    My gently-worn things, (I think that’s what they’re called?😂) get hung on the right hand side of the wardrobe, then empty hangers, then clean things on the left. Works for me x

      Oooo, that’s a good system. I started folding as much as I possibly could recently and I think that’s partially why I have no desire to put things back. 😅 I should just start hanging things again.

    Good Morning from Charleston SC ~ back in the day we would have slapped a patch underneath that rip. They should still make iron on patches that are sturdy. Just make sure you center the patch to support all the edges (and you don't feel the patch) I hang my clothes on an "over the door" rack when gently worn. You need a bandeau top for the romper & breasts are always asymmetrical. I'm in the phase of them not only going south, but going southeast & southwest. Fun times. Adorable son ! Have a happy Mother's Day ~ "Nanna" Wanda

      Currently shopping for iron on patches! It seems like that may be the easiest and least obvious option. Thank you watching and thank you for your Nanna insight and wisdom. 😊💕🥰

    I use one of those ladders that you lean against the wall to throw clothes that are worn but not dirty on. That way I can see what’s on there easily and they don’t get wrinkly.

    • @SimplifyingTheSatherns
      @SimplifyingTheSatherns  5 месяцев назад +1

      I like that idea. And now, I’m now imagining a closet with only ladders instead of a bar with hangers. 😍😂

    Love seeing your outfits! For my “worn but don’t need washed” I put command hooks on the back of my closet doors and I hang on a hanger or drape over a hanger to wear again. (2 per door - tops on top hook, bottoms on bottom hooks) I also give myself a time limit. I usually wash my clothes weekly. I give my self 2 wash cycles or 2 weeks.

    • @SimplifyingTheSatherns
      @SimplifyingTheSatherns  5 месяцев назад

      I like that you give yourself a limit. I think I need to adopt that myself. When I finally put all of my basket clothes away it was easily 20 of my 33 items. 🫠 So I think I need to put away at least once every 2 weeks or before it starts over flowing haha.

    You can totally mend those jeans!
    Patch of fabric behind the tear, then lots of hand running stitch across the patch to about 1/2” either side, 2 directions at right angles to each other. Use lovely coloured thread and make it a feature!
    Perhaps do some stitching on the front of the jeans too so the original tear becomes decoration and doesn’t stand out like a sore thumb 😊
    Have to say though - those jeans don’t seem to be made well, despite their name 😂

    • @SimplifyingTheSatherns
      @SimplifyingTheSatherns  5 месяцев назад +2

      I also felt very it was VERY ironic that the Madewell jeans were the ones that fell apart. 🤣 Thank you for the patch tip! It’s going to be a process figuring out the best method for patching in an area such as the butt crack. 🙈😂 I don’t have super strong feelings about making that a feature lol! But I hear what you’re saying. 😅

      Actually, this is a great idea - thank you! :) I have an old pair of Levis jeans that ripped in the same way, but right on the very top part of the inner leg. It will be a challenge to design some embroidery that looks cool, but it might be worth a try. I *LOVED* those jeans, and they have been in the back of my closet for years, because I can't bring myself to throw them away, and I have not been able to find the same colour again.

      I had to Google Sashiko. I was pleasantly surprised and spent far too long looking at pictures of Sashiko. 😅😍😍 I just don’t know how I feel about stitching beautiful embroidery into the butt crack of my jeans. 🫠🙈 Most anywhere else I could get on board. 😆

    So you are the reason I started the 333 capsule wardrobe for myself and so far this season it’s going really well. I’ve donated a lot of clothes that don’t fit/i don’t wear but our climates are so different 😅
    I live in North Alabama and we’re technically classified as subtropical so all my spring wardrobe has been shorts and tee shirts. Which will also be my summer wardrobe as well. And probably most of the fall wardrobe as well, save for a couple sweatshirts her and there. And winter here is so mind, jeans and a sweatshirt will get you by 98% of the time 😂

      Oh I’m so glad it’s working well for you!!! I love the sound of your weather. But I know it’s not for the faint of heart. 😅 Sometime I look at property in the south, but I know I wouldn’t survive. I was complaining about 83 degrees today lol.

    I enjoyed your video! I also tend to wear my pants a lot before washing, so they either live on my floor 😂 or I put them away. I'm impressed that you're wearing proper outfits everyday. I really need to start doing that. I just can't stand to wear jeans all the time, but my linen or other comfy pants start to really feel dumpy after a while, so I want to try dressing better at home. I'm always looking for inspiration, so thank you! P.S. how cute is your toddler! My 19mo is already driving me crazy. I can't wait until we can actually communicate.

    • @SimplifyingTheSatherns
      @SimplifyingTheSatherns  5 месяцев назад +1

      Many thanks. 😊 But before you go thinking I’ve got it together and I’m wearing “proper outfits” outfits everyday. I need to throw out this disclaimer. 😅 1. Most days I’m in PJs until noon. 2. The things I’ve found that I wear regularly are comfortable enough to basically be considered fancy pajamas. 3. My leggings are very often my go to when weather appropriate and I’m not leaving the house.. and in the summer.. the leggings will shrink and turn into bike shorts. 😂 But I get what you’re saying.. it feels nice when you go about your day wearing something that feels intentional and I guess I’ve kind of found that sweet spot between comfort and looking like I’ve got my life together. 😆 Now I want to do a video of my most unfashionable but very functional outfit choices. 🤓

      @@SimplifyingTheSatherns that would be fun to see hah. Maybe I just need to wash my pants more so they dont look so sloppy. 🤣 I always feel better about myself in the summer when I wear dresses, so I have that to look forward to.

    • @SimplifyingTheSatherns
      @SimplifyingTheSatherns  5 месяцев назад +1

      I feel the same way about summer.. and jeans. They really look like totally different pants when they get a wash. 😅 They’re just never as comfy. 🫠 Oh also, on the topic of your 19mo. That age is so cute! But the lack of communication is SO crippling some days. That will all change in a couple months. 😊 Then it will be a different kind of chaos haha.

    • @lindsayschenker1172

      @@SimplifyingTheSatherns I'm sure it will be chaos hah! So overstimulating, but so cute at the same time. I can't wait until he can just chill with me, instead of terrorizing me all day 🤣

    "I'm not your mom." I feel sooooooo seen! I've recently pulled myself out of a couple situations where I was turning into "mom". It's not always easy to do, but it is necessary. Indeed, I was even considering leaving the door to more mom-ing open. Nope! Nada! Nyet! "I'm not your mom." Thank you for the gentle, yet humorous, reminder. 🤓💖
    Also, I live in my leggings. That's pretty much all I have. Going through weight loss (intentional and sloooooowwwwwww) makes buying anything else rather sketchy.

    • @SimplifyingTheSatherns
      @SimplifyingTheSatherns  5 месяцев назад

      Oh yes, I imagine mom-ing is a hard habit to break and that even when kids are grown there’s still an urge to nurture and guide when there’s a need. I’m going to struggle with that I already know it. 🤣
      Leggings are like old friend you know you can always count on. I’m feeling sad that it’s about to be far too hot to wear mine. 😭

    You can always do a throwback to the 60's a put a Snoopy patch over the rip in the jeans and wear it with a fringed vest. :-) Remember that making videos in the disruption, not your toddler. Enjoy every minute of your children.

    • @SimplifyingTheSatherns
      @SimplifyingTheSatherns  5 месяцев назад +1

      I couldn’t bring myself to put poor Snoopy in the butt crack of my jeans. 🤣🤣 I’m just imagining the reactions of people noticed. 😆 You’re right about my videos and my toddler. I’d just love to get the thoughts out of my head in one attempt.. or even 2 haha. 🫠

    Hi Aubrey. I'm sorry to hear that your jeans are ripped. I've fixed rips like that before with a fabric underneath and then I've sewn back and forth over the rip with the sewing machine. I've actually found some useful videos on RUclips before.
    The romper that you need a bra for, could you wear it with a t shirt underneath?
    As for the clothes hamper, I hardly ever wash jeans, once every few months, the rest of the clothes, I put them away in their place inside out so I know they've been worn once. I have to have them in their usual place otherwise it's for me 😊

    • @SimplifyingTheSatherns
      @SimplifyingTheSatherns  5 месяцев назад +1

      All good ideas! Thank you! I especially like that you put your worn clothes away inside out. One less step to get them where they should go. 😊

    Madewell? I think not! I have 2 pairs of dress pants that are frayed all along the seam at the back because of all the tiny elastic (elastane?) breaking. It's so frustrating!
    Those were some cute little check-ins along the way.

    • @SimplifyingTheSatherns
      @SimplifyingTheSatherns  5 месяцев назад +1

      I’ve had that happen several times in the past. It’s very frustrating. I stopped drying my pants/jeans and I thought that was going to make my jeans last forever. I guess not. 🤪 Thank you, I think he’s pretty adorable. ☺️

    I just put my clothes away again when I wore them and they aren’t stained or smell. Why shouldn’t they go back into the closet when they’re still wearable?

    • @SimplifyingTheSatherns
      @SimplifyingTheSatherns  5 месяцев назад +1

      You’re very right. I actually put them all away last night and I had a “why wasn’t I just doing this the entire time?” moment. Just another example of how I really overthink things. 😅

    I would mend so many things but I’m a nope on a visible buttcrack patch. I’d find the exact same style and color on Mercari or eBay and replace what I loved with an exact second hand duplicate. Sorry for the loss of your favorite pants.

    • @SimplifyingTheSatherns
      @SimplifyingTheSatherns  5 месяцев назад

      100% with you. I just can’t live my life confidently walking around with an obvious butt crack patch. 😅 I’m willing to try a denim patch inside and hope that does the trick. I had gotten these on Mercari originally about a year ago so I have no idea what wash they were and it’s been so hard finding my size in something that looks close. 🤪 Fingers crossed I can get away with the patch, and if not I’ll be internet Nancy Drew until I can find the same pair. 🤓
