't start after it ran dead in to a curb amd forks are bent it sonds like a taser going off i have a ninja 250 2002 p.s i live in lemon grove to
Derrick Sargeant might have to help you with it.
@@TomsTinkeringandAdventures that would be grate im going to post a video of if and it sounds like it wanted to starte right now it might just be dead and and need new forks
that flat washer goes round side down
I guess if we put it together wrong, it was working good until we sold it!
All Balls racing make this kind of mistakes al lthe time!! IS ANOYING.
In fact if you read on the KIT, you can see there the Yamaha R1 02-05... I KNOW FOR A FACT! that bike uses 43mm stanchions and the R6 uses all way to 2016, 41mm stanchions, so right there is a mistake indication.
The R6s uses 43mm forks too, the same as R6 99 to 04.
From 2006 to 2015, R6 uses 41mm forks.
That is clearly a mistake from them selling you that kit, or maybe you did chose a wrong kit.
You can see on the specs that it says 43 x 55 9.5/10.2 oil seal, and your model uses 41x53x8/10 oil seals (Same as R1 from 1998 to 2000).
KYB and its weird oil seals... jeje
A advise to people when buy AllBallsRacing kits.
Always check the comatibility list to check if the specs on those bikes matches yours even if your bike is not in the list. (For example, on that list... the is no FZ1 or FZ8 and i know that kit will work with those, as they are 43mm)
I’m pretty sure it was our mistake, but you’re correct that their kits aren’t perfect by any means. I’m just glad we got it taken care of, it’s annoying being in the middle of a job like that waiting on parts.
