    Watching these videos is like a drug to me. I just finally got a 180 gallon tank setup after a 10 year absence in the hobby (kids). That tank is like a gateway drug to me wanting one of those in my yard.

    Very beautiful wetland filter.
    For me, the pondless waterfall would also look great if it starts under the flooring of that resting area, that way its also visible and may possibly be interactive when the owners are hanging out there.

    So beautiful, I'm amazed at how open it is to the neighbours, in Australia it's illegal to have unfenced water over 6" deep due to drowning issues with children.

    I Especially like the first water feature...too many beautiful aspects on the design and appearance to mention & its only one year old! And I agree, the second one does need a pond at the bottom and does need to go up that hill a little bit further to hide the origins! Great job!

    Gorgeous!! I'm fixing the ledges in the pond now, and the liner will be going back in and I'll be hooking up the skimmer and filters, I am SO excited. One year later it's taken me to go from 6 x8 to 21 x 10 x 5, doing it ALL myself. Wooohooo

    Have you ever done any ponds up in Canada for people? I ask as recently I saw Joey the king of diy marveling at one of you amazing ponds and was wondering what kind of pond options he or other people up in Canada could do in their yards if someone wanted to.

    • @GregWittstockThePondGuy
      @GregWittstockThePondGuy  5 лет назад +1

      Yes, we have several Certified Aquascape Contractors in Canada. In colder climates the pond needs to be at least 2 feet deep if you plan to keep koi. Here's more info on winter pond keeping: www.aquascapeinc.com/?s=winter

    Absolutely beautiful, you’re the guy that inspired me to build my pond, now I’m looking to expand it even more. What’s the name of the plant growing around the giant boulder in the middle???

    • @GregWittstockThePondGuy
      @GregWittstockThePondGuy  5 лет назад +2

      Creeping Jenny is on the top of the boulder and cascading down and around it. In the water in front of the boulder is aquatic mint.

    Greg can you pls tell Kemp to fill his wetland filter with plants. Cos his pond is massive and the amount of plants in his wetland filter isn’t enough in my opinion

      We install ponds as far north as Canada. As long as your pond is at least 2 feet deep and you keep a hole in the ice over winter, the koi will hibernate and should survive (other variables come into play that can affect this). Here's info on winter pond-keeping that you'll find helpful: www.aquascapeinc.com/?s=winter

      I live in Orem Utah, freeze line in the ground is 3 feet so my pond is 3 1/2 feet deep and the koi did fine over winter. checkout Greg's link and other articles for how to overwinter your pond and koi.

    Like the videos so much I am putting in my own pond in the backyard. Does anyone know of a way to put a smaller wetland filter in your pond? I love the wetland filter but the snorkel and centipede seem too big for what I am doing.

    Hi Greg love your vids, and your products and your job hihihi
    what about the wetland filters, should you put plants in them or not.
    I hear different stories about this, one says plants are really necessary to remove all waste materials, others say that the filter bed is closing up because of the roots. and that more rot occurs through the roots.
    what is your opinion?
    I want to apply a wetland for a koi pond, and it seems ideal to me to make a platform floating above the filter, but then I cannot place plants in the filter.

    Hey Greg, I'm in the process of planning a koi pond with waterfall and river. I have a question, I have room to also put in a bog filter, but I'm wondering, can I pump from the pond to the bog and then from the bog to the waterfall/river. I've looked on line for this specific question, but have been unable to find an answer. I've watched quite a few of your videos, and have enjoyed them greatly from both an entertainment and educational level. Any help with this matter would be appreciated.

    This is not a good design for a dedicated Koi pond. The bottom of that thing is going to turn into a cesspool, no matter how "clear" the water is. Do a quick Google search and you'll find all the evidence you need. Dedicated Koi ponds need a rockless bottom with a true bottom drain. Rock bottom ponds are fine for water gardens with a handful of small fish.

    • @GregWittstockThePondGuy
      @GregWittstockThePondGuy  5 лет назад +2

      We'll agree to disagree. I've been installing rock and gravel bottom koi ponds for over 25 years. Proper filtration is a must - along with avoiding the temptation to overstock the pond.
