As a 75 year old man who is married to a Filipina I appreciate your show highlighting the talents of our Filipino Friends across this world. It was also funny when the palm colored girl mentioned Lumpia because my wife was in the process of making it at that exact time. Keep up the good work and the excellent videos. God Bless. PS: I also subscribed.
I’m a 37 y/o Filipino. When I was a kid, my dad (a singer/guitarist) would turn on the Karaoke and just let me sing while he is drinking beer. So there I was, grew up singing in school and even represented my University in inter-collegiate competitions during my college years, and sang in school programs. Not to brag, some of my classmates even called me Michael Bolton. 😅
@1:18 is one of the hardest song that needs years of training has just been sung while sitting down, Diana Damrau will be rolling with anger seeing her years of training is just a casual song to the filipinos. BTW: if everyone is wondering what the German song is, its The Magic Flute-Queen of the Night, and believe me that song is hard.
This is the result of Filipino karaoke culture; Filipinos start singing at a very young age, and the result is that the Philippines produces more singers than any other country in the world. You can see them participating in international singing competitions, performing in bars and nightclubs worldwide, some in Broadway shows; a number of them are singing artists in the US; and being vocalists in popular bands like Journey, among others.
The secret of Filipinos can sing because when a Filipina gets pregnant they always listen or sing so that the baby in the womb can already listen to music.
1st reel: Karl Malone is now starting to get recognition from many singing coaches, like Tara Simon. 2nd reel: You should see Lara Maigue sing an aria with her mom. That was top class performance at their home. 3rd reel: Raymond Salgado has so much soul, that even the vocal coach Cheryl Porter took notice, and they even had a session in her car. 7th reel: That was a video taken by Jelena Kopelic. She found it amusing that even restaurant crews sings. And now, Jelena is back in PH, and can now sing full Tagalog songs.
When your teacher and classmates know that you can sing and you have a good voice, they will volunteer you to sing the "National Anthem" or Opening Prayer Song /Doxology Song every Monday (or 1st Monday of the Monday) during FLAG CEREMONY at SCHOOL. It's true both in public and private schools. I used to sing the opening prayer song/doxology while my other classmate that really have a powerful voice assigned for our national anthem. Also, she is also assigned to sing a secular song if we don't have any representative to dance for an intermission number. At school, we need to choose a representative to sing or a group to dance from each classroom for the flag ceremony or for any celebration like Science Month, Math Month, English Month, etc.
I am a 33 yrs. Old Pinay with a 9 siblings and 5 of my siblings has really good voice that they are always present in school and town singing competitions. While me only sing when washing the household chores, village/ home karaoke and at school when the teacher is not around but then one day i was in 4th year high school when my teacher ask me to represent our class for the Buwan ng Wika singing competition i refused and said i am not like my siblings but she said she trust in me but on the day come i didn't show up 😅 i don't have the guts to face the crowd. I think I could prove that Filipino singing talent run on genes. I can sing and its my passion ever since. I came from a family who sings or a member of a band on my father side. Now that I have 2 daughters, my eldest won the singing contest in their school the first time she tried to join such contest. Like all the students and parents were shocked that she have a talent in singing. Now, im starting to notice it on my youngest as well which is 4 yo. Evrytime she hears a song and will listen to it for just 2 to 3 times simultaneously, shell immediately get the tune even the runs! She cannot utter all the words perfectly but her tone is on point. ❤
There are 2 family bands 1) Missioned Souls 2)Franz Rhythm These 2 family bands are headed by the fathers Father mother daughters can sing play guitar the youngest boy drummer
I remember us singing every day in Quezon City with friends and my now pamilya. My asawa, my bayaw, and me. My asawa sang to me at our reception and I sang Whatever it is by Zac Brown Band to her. Every time I said, I love you, in the song, the audience applauded. 😁
Maybe you can try checking out Chito Ricafrente's performance in GMA' s Tanghalan ng Kampeon singing contest. He amazingly played sax using his lips and mouth. Frankly, I had no idea how he did it. One of the judges in the contest is Darryl Ong.
