After Thoughts about the Video: I did a full video on this Cobra Winch Chainsaw powered winch a few years back but haven't had a use for it. They're not meant really for vehicle recovery but more for log skidding. So moving objects; like a log, distances fairly quickly. A lot quicker than an electric winch for sure. I ended up snapping my winch line on my electric winch that day so this saved my butt for real.

Your dog jumping up and eating snowflakes made my whole day
Good ole' Ginger! She needs her own channel!
Yep.
It made my day when I noticed it while watching the video back. I had no idea there was this much frolicking going on while I was preoccupied.
@3:55 she was totally after the snowflakes and not helping! Love it. 👍
Ginger said "I'll keep this snow from getting any deeper". LOL. That was awesome!
She was working harder than me
@@sixtyfiveford she's such a cool dog.
your pup is stealing the show! LOL
I was so preoccupied I had no idea she was putting on a show in front of the camera.
It's so awesome to see you enjoying your time with her. I had to put my best friend down a couple of weeks ago and the loss has been tremendous. I enjoyed every day we had with her and would give anything to have her back.
Dang! So sorry too hear. I lost my first heeler years ago and thought I would never be the same. It took years but Ginger has filled that gap in a different way. Such great companions if you spend the time with them. Take care brother.
Very painful to lose your dog. They are a true man's best friend.
Well at least ginger had a great trip to the mountain.
Ginger beeing busy hunting down smowflakes 😅
Enjoyed the video. I think Ginger could pull harder than the chainsaw winch. 😂👍
Lot of work, but Ginger had a _great_ time .. so fun to watch
The Florida pool pump motor repair guy 32750 approved ! that was good info & see have fun
Ginger was giving us a show eating snowflakes
Love that dog !
Woofs 🐾. Every time I see Ginger she reminds me of the tracking dog in the movie The Last of the Dogmen.
Every time I see Ginger I am reminded of the movie The Last of the Dogman. Great video of snow fun Sixty Five.👍
Love it
“The dog doesn’t know how to use the gas pedal yet” 😂 poor ginger 😅
Woofs 🐾
Thank goodness you brought that chainsaw winch along !
And the snow eating dog to keep it from being too wet. Good job Ginger.👍
Itah havah no powah... need more powah
You got out. 👍😊
Out, then stuck, then out then stuck again and then out ... Too much fun.
Cool that you found some snow 😂
Those heeler's never quit😂
I was shocked you could get those tracks stuck. I thought they would just float you everywhere. Love the pup catching snow. My border collie for many yrs and now my lab brings me the same joy on quad runs. well done🎉
Yeah I got a little cocky with my riding. I've been going anywhere and everywhere all winter and haven't got stuck. Apparently when it's warm outside, the snow turns to a slushie.
Dogs are great riding companions.
Should of called me could of brought my bombardier 😆
Good thing you brought the Chainsaw winch to help on thefun in the sun.👍
Next time!
4:00 Ginger catching snowflakes is worth watching, even if you weren’t stuck. Very cool.
I might have been in a better mood if I would have seen her doing this. I had no idea there was that much frolicking going on while I was preoccupied.
Need to teach the dog how to operate a chainsaw throttle.
Yes!
Creating a trigger lock - cruise control on it would be a good upgrade, no gloves needed. A simple captured pin and a drilled hole should do it.
MM77 Approved 👍🏼👍🏼………………………………………………….Well, at least Ginger had a good time and we all know THAT’S what really counts!! LOL
This was an exciting day for her
Ginger upstaged ya and stole the show, Mo! 😁👍👍
You got that right!
I wouldn’t worry about running those tracks on dry ground. I had a set on a Polaris ranger in Florida and used it for crossing flag ponds and mud holes and drove them down dirt roads and pavement and grass all the time and it never hurt them.
Use that gas premix with motor oil next time you are breaking in a 2 stroke! (Switch to synthetic after break in!)
True.
Time for a TD-025 Tubocharger on that Rhino lol! That would be a cool video.
Never work with kids or animals, they steal the show 😂
Nice video! Maybe add a remote throttle to the chainsaw and carry a few 2x4s a little wider than your front tracks are apart to put under them as it comes out. Is there any way to tighten the clutch on the chainsaw? I'm no expert, but I play one on RUclips! Been stuck like that a few times. Very frustrating and tiring!
Great job!
The biggest issue is the clutch is supposed to slip or else the engine would stall. That's fine for a second or two; but the 5-10 seconds it takes me to hop in the clutch is blazing hot and starts allowing the tension to start to release. A helper and or remote way to operate the throttle would be ideal.
Ginger will use the homemade 2-stroke gas to start a fire IF she ever gets vcold but she'll have to stop dead still for that to happen. Another use for a Homelite. Thanks and Blessings too yall!
Hello brother, I put a rear winch on my grizzly with tracks in 2010. 14 years ago I learned this lesson. Yes I got stuck on the same trail with the spring heavy snow.
I actually do have a winch that I put in the rear receiver that I normally carry. I've never needed it so I thought when I was grabbing that I decided instead to grab the chainsaw winch... Probably would have been easier with an electric winch.
🖖
Does Ginger ever slow down? 😂
Never.
It worked though
Needs a 10 foot throttle cable extension. Use a bike brakes handle and a long cable. Maybe make it quick detach for storage.
Attach a BMX brake lever to that cable and clamp the lever to a piece of 7/8" tubing!
I am not sure Id have the patience to film during all of that!
I lost patience after the second time I got stuck. It was literally 20 ft from where I got unstuck from
Wow it looked like you were in the middle of nowhere and stuck pretty good. I was thinking it was going to get pretty cold at night up there. It looked like you were well prepared well though.
You got that right!
Man, this is weird... I got this old Harbor Freight 95912 3000 pound winch. It wasn't working. Wireless remote. Remote was missing and the receiver board was fried. Figured I could wire it up for push buttons and it actually works now. I was just talking to Zippo about how this seemed like something you'd do. Like if I can do it, you could not only do it better but also make a nice video out of it. This was yesterday. Now you come out with a winch video. Anyways I figure a lot of these cheapo winches end up in the scrap heap when the remote dies, gets lost, the receiver craps out.
I thought it had a chance for a little while there
Maybe you need a remote for either the chainsaw or the side by side, or teach Ginger to work the throttle
I was thinking about working up a manual cable operated throttle control. But this was more for just fun and to see its capabilities. I don't think a single person using this style of winch to get a vehicle unstuck is necessarily the best idea.
Great video as always 👍🏻🇺🇸
Thanks 👍
you need a remote control on the chainsaw winch
Chainsaw winch is that something you rigged up I've never seen one before ? Happy you made it out I bet you had some desperate minutes there wow !
They're made commercially. This one is a "Cobra Winch" from the 80's.
Wants for a 96 c.c. power head to put on it. Why no use the electric winch mounted on the machine? Or a Chinese Stihl 088 (880), then you'll pull that little machine easily.
I do have an electric winch. Just trying this out for fun at first. Then the electric winch cable broke and this was my only option. Yes a bigger saw head for sure!
I'd rather be at home stuck on the couch
Lol that winch is a joke if it can't even pull a side by side 😅
There's a lot more weight than you think when stuck in snow. Besides the tracks having a wedge shape that pulls them deeper, the entire undercarriage is smooth and creates suction. I would need roughly 6000-8000lbs to just dead pull it through the snow. I was producing around 4-5000lbs with the chainsaw winch. Problem is the clutch starts off great but gets hot and starts to slip when I stall it for 10 seconds straight. It actually has a momentary super strong pull before you stall it out, slip the clutch, heat it up and it starts to allow slip back.
The second time I got stuck (not recorded), it pulled two 5-6" trees right out of the ground. Then I switched to the 2500 electric with a double line pull(4500lbs) and it did no better. It actually ended up snapping a brand new synthetic winch line on the electric.
This really isn't the intended purpose of the chainsaw winch though. It's more meant for skidding heavy logs up a hillside. Where it needs to pull a heavy weight for a long long time; where an electric winch would overheat.
@@sixtyfiveford my comment may have been a bit harsh but I was under the impression that the chainsaw winch would exibit more strength than it proved to have. I watch when I see a new video from you for years but I do not recall this one on the saw winch. I did think about the tracks digging into the mud and snow but still thinking it should have done something. When you explained the intended purpose of the saw winch, is when I had my ah-ha moment. I now understand that you didn't intend for it to actually work to pull the utv but rather was hopeful for fun. I appreciate the detailed response which you didn't owe to me. Look forward to seeing future inventions and innovations from you.
Maybe use lighter weight springs in that centrifugal clutch so it locks up sooner and doesn't slip as much.
Ginger was very little help
Still snowing up in the mountains where is this so-called global warming?
Ginger is smart but not smart enough to push a pedal, unfortunately.
Ginger, needs her own Channel.
Man, Ginger did not help at all!
Right! Dang dog
LOL!
Give ginger time and she will learn how to use the gas pedal.😂
That would be a riot
Love that dog !
Ginger seems totally unaffected about being stuck!
So much frolicking when I'm so frustrated.... I had no idea until I watched the video back.
Having a great ol time
