If they kept at it like that, eventually the armor would've degraded enough from continuous impacts that a shell might penetrate.. at least in real life it would anyway lol. I think at least one of those shells that hit the side went through though.

had a T34 85 make that same shot from 1000meters in warthunder. penned and killed the commander, injured the gunner. no damage to the loader and gun. miraculously. then anotber T34 hit the turret ring from 800 meters. had to fix it. spent the rest of the match bouncing their shells and exchanging fire.

There was a Tiger tank during WW2 that served on the Easter front, Tiger 231. In one day of battle it took 252 direct hits from Russian T34 tanks and Anti tank guns. It was totally battered, tons of parts broke but the armour remained unpenetrated. It then managed to retreat 60 miles back to base under its own power. All crew survived.
It's not the metal ringing. It's the shell spinning at very high velocity through the air. The shell loses it's aerodynamic properties after such a hit, so it starts to spin on its side, causing that sound, similar to a helicopter rotor.
You can hear the armor of the tank vibrate as well. I work in the steel industry and this happens alot when we are banging on steel structures. The steel will vibrate considerably for a good amount of time.

You laugh but shells that bounce are still very uncomfortable for the crew. There was a Tiger at Kursk which deflected dozens or even hundreds of Soviet shells, not a single one penetrated and the crew still bailed because they went deaf and couldn't stand the shock anymore.
Being inside that tank as a crew member when the armor deflects a shell makes such a insanely loud dinging sound inside the tank, that it can make you dizzy/disoriented and cause your ears to ring, and can cause temporary hearing loss.
Idk if y’all have ever watched that movie called “T-34” but, every time they get hit, it’s just an absolute nightmare inside the tank because of the shell having hit the tank and all of the noise just radiating around inside. I imagine that’s pretty much the same with this Tiger
Honestly it's why I love games like this. So many little things make up the big battle. Wonder how many things like this have gone unseen. I personally love being in a tank crew and having soldiers from other squads run up and request help so you have to pop out to actually hear them etc.

I loved the old sounds of "whirling & gasping" with rounds flying close overhead. The new sound is a lot deeper and "whooshing" and it doesn't have the same effect

The tiger crew had to have open mouth when the 88mm on the tiger fired or you would loose your eardrums.
