The main reason why Mario was so bad in Brawl is because that he was no longer touted as the most balanced character like how he was originally portrayed in Smash 64 and Melee back then. Especially since his overall KO power and recovery were the worst that they've every been in the entire history of the Smash series. Basically Mario went from being fairly balanced in Smash 64 and Melee to being severely underbalanced in Brawl back then. That's why Mario is basically an average Joe type of character in the first two Smash titles where he's simply ranked as a Mid Tier character in both games.

I think that I'm practically the only one (or one of the very few people) who actually ranks both Mario and Diddy Kong pretty high up on my personal favorite character list since I find that most people end up ranking them both much lower on their favorite character lists. LOL No one has mentioned Luigi's name so far, but he's also ranked pretty high up there on my favorite character list as well.
Nice video! I think the editing got better as the video progressed; the beginning had a lot of things on scrren which made it hard for me to focus. I'm so bummed that False Swipe continued to focus purely on Pokemon when they made such great retrospective Smash Bros videos. I don't care about Pokemon so the three or four Smash videos are all I've watched.
There are two things that I like to see Honest Content talk about in the future. LOL First, I desperately want to see a Luigi Ranked Smash Retrospective video. Second, I like to have him dig deeper in his Low Tier video where he talks about who's the better Low Tier between Luigi in Smash 64 and Mario in Brawl as well. It could be a pretty interesting a Low Tier battle video. LOL

Brawl was by far the best looking then probably Smash 4. Both I like way better than Ultimate looks wise. Melee Mario isn’t bad. In fact in recent times people are starting to figure him out and learning how to actually kill with him. I would put him in the same tier as Luigi and Doc not a tier below where most people have him.
Love your content man but gotta throw out some suggestions. Being centered in your commentary is a little distracting and makes the usually centered smash camera hard to see. Especially during your move showcases. 😊Otherwise i definitely can get behind you putting yourself into your content. Much respect for what you're doing man!
The green screen and visuals in terms of the videos or images in the background added onto the enjoyment of this video. New style or not, really added to the entertainment. Everything you said in this video was correct though, you really know your stuff. I prefer Smash 64, For Wii U, and Ultimate as games, I always felt like with Melee and Brawl, most of the low and some of the mid tier characters felt in complete, they have moves that look like they should do a certain thing and then they do something complete different or do the opposite. Mario's Back Air in Melee for example, has a hitbox that sends them forward, it is a good move when you do get that version of the hitbox, because it can create more situations for getting another combo going or getting a tech chase read, but honestly it just doesn't make since. I think Ultimate has a really clunky feel to the movement, and Smash 4 was too slow. Every Smash game has it's own draw backs but in terms of my own style I just prefer when I see a certain move and it does what it looks like it should do, unlike Brawl Mario's Fludd, or some of Melee's different hitbox angles. Don't get me wrong there are some moves in current Smash games that have opposite hitbox angles when not expected and we're all like "wtf" but it just seems less often. I think Wave Dashing is amazing and wish it was a thing in Smash Ultimate because it would make me enjoy the game more.

A character with rage is wayyyy more dangerous than a character without rage. So characters want to hold onto it as long as possible, so they can take advantage of it as much as possible. Characters with rage in Smash 4 could kill characters off the top as early as 10% depending on the move of course. So characters essentially wanna use their rage as long as possible before they lose it. Its kinda like MVC3 X-Factor in a way, thats how I see it at least.

Melee Mario Was Badass
Graphically The Brawl Mario was best looking visually. The textures and the Denim etc.
Even as a kid, I've noticed that Mario is a lot thinner (in his face and stomach area) in Melee than he was in Smash 64 back then. LOL
