Really wish she didn’t interrupt Sal as much - I get it’s a conversation, but I find I get more out of interviews when the host simply lets the guest speak, zero interruptions. Don’t feel the need to fill the silence or constantly interject - that’s not why we’re here. We’re here to hear what THEY have to say. Ask your questions, then LISTEN.
@@samanthalawrence8942haha yeah same... I'm only like 15 mins in and Sal has been able to tell like 3 full stories with no interruption... Glad to know that it will continue like that through out the video
Sal taught me how to loae weight the right way that is substantiable. I prioritize protein and strength training times 5 a week with daily 30 min walk. I added 100 calories a week from 2000 to 2800 calories a day. I build muscle and increased my metabolism then cut 500 calories to lose 1 pound a week. I feel amazing.
Favorite take away from the Him and her podcast is that you can succeed with good sleep, good diet (lots of protein) and commitment to two days a week of strength training 🥰 my name is Susan Cardillo 55 year old menopausal women trying to get in shape. Trying to look better and feel better without looking at the scale which is super hard from my generation.
I love the thought of a couple times a week in the gym and that sleep and nutrition are all needed to gain muscle and get lean. I had not heard of the mouth taping before. And I like his last statement, getting familiar with body pain. I love that Sal is so humbling and cares about people. Wish I could train with you too. I just started working out in the gym in January. I am 63 and I have gained some muscle and lost over 20 pounds. Love listening to these conversations. I am loving this so much that I am going to put a gym in my basement. I would really like a conversation “how to set up a home gym”. Thank u.
I can’t wait to give this a go. Juggling a full time job, a family, volunteer events and everything else made being in the gym for two hours impossible and now I feel like I have the time. Thank you for giving me permission to do all of the things I love and not have to make my life revolve around the gym!
Recently I have come across Sal two months or so ago and I love his RUclips!! I saw him on your channel as a guest and I just LOVE him// it was a must watch. He is so real when he talks. He gives facts and talks about real shit. I am forever going to be his follower. I actually sent this podcast to a friend because we train at one of these crazy hiit cardio / weight lifting gym and we lift 5-6 days a week. When he says on this podcast that you can lift full body two times a week and still get the same results. That just blew my mind! I lift heavy the 5-6 days a week and my body feels spent. I am going to try to do what he says and lift the 2 times a week heavy full body and then spend the other days in the gym doing the mobility and yoga etc. I have small kids too so some days I feel like I cannot give it my all ( to my kids and husband) bc my body is exhausted. I am going to try this method and report back! Thank you for being so amazing! And those biceps I agree with Lauren! 🤩 would love to try his program!
This is exactly what I needed to hear right now. I’ve recently started strength training and have been feeling a little down because although I feel good and can tell I’m getting stronger, I don’t feel like I see the change in my body or the scale.
That has happened to me! Scale is the same at 150. Guys at work think i lost 10lbs. My jeans got baggier, i can wear smaller clothes. Ive Been doing more focused heavier weights the last 2 years and i eat about 120-150 grams of protein each day
Hi Sal! I am a huge fan to you. I am 76 years old, working out twice a week in Heavy Duty style. But, i am almost dead after this workout. I think I must try your Maps15 but, I don´t know how to do it. Please Sal make a video about training and typ 2 diabetes. Very important to me hearing your advice Regards from Sweden. Stefan
Sal is awesome and so is Mind Pump! I do have to say, I'm not a fan of your set up. I could tell Sal was looking upward and kind of awkward at the start. It feels like he's on trial and you're looking down on him. Just my opinion, I'm wondering if others feel that way.
I love this podcast and the guests they bring on. It feels like a safe space. I always watch during my workouts to have on in the background and I don’t get bored of it. Currently doing a glutes/ham day. Thanks guys
I have listened to their podcast for a long time and they have completely changed the way I view working out. I started string training a year and a half ago and it's changed my body more than anything else I've ever done. I did the map starter but I would love to win the bundle as well so that I can continue my training. The biggest thing I got away from this episode is just how impactful strength training can be and how much as women we have been conditioned to think that cardio is the only answer
I enjoyed Sal’s feedback to strength training and will start listening to his podcast!! Ps he looks like Mauricio and also looks like that Italian comedian (forgetting his name!)
On the topic of changing your muscle shape- I really hope Lauryn sees this. Look into the fascia. You can look up dr berg or Ashley black. You in fact CAN change it a bit due to working the fascia! Look at it!
Sal I love you and your show . I just noticed your constantly repeating the same stories over and over AND over again . I’ve heard these stories about 3-4 times already on your podcast and other peoples podcasts.
@@rfq6566 it’s called constructive criticism. What’s bothering you ? No one can say anything nowadays . I’ve watched a every single one of his shows which means I’m a big supporter , and I’ve heard that exact same stories over and over again because of that
Ok, if I am following Lauren and mindpumpmedia, where am I supposed to be putting my comment? I'm sorry, I listened to that part several times and got a little lost. I am trying out the Starter program starting tomorrow, I have a lot of health issues, one requiring steroids, then had cancer that led to an early complete hysterectomy, was thrown into menopause, and not only did it make other health problems worse, but I'm going thru rapid bone and muscle loss. I've been given clearance to raise my steroids a bit to have the energy to build back and from my surgeon as well ( spine and neck issues and surgeries, no-one mentions that part of cancer or menopause), I've only ever done follow along workouts and I'm a litt!e terrified at this new format ( for me, paper and demo), but I am hoping it will teach me good form, mobility, and I can lift at my own speed so hopefully not stress the body too much. Dr is psyched for me to experiment with it tho. I loved the interview and have been interested in his advice on so many things including order of his programs. That's probably not supposed to be my takeaway, but it excites me and I really need to get excited about something now. Blessings!!
Can’t disagree obviously about SLEEP, DIET and EXERCISE as it relates to LONGEVITY! But I don’t hear much discussion around annual physicals especially as we get into our 50’s… COLONOSCOPY, PSA, Mammograms, etc etc! I know a # of people who we would consider “healthy” but died of colon cancer! Let’s remind people of our annual physicals.
He's bringing up the analogy of the skin adapting to sun rays often, but afaik dermatologists will tell you that UV rays are always harmful to your skin health no matter if you get sunburnt or not. So, if your skin tans it was already too much.
There is esthetics and there is health. Look at the studies that show that melanoma may NOT be caused by the sun. If you BURN you are probably damaging your skin. If you are getting sun kissed, you are naturally absorbing vit D and adapting. We do not want to burn the skin but for the sake of understanding the complexity of this topic/“damage” in moderation, what if we swap damage with creating stimulus? You “damage” muscles during workouts which stimulates them to repair and grow. Too much, and you injure yourself. When you use a derma roller, you damage the skin and this creates a stimulus that builds collagen. Too much and you scar yourself. Similar concept…when it comes to damage/stimulus, moderation is important and it will be dependent on the individual. We are not trying to create too much damage with the skin that may contribute to a negative stimulus (cancer) but a small amount that leads to adaptation. The body is a complex system and losing the forest for the trees is not beneficial, which specialized fields of study often do (sometimes to the detriment of health).
58:53 - I tried nasal only breathing today during my 30 min of 15% max incline treadmill walking (not holding on), and it was WAY harder than I was expecting. Trying to regulate your breathing with an elevated HR through your nose only takes focus and getting used to. There were swings where I was able to slow my breathing down and feel in ctrl. But then there were other moments where only using my nose was a challenge. During those periods, it felt like the speed jumped up considerably higher, and I was suddenly a lot more winded than usual. It made for a strange form of progressive overload. 😂
Strength training + Running + Intermittent fasting : All add up to make it best. Plant protein is healthier though, see GAME CHANGERS. Food is exaggerated esp by those with conflict of interest.
The way she behaves at 29:13 by yelling at her husband in front of the guest, “ask the question! Don’t say your opinion!” - simply alarming to me. Does she have any self awareness of right time right place? Very inappropriate.
This is the second video I've watched from this channel and on the other vid he told her something like "shut the fuck up, I'm trying to talk" I was stunned, but it seemed pretty normal to them...

Hail Mind Pump !
My favorite take away is starting with 1-2 days a week of strength training!
I love Mind Pump and love Sal!!! Thanks for having him on! ✨️💪

If you’re advanced I’d add a day so like 3 days the others on the other stuff.
The setting does not work? Why are the hosts looking down on the guest and he constantly need to look up? That;s just weird.
Exactly what I thought - sets a weird dynamic from the get go. Superior/inferior hierarchy….odd.

Personally I have found that going to the gym often is a really great antidepressant drug.
Why don’t you put his info in the description?
Taping your mouth while strength training seems like a bad idea, how would you brace your core properly for the lifts?

Why do people do give up on working out? Because they find it dull and no-fun. We need a process that is joyful.
It is joyful but it takes time for that joy to build.
What a weird way to sit for a podcast. They’re like up on their perch talking down to their guest like they’re lording of their peasant. 😂
Weird thing to notice
