  • In Trekking the World 2nd Edition, compete to be the ultimate world traveler by choosing itineraries wisely, gaining power with experience, collecting souvenirs, and taking fascinating tours at gorgeous destinations.
The 2nd Edition is a major redesign. Mechanically, here are the three biggest differences:
It's a drafting-&-racing game where you start each turn by choosing an itinerary. 1st edition was a set-collection-&-racing game where you start each turn by drawing cards with no thematic meaning.
In the new edition, you can get special powers for free by going to various destinations, which can be played in combos for big turns.
    It has a solo mode.
There are many other changes as well. No rule is unchanged.
There are also component upgrades. For example, the art fills out more of each card, and the suitcases are now double-layered cardboard with slots for cubes, instead of cardstock.
Other ways 2nd Edition differs from 1st:
    has quicker-to-learn rules
has higher decision complexity (gateway+ instead of gateway)
    feels more like traveling
    has more game-to-game variety
    has more turn-to-turn variety
has more story: better integrated content and gameplay
    is faster to set up
has an expansion that turns it into a mid-weight strategy game, with asymmetrical player powers
has less negative player interaction (no blocking, etc)
    no more 1st player advantage
has bigger “big” turns (including card combos)
feels like it rewards you more, in greater variety

We have the original Trekking the World. While we enjoy it, I love the changes they've made for the second edition, and think they will make it a much better game. Knowing that many of the revisions were informed by the success of the amazing Trekking Through History, I believe that Underdog Games is a studio that wants to put out the best products they can.

Hey Kimberly, thanks for covering the game! I am the developer and designer of the solo and expansion to this game, and I also designed the official solo mode for Oceans which you enjoyed. I'd be curious to hear what you think of this one solo too!!

The blocking was fun in the previous edition. Some of my friends and I blocked each other, which made it competitive.

if we played 5 players, and if there are 1 or 2 person sit in front of you, then they are hard to see the map. this is the minus of this game. and the itinerary token just a card board :(
