NIce! I've been fishing Anderson off and on for nearly 50 years. Got 150 9 inchers in two days once about 30 years ago. The chinook have been a blessing. The last couple years we've had to fight for them a bit. Good to see you get a bunch. Maybe the lake is coming back around.
About 1980, my dad and I once took home our possession limit of 100 fishing Friday eve til Sunday eve. Another trip we fished all morning to land 3 fish. He fixed lunch while I cleaned fish. I got distracted by a big pike minnow under the dock, turned back to see a seagull swallowing the first fish I had cleaned.
@@spiltmilt Been limiting out on good size Kok's almost every time this year, and I owe most of that to your advice. Hope you can make it up to your northern neighbor sometime this year.
It is true, they always bite when you are eating, or on the phone. My buddy always get a bite when hes putting the other line on a downrigger. Funny how that always works out. It was great to see your enjoyment and excitement pulling in those tanks.
Thanks so much for this video. It inspires me. Im in a wheelchair now after murdering more than my share of Puget Sound salmon over the last 60 or so years and I have to ask if it wouldn't be helpful to tell people to sharpen even a new Gomogatzu hook, fresh out of the package, with a small stone before it goes in the water. The repeated lost fish on that Portside rod looked to me just like great hooks that hadn't been honed until they stuck when dragged across the back of a thumbnail. Needle sharp. It's just a thought from an old guy that loves what you're doing but sharpened hooks sure made a big difference to Possession Point Salmon from the mid-fifties until just a few years ago. Probably still do.
Hey Tyler. Here from Vancouver I stand. Once again another great video man, I envy the fact you got such pristine places for kokanee there and also the fact you have a few pedal drive kayaks. So many places here where you can kayak fish but a pedal drive, hands free? Keep the vids coming man. Cheers from Vancouver BC

The fun level rally accelerated through this video. Your consistent success is impressive. Thanks for sharing again. Just wondering about your pronunciation of Paulina, growing up in Central Oregon I fished Paul-I-Na Lake, no matter how you say it their tackle is working!
This is in my backyard. I’ve caught some smallies there. My wife caught some Kokes casting some lures from a kayak on a girls trip there was a guy out trolling and catching nothing. He was pretty aggravated. Lol
I’m heading out to Riffe lake at the end of this month and was wondering if you have any experience out there and if so, any tips you would be willing to share. I’m mostly targeting Kokanee and rainbows would probably be a by-catch
Camp or stay in nearby towns. One of the challenges of filming is I have a lot of video that needs to be backed up daily and batteries that need charging so I end up in staying in hotels more than I'd like to.
Watching right now. Not to sound like an school teacher, Paul-lie-na peak. Used to be one if the greatest lake for kokes. Was an epic battle years ago between Paulina and Wallow lakes for the Oregon state record. 9-10 LB kokes. You are fishing way back. What’s the speed for that lake? The Paulina sling blades fish fast. Had great success with them on Wickiup, before it became the sacrificial res for the spotted frog.
Sorry 4 years of living in Central and South America speaking Spanish my brain won't allow me to say Paul-lie-na because there is literally nowhere else in the world they pronounce it like that aside from central Oregon. 😂
LOL! We get it all the time. It’s how we know who’s a “local”. Thanks for the video. I wish we had some size to our kokes. Everything is 12” max now. The Macs in Odell are getting huge though.
Awesome! Maybe I'll have to take my kayak up there to Anderson ranch sometime. I noticed you are going to strawberry lake in Utah. I've gone there once but I didn't know a good spot to launch my kayak. I still have no idea where to launch. Which part of strawberry do you plan on launching at? I wanna take my old town pdl down there and launch without damaging my kayak.
I am familiar with this body of water from 1970 to now but have never fished it. I did work below the dam for Idaho Fish and Game in 1977 where there was a very popular single barb-less hook fishery. I learned to fly fish there and later worked for the same agency after finishing college. Did you fish there too?
Had a question. How does the clip in weight up your line when flatlined work verse a weight in front of the dodger ? I’m assuming it is acting as a shallow downrigger of sort? And also is that a Shasta downrigger clip you are using for your weight?
I have a jet sled and would like to leave it at home and do more out of my hobie kayak for spring chinook and Kokanee. I get tired of taking fisherman with far less experience and having to baby sit them… that’s be honest..
Sometimes I get tired of bringing bait, rods and gear for 3-4 guys and the pressure of trying to get them into salmon instead of myself..and being retired at 52 it’s not easy to find other fisherman to go during the week…
Your video inspired my wife and me to try Anderson Ranch. We’ll be there in early August. Is that a reasonable time to try for Kokanee there? If so, at what part of the lake would you recommend we start our search? We’re somewhat limited with respect to boat mobility. We’re in a 12’ aluminum boat with electric motor only.
Our trip to Anderson Ranch was great! Fishing over 3 days was relatively slow, but we caught a couple 20 inchers that made the drive from Vancouver, WA totally worth it. We also got 4 more between 16-20 inches! Our previous best was about 13”, so you can imagine our excitement to catch such large Kokanee! Thanks for your entertaining, informative and inspirational videos, giving hope to those of us without traditional boats that we, too, can catch quality Kokanee! How can I send you a couple photos?
