AUGUST IN THE GARDEN 🌻 Kitchen Garden Tour #16 | PNW Gardening 2024 | Raised Beds
I love to watch these videos on realistic items people actually use. I have so many favorites. My favorite lotion is Cerave, the one in the tub, for body and face. African sponge from Amazon is another favorite. I also love using fractionated coconut oil as a moisturizer after I get out of the shower. I can’t wait to try to Ultima. Thanks for the video.
I defiantly need to get that tincture! One of my current favorite things is my weighted unicorn from pillowfort. The weight is absolutely perfect!
I loved this video! I got so many ideas of things to add to my wish list for Christmas. One of my favorite things lately has been my hip seat carrier I use to carry my 30 pound toddler around when she refuses to use her stroller lol.
I'll be looking into your electrolyte powder - need something different sometimes for my water. That birdfeeder is awesome, I've not seen one before with the solar light. My middle grand (4.5) loves filling all the feeders around the yard when he's here.
One of my favorite things is winter accessories for my two little dachshunds 🥲 when we walk at the park every day an elderly lady gives them treats and always comments on their clothes. ❤
Loved this and thank you for sharing your favorites! One of my favorite things is ginger tea, it’s so soothing and like warm flat ginger ale but in a good way! I also love to read especially historical fiction and one of my favorite books is next year in Havana by Chanel Cleeton love so her books about cuba and Miami in the 50s and 60s!
My favorite thing is watching your videos! I really enjoyed your garden, property tour and your favorite toys. My son is obsessed with the tv 😢 so I can’t wait to see how it goes with your next video.
Current favorite thing: going to the library and checking out dvds lol
Hello! Nicole here! First off, thank you for introducing me to Simply Living Well by Julia Watkins. 🌿 I cannot wait to make my first batch of fire cider! What a great book. I also love the beautiful and minimalist-ish life that my husband and I cultivated over the past many years. Currently one of my favorite things is (are) …… my Heavy Bag gloves! They are so fierce and allow me to move big feelings with big energy out of my body. Healthy coping tools for the win! 💚 Love your content! Thank you for sharing and inspiring. Sending good ol vibes from CT. ✨
Love your video, as always!!! Definitely checking out the water cleaning system. My favorite go-to currently is tallow balm. I use it on so many things! I finally got a RUclips account to comment on this video 😂🤌🏼
How quickly did I add The Dutch House to my Libby app? One mention of Tom Hanks as the reader and I was sold! I wanted to recommend another historical fiction novel as one of my favorite things: All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. So incredibly moving and his writing is just so beautiful 💛
I love the Tree to Tub line of facial/body care!
One of my favorite things right now is my CeraVe skin renewing night cream. It's so heavy and lovely and yet doesn't irritate my sensitive skin. Inquiring minds want to know... Can you comment on your fav sunscreen and if you have eye sensitivity with sunscreen usually? I find I'm wanting to take face sunscreen off quickly as it will burn my eyes (not as bad, but almost like I've put vicks under my eyes). Also, is there a strong scent? I'm fairly scent adverse. I'm always looking for a face sunscreen but not willing to try a new one until I've used one up... But i hate using them so they last a long time.
Definitely interested in checking out the cookbook! One of my favorite things is my bread maker!
Sending love and good wishes back from Canada! 🍁 My favourite brand is a Canadian company called ATTITUDE. I've seen their products are available in the US from the Container Store and on Walmart's website. I really love their liquid laundry detergent and dish soap that come in eco refill boxes. I tried their dishwasher tablets but wasn't in love. I only use them for soaking my Contigo travel mug to remove tea stains now but I take them out of the plastic wrap first. I had to give up coffee in 2023 because it hurt my stomach and tea is bothering me sometimes so the mushroom coffee alternative is intriguing. Is it something you can just add milk to or do you find it needs a sweetener?
So sweet of you. ❤ I appreciate how practical this list is. It’s not full of random crap and some absolutely cool things I’ve never seen. Can I find your little headband/wrap somewhere? It’s adorable ❤ My wishlist is one of the brewmate no spill water bottles (toddler mom 😂). And my current favorite thing my sorel out n about boots. Comfy to walk around in and keep my toes toasty and dry this time of year is a must.
Now I have some great adds to my Christmas list.. I can never really think of anything! My absolute favourite lip balm of all time is Lucas Paw Paw Ointment - it's all natural, made from the paw paw fruit, smells amazing. Really nourishing for lips and wears off beautifully (I hate it when you get residue or build up on your lips from a lip product). It's also so affordable, it's the best!!
love this video :) one of my multi year favorites is the Almay skin tint from target, good light medium coverage, lightweight, lasts all day and decent ingredients for drugstore product! A second is the yoto player for my toddlers, great screen free option!
I will definitely be checking the sweaters! One of my favorite things is my nespresso coffee machine! It’s so perfect for a cozy drink 🥰
It's the simple things that can be the most joyful! Loved this video as someone who is trying to be a practical consumer. My favorite thing in my season of life right now is my "Brain Busters Word Search" so simple but makes me feel calm ❤ thank you for your awesome content!
Love this! One of my current favorite things is our ice cream maker. I'm not a lover of single use kitchen appliances, but I finally caved and bought one because we love our ice cream around here! 😂 There is no going back! It tastes way better and is free of all the extra ingredients 🙌
Although I am in Canada and not eligible for giveaway, I appreciate all the suggestions of your favourite items. I will be purchasing some of them . Thank you as well for the book suggestions. Definitely will be reading the last three mentioned. Thanks so much and enjoy your vlogs.
This was so enjoyable! Thank you for being a breath of fresh air and down to earth. It’s so relatable and appreciated. Off to go enjoy my beautiful life too!
My favorite calendar was always "British Country Gardens" by Clive Nichols. Since 2002, I would get one every year to hang in my kitchen and then save them when the year was over. (Because the photos were so pretty!) But when they became increasingly hard to find I realized that I could reuse them. (I didn't write on them.) This doesn't always work, for example, this year being a leap year it threw the dates off. (So I got an Addams Family calendar instead 😂) Not sure if this makes sense, but my calendar hoarding has paid off since I am reusing/recycling. Also, it seems Clive no longer makes this calendar anymore so I'm happy I have the old ones to enjoy. I am coveting your robot vac. I just checked your link and Amazon has it on a black Friday deal for more than $100 off. So I'm thinking... Also think I'm going to order the electrolyte powder. I use Liquid IV or LMNT almost daily but am always curious to try something else and I like that the Ultima is available in a jar. I might get the sample pack first so I can try all the flavors before ordering the big jar. Lastly, I love the book recommendations! Will add those to my list. Thanks, Aubrey - I really enjoyed this 😊
I love my owala water bottle. I love that I can drink out of it as if there's a straw without an actual straw....so no having to tip it up. I got mine at target but I'm sure they are on amazon.
One of my current favorite things (and my husbands!) is the chocolate croissant candle from Trader Joe’s. Makes your house smell like you made cookies. And if you’re still taking questions for your q&a, when and how did you introduce potty training for your boys? Thinking about introducing it to Elias soon but he’s still pretty young so idk how he’ll do.
One of my favorite things is the heavy copper stock pot that I got for less than $20 at a garage sale. Gotta love a good deal!
Love all the favorites! My favorite would probably be the cookbook since I love to cook from scratch with simple ingredients.
I love the recommend for the tincture. I'll be looking into this! The Dutch House book cover was painted by Noah Saterstrom. I took an Art workshop from him a few years ago! I appreciate the book recommendations. Your Favorites list was better than Oprah's for sure!!
I am a total sucker for Oprah’s list every year and really enjoyed yours! I plan on trying out the Sufficient-C powder! My current favorite thing is Lovebug Probiotics, for both me and my little ones! Also, can’t wait to see your No Screen November recap.
Where's the duvet cover from?
I second this!
Major detail fail! 🙈 It’s surprisingly from Amazon. amzn.to/411qYxf
My favorite thing right now is a hair growth supplement (I feel so old saying that. 🫠) The product is called Nutrifol. I’m always skeptical of new supplement products but I’ve been taking this for 4 months now and have new growth everywhere. Yay!!
Ah, the pause for the Seinfeld clip….too funny! So many new products here I’ll have to look into more. A long time favorite calendar of mine is from Amber Lotus, their feathered friends version is so fun and colorful every year and brings some fun to the little corner of my house it hangs on.
The Woodland Wardens calendar from Amber Lotus (such beautiful illustrations! 😍) was the one I was also considering but settled on the Farmers Market for this year.
What a lovely video!! I resonated with your love of your sweater- I found a top that quickly became a favorite at a thrift store, then proceeded to look for it on the resale sites and scored one in another color! And my son has had reactions to some sunscreens so I am very excited to try this one for him. I’ve added some books to my TBR list… I could go on! Thank you for these sweet and honest recommendations. My favorite go-to is Burt’s Bees pomegranate chapstick- I just love how it feels on my lips and gives a hint of color. I’ve been using it for as long as I can remember as an adult, well over a decade, and quit trying other chapstick type products because none compared to it! Thanks again for your videos!
I hope the sunscreen works out for your son! Thank you for your kind comment and watching. ☺️💕
Butt in sun test....and I'm dying here 🙂 I see so many that are skipping that test. The blue "gatorade" made me smile, as I have a blue story involving a girl scout. As her leader I should have NEVER let her on the ride after an entire blue drink. And absolutely to the KEDS ! My go to shoe for decades (& there is a leather KEDS stuck in "bubblegum alley" size 5.5 during a 1995 spelunking trip) My husband has a Roomba story involving his 2 small Chinese Crested & the subsequent clean up from a very sick puppy. So now that I want a robotic vacuum he is not on my team (but I will be getting one soon) YES YES YES to the Outlander series, as that will be on my mom's Christmas gift ( Tablet) and the reading suggestions will also go on there. I could keep commenting, but I will say do NOT put me in the giveaway, as I want someone else to win this amazing basket. I have done so much Swedish death cleaning that I now feel the 5% Scandinavian in my DNA ~ Lovely choices ~ Nanna Wanda , Charleston SC
Adding “Roomba mishaps” to my list of reasons not get a dog. 😬😅 How long did it do for you to complete your death cleaning?
@@SimplifyingTheSatherns about 7 months. But I'm constantly evaluating my inventory. Went to an estate sale today and acquired 2 art pieces & a Waterford decanter, but they're gifts. Please don't give up on a dog & make sure you're home when the robotic vacuum is operating. Your favorite things are spot on~
Yesss, I love these kind of videos, love to get a recommendation from a friend 😊 will 100% get that sunscreen for my daugther! You are so funny ”butt in sun test” 😂 I’ve read probably 6 books in the Outlander series, but I find I loose interest around the sixth or seventh book in series in general. Trilogies are my favourite!
😁💕 Thank you for watching! Book 9 was the hardest for me. But I get what you’re saying about everything past 6. It’s a totally different direction.
3:05 I love how the piece of music ends the moment you set down the wheelbarrow. Thanks for including the hilarious way that the chickens chase after you! 🐔
Both of those were my favorite parts of this video. 😊
One of the things I really love is your sense of rhythm in your videos. The action dances with the music. All the little beats in action/music subtly arriving together. It's lovely. Well done, my girlie.
Sometimes it just works out perfect. Though there is a lot of effort involved haha. Thank you. 😊💕
Oh my goodness, your chickens! Too sweet to see them.
I just love those girls. 😊 Except when they’re pooping on my porch lol. 😂
@@SimplifyingTheSatherns 😄
The PNW is so beautiful. Love how the ladies came streaming out for snacks. Wow, to the pumpkins. Stay safe with all the crazy weather.
Thank you! Thankfully we didn’t get hit too hard with the recent storm and only lost power for a second. I know that wasn’t the case for many people though. ☹️
I love having a good refresh of the house and garden. Even when winter is approaching. Less gardening makes room for cosy indoor projects.😊
Yes! I almost love being house ridden for the cooler months. Until I don’t. 😅 Right now it feels nice to focus on things inside though.
(commenting as the video progresses) Yep, do what you can as you can. It's amazing what limitations, especially time, will do for our motivation. AHHAHHHHAAA!!! I frequently wake up before my "kiddo". He's 46 and I'm a retired semi-insomniac. Evaluating brain...yeah...for me, that would be tea. Dangerous stuff. I gave up on baskets in my kitchen. eeewwwww. I now use antique fancy colanders. Strategic neglect is your friend. I miss being that strong/energetic/limber. awwwwwwwwww! We appreciate you, too! 💖
I like the idea of using colanders instead of baskets for a catch all. I have one I use for eggs, but why not one for all my random crap? Maybe I'll do that if the basket I just got fails me. 😅 I'm imagining "strategic neglect is your friend" as a bumper sticker haha
Not the lady Elaine Fairchild 😂😂
As a kid, I remember not being able to decide if I was scared of her or not. 🤣
Our pups get us up around 7 am, but today it was 3:30 am with armadillo under the house (traps set today) Apparently they don't do well with lower temps here in the Low country. When my grands visit they like to sleep in, unless we're at the beach.
Oh my! What a morning!!! Does armadillo visits happen often? (I did have to Google if people keep them as pets haha) Beach trips = early mornings in our world as well. 😊
@@SimplifyingTheSatherns armadillo have now migrated up to the Carolina's. So we see them often. They love to burrow, cause damage to house foundations and carry Hansens disease (Leprosy) Near sighted little creatures. Thanks for sharing your routines, especially the slime 😁
Oh my goodness! They do a good job at looking harmless, but apparently that’s not the case. 😳
Renovations are hell, especially the prep and cleanup. ❓ How do you envision your life when you're 50? Do you think you'll be working outside the home? Do you think you'll be in a different home/city/state/country? Is there anything you've stored away for if you become a grandmother? (I'm turning 50 in December so that's the main thing on my mind lately.)
Ooooooo, that's a good one. I find myself thinking so much about what's happening at this phase of life that I never really stop to think about what things could look like 18 years from now. Happy ALMOST Birthday. 🎂😊💕
Thank you for having calming filler music. It is so much more soothing than many other creators who use high energy loud music. ❤
Thank you for your comment. 😊💕 I had tried to use upbeat music in the past and it just made me irritable. Calming classical is what we all need. 😉
Oh, I have questions for your Q & A! Do you want more children? What’s the homestead/ bigger property dreams you have? What is your favourite thing you’ve grown in your garden? Would you rather fight 1 horse sized duck or 1000 ducksized horses? The last one is the most important one 😉🦆🐴🐴🐴🐴
Why do I find myself putting the most thought into the last question? My brain will not let me stop. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@ 😂😂😂 I know! It’s a great question!
My kids are teenagers so I’m waking them up 😊
I AM TERRIFIED FOR THE TEENAGE YEARS!! 🤣 Do they get up willingly or is it a fight to get them up? I got up as soon as my alarm went off, but I remember my mom battling my brother to get out of bed.
@@SimplifyingTheSatherns well since I raised them 😉 they mostly always get up right away. Do the hard work when they’re small and reap the rewards when they get older has been my parenting mantra. And now when they’re older we reason about things, they’re really clever.
Valid point haha. I’m hoping Jackson continues the trend of being a morning person like my husband (thankfully he wakes up at 6:30 most days on his own). We’ll see how things go with Alec when we get to the school years. 😅
Oh, that looks like a lot of chaos, fingers crossed for a successful living room finish. We're empty nesters, but when the grand monkey (4 1/2) is here, he's pretty good at sleeping in until 7:30/8.
Thank you! So far so good, just so many things in places they're not supposed to be. 😅 Oh yay for 7:30/8:00! That's not too bad. 😄
My toddler sleeps pretty well. Week days are harder because if he’s not in a deep sleep while my husband is getting up and leaving for work it always wakes him up. Some days he falls back asleep and I have calm until 8:30 (if I can keep the dog quiet and not make too much noise). But other days it’s 6:30/7. As I’m watching this I’m laying in bed watching him roll around in his bed trying to fall back asleep. But the Mama Mama Mama is started so I’m guessing my quiet time is about up. 😂
The husbands getting up is always a gamble! Also.. adding “possible disruption of kid sleep” to my list of reasons not to get a dog. 😅 The sleep until 8:30 days are the best. I get those every once in a while as well. As much as waking up in the morning is not my favorite activity. I love the greetings. Alec has evolved from “mom, mom, mom!” to “mommmmmm! Alec awake!” 😅
Oh my god that’s adorable!! I love when toddlers talk in the third person. 😂😂 So…I adore our dog. She’s my first baby. But I will be really honest and say I love her a lot less with a toddler. I cannot tell you the number of earlier mornings and disrupted/refused naps are because of the dog. She is also a very sweet but neurotic girl. Boxers are so amazing with kids…but they are a handful and a half. 😂
