+juls robertson The message in this video *speaks* to me. I appreciate the lesson about people having a need to *see* the process of what their recycling can become. In summary I want to extend another dose of appreciation for companies that employ a creative process of breaking down plastic material, and transforming it into something practical that can help many people in the long run.
William Ellerbe Yes, it is a good thing......everytime time a walk past a park bench I can't help but to look for 'the plaque'. Plastic and styrofoam are 2 of the worse inventions ever. Aloha*
wow a short video but with a huge great content! i just learnt how important recycling is! i never knew you could make a bench out of old bottles! that's insane!
It can take many hundreds of bottles to make a bench, depending on the weight of the bench. With about 8 jugs used per pound, some of our benches at Polly Products in Mulliken, Michigan take up to 1200 milk jugs per bench!
That is how plastic bottles become a pair of ballet slippers for me to wear during my ballet recital I want to be a ballerina Give your garbage another life. Recycle. A presentation of the School of American Ballet, Waste Management, Keep America Beautiful and Capezio
How many bottles does it take to make a bench? I live in a community of 401 condominiums that does not recycle, although some of the residents do. I would like to see the community set up recycling bins to make it easier (particularly on the elderly who live here). We also want some new benches. I thought this might be a good way to encourage everyone here to recycle.
Thanks for your question. This was a project done by our affiliate Keep Iowa Beautiful, who would have more information regarding the specific materials used to make the bench. As the plaque indicates on the bench, it was a closed-loop effort in the community funded by partners. Most plastic lumber is made from film plastic by Trex, but there are some manufacturers that use HDPE, such as milk and detergent jugs, for plastic lumber.
I usually mute commercials.........NOT THESE ONES, they always make me teary-eyed, from 'trash to treasure' I love it!

What is the topic...
If recycled milk jugs can be remade into benches, can they be remade into other stuff too?
Yes they can . So remember to " Toss no mas " Recycle instead .
I want to make a bench but nobody would do it because I'm not part of a non-for-profit.
