Rained for 3-4 days; incredible downpours. Abandoned most clothing after first day, shoes were useless. Vaguely remember sliding down grass hill face first in front of stage, face full of mud. Intense laughter, incredible music and can of sardines on a head full of acid, afterwards. Thank you, Jerry.
I feel like I hit cosmic lottery being born when I was -where I was ,and being able to see jerry over 300 times including this alpine run, theres a lil cottage/inn behind the stage you can stay at ,epic times ,.. feel blessed especially when seeing the state of world today and how hard of time many people are having ...life was sooooo easy back then ...le -sigh
i guess Im asking the wrong place but does anybody know a way to get back into an instagram account..? I was stupid forgot my login password. I love any assistance you can give me.
@Kameron Augustine i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and im in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
and we "still had to stand out in the pourin rain..." Peace to all those who were there for this or all of the last run at alpine.. and to all those who were not, enjoy all this great video that is out now.. those were good times, and we hardly even knew how good we had it...
July 17 was the best show I ever saw, but to have been there for this 3-show run was one of the formative experiences of my youth. I'd been on the bus since 1984, but this was arguably the finest 3-show run of the band's later career. Get all three nights and just try to wipe the grin off your face.
Oh man, the mud surfing was insane! There was a makeshift slip and slide set up in the ground seats, maybe 70 or 80 yards long, just a trench of mud that we were all having a ball in. I had my devil sticks confiscated on the way in for that show
There’s ‘72, ‘77, and ‘89-90. What other band peaks three times? Never again will a band and a human shine as bright as these boys and Jerry did. Whenever and wherever you happen to run into a fellow taper, shake the man or woman’s hand. We owe them a fortune!💀⚡️🌹
Complete rain out the 4 days I was there. Woke up on the morning of day one floating on an air mattress. Met my ex-wife there. I got my miracle when she got the cold. I felt obligated to marry her. May I suggest, that one should never make life changing decisions like asking a woman to marry you in a dead parking lot. I should have got a tattoo, at least that would have been permanent
Nothing like an ode to your dealer. The Dead were banned from Alpine valley after this show. Fans abandoned their cars for 2 miles on the interstate and tore down fences to get in free.

No it didn't. Rained on the last night only. And the 4 night stand the year before was better. But they made a movie in '89.

It is hard.. I was born in 92 living vicariously through you. But also still traveling and seeing everyone. But I wait for bobby to be without john.
Damn, do I ever envy you! Born in ‘78. A tad too late in my book.

this is correctly noted as 7-19-89 (the rain show)... there was no sugaree on 7-17
7-19-89 has to be one of the best shows i've ever heard! Alpine has had some legendary shows for sure!

Shake it Sugaree
Killer set list. Great sound! Was this the legendary rain show? I thought it was in Ohio.
