Such a special story. Thank you Heidi for your son’s service and for your daughter’s dedication to helping people grieve as families. Dover is a very special place. I have a friend who accompanied friends to Dover when their son was brought there after being killed when Pan Am Flight 103 exploded over Lockerbie Scotland. And as a retired employee of the Navy’s Federally Funded Research & Development Center (CNA) I have a better understanding of what it’s like to have friends in a combat zone and worry about their safety.
The house that serves families waiting for loved ones to come in at Dover needs an Aqua Scape Pond where grieving families can go to find peace.
Wow who started cutting onions at the end? What a special lady and family. Your best salesman is a customer like this.
😂😂😂 cutting onions? That's hilarious.
It was a very emotional build
@@christhompson4154 It definitely got dusty in my office
That was quite unexpected. I have a son in the military and I worry about his safety. I would be devastated if I were to lose him. God bless this family and what they do for others.
I did! And garlic too! 🤣💦
Omg...I am crying. I thank God for her son's service. My son was a sergeant in U.S. Marine Corps and served 9 yrs. He did two tours in Iraq got hurt then got out. He is a government contractor now. Right now he is at Diego Garcia. My heart goes out to her and the whole family. As a mom who had a son who served my heart is breaking for her...I know her son is in the arms of Jesus. She is a wonderful lady who raised a wonderful young man who wanted to serve his country...he gave his all. God bless Greg
Heidi is the best, her love of her pond and her love of nature shines through completely. If anyone is hesitating about owning a pond, they just need to watch this video. What an amazing story,
I came for the pond, stayed for the sweet lady , shedding tears for her loss !, god bless yall thank you for the wonderful family that you raised and yalls sacrifice 🙏
I know her and she's a WONDERFUL lady! I actually met her through the loss of her son and my work at the Fisher House. I will never forget her. Her family and Jake have forever left an imprinted on my heart and life ♡ beautiful yard Heidi!!!
First, thank you, Heidi for your son's service. Secondly, I am very sorry for your loss. My heart is so touched by this story. Greg, this video started and watching I again fell in love with the thought of a pond in my backyard. The amazing woman in your video was awesome in her story-telling. Of course being human I was envious of the pond and imagined my neighborhood kids being involved with a pond in my yard. But, as the story continued, I realized there is nothing I would need in my life ( like a pond) that could replace my beautiful 13 yr. old daughter.
This is another great video and love watching them. I will continue dreaming of a pond but this video definitely put things in perspective. THANK YOU ALL FOR SHARING! It brought tears to my eye but also made me happy knowing of the strength this wonderful family has in their lives and was able to make an amazing program for others.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
virg s amen
Amen 💗🙏🏼
This is your best video ever! That lady is one special person. So I put this comment in before I got to the end and then I heard her story and cried. What a waste of a life! This whole family is special! Thanks for sharing this Greg. Next is a donation for their org.
Thank you!
Great pond. The story at the end made me choke up , real patriots who deserve our love , gratitude and respect .
We agree. We had a Pond Tour the next year and raised money for her daughters charity
I cried. A lot. God bless their family and thankful for her son's service. I love all your videos, but this one will have a special place in my heart.
Being 100% disabled Vietnam Vet myself, and I did have a Aquascape pond at my old home, this video of all your videos really got to me.
Thank you for your service
Heidi is a beautiful lady inside and out. I was privileged to meet her through church and was in her congregation for several years. Since then we have both moved- in fact I inherited her moving boxes to use in my move!-but I am beyond pleased to see her thriving!
She is!
Do you know what the origin is of her grandkids calling her "Ouma" as this is Afrikaans word for Granma. I'm from South Africa.
God bless Heidi and her family.
Beautiful water feature. Such an amazing thing her daughter is doing. Crying...
Wow that's really cool.... she is a awesome lady ......JJ...
What a precious lady 💗 really special story Greg. I hope more can donate to a very worthy cause. Our soldiers and their families deserve so much and our govt has always fallen short on help for programs and funding. God bless our soldiers and this sweet family.
We all love your Job Gregg, God Bless America!
Great job on the amazing pond for this women with an amazing attitude despite her family’s tremendous loss. You provided her with a great place to relax and reflect and you can tell she loves it! What an amazing pond!
She absolutely loves it
WOW what a story!!! God Bless our Troops!!!
Incredible. What a beautiful pond and inspiring organization. Very worthwhile cause.
We agree!
Such a fantastic, lovely teacher surely deserves this terrific pond.
After more than 2 months of pond videos this one because of the story attached is the first one that made me almost cry
I am enjoying all of them and I am envious of your job
Okay this is about my favorite pond but you've shown. I love it! It's small enough for the average homeowner like me. The rock and plant placement is fantastic!
Greg, I think that the Fisher House at Dover needs a pond for the families to enjoy while visiting there.
John Barry absolutely!!!!!! I’m a disabled Desert Storm Vet and my brother in law spent 4 tours in Afghanistan but we were one of the lucky families to get him back safely each time. This video ripped my heart out and thru the first half of this video I kept saying that there is something super special about this woman but wrote it off as her being an Iowan. My wife and I lived in the small town of Oxford Iowa, about 8 miles west of Iowa City/Coralville right off I-80, and I worked in Cedar Rapids and my wife was a Burn Nurse at The University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics and Iowa was our dream home! We had a string of bad luck when we bought an old farm house and acreage in Oxford. It’s starting to fade now but I think originally when we were buying the farm we were set to close somewhere around July 8th 1997. Our loan process went smooth with no hiccups, our other home in North Liberty sold the day we put the sign up and the sellers of the farm called and asked if we could close a week earlier because they were transferring to Wisconsin. So, we moved the closing up to June 26th, 1997 and were thrilled beyond belief to have the old Iowa farmhouse, huge Iowa red barn that could be seen from west bound I-80 before the Oxford exit. We loaded everything up, moved in right after closing and just stuck everything in the house in the middle of rooms in stacks and didn’t unpack a thing cause we wanted to paint and some other stuff first. June 28th, two days after we moved in, we were ready for paint. My wife and I went to Menards in Iowa City to get paint and some other things we needed.
We woke up that morning, the 28th, enjoying one of the most beautiful mornings God had ever given us. The sun was shining, blue skies with not a cloud to be seen for a hundred miles. The air in Iowa smells so fresh and pure, especially that time of year. I stood on the deck with a cup of coffee gazing every direction around me and looked at the beautiful corn fields on those rolling hills and thought that I finally was able to obtain my piece of heaven and finally understood what “Gods Country” truly was when folks spoke about it.
We left for Menards around 11am. A bit after 1pm my wife found me and had her paint and asked if I had everything I needed and told her I did but I needed to get a couple pieces of Sheetrock loaded but we would drive around to load it after we paid and she advised me that I might ought to wait cause it looked as tho a Storm was approaching and I looked at her as tho she had lost her mind. I said sweetheart, it will be fine, we aren’t going far plus there wasn’t a cloud in the sky for a hundred miles two hours ago. She said no, it’s looking really dark outside, I think 🤔 you should wait and while we were discussing the silliness, the Iowa City tornado 🌪 siren started blaring. Menards employees went running from all directions past us going to the front corner of the store and then over the intercom they asked all customers to proceed to the center of the store in the hardware section. My wife said he’ll no, we are going to the front corner inside the restrooms where all of the employees ran to. She said I’m not gonna sit in the hardware isle and get hit by flying hatchets and lag bolts, I’m going to get under the sink counter so as we ran up to the front and were passing the registers, the glass front doors blew completely open and were parallel to the floor hanging on by hinges at the top and stacks of paper work was hitting us as we ran past to get to the restrooms. A minute or two later we heard the worst sounds a person ever wants to hear and after about 10 minutes all was quiet and peaceful again and all we could hear was a bit of rain hitting the metal roof.
We all came out of the restrooms and hardware section. The store was a complete mess up front from the doors blowing in but the store had narrowly missed a direct hit and then panic had set in about our home. Our dream home that we had just left two hours before on the most beautiful Iowa day. Well we left and the 8 mile journey took 2 hours. We sustained major damage but the house was still standing.
We spent the next 2 years rebuilding as time and money permitted and were almost done except the electricians still had a bit more wiring to replace on second floor and attic. It still had some knob & tube wiring in place. I got home from working a 12 hour night shift on November 21st, 1998 and when I opened the door to go in, I was hit with a wall of thick black smoke. I tried going in bunt it was to thick and I fouled not have made it back out if I didn’t stop.
We started rebuilding (I will start making this quick) but I had a fall while framing and landed in the basement on a 2x4 stake, shattering my rib cage, punctured my right lung, and broke my back in 3 places and a few other small injuries. I woke up to a sheriff deputy asking me questions and I heard a helicopter 🚁 hovering above. I woke up again as the took me into the trauma unit in Iowa City.
I survived, and after 13 surgeries and years later I’m still kicking. We ended up getting the house finished but in 2002 we had to leave because of losing my income we just weren’t able to maintain everything like we did. My wife was offered a job in Greeley , Colorado at a hospital that they were trying to get a burn unit opened back up that had been shut down for years because they did not have a burn doc anymore but finally found a replacement. They doubled her salary to go, and paid our moving expenses. It was a gift from god actually but our hearts are still in Iowa. Years later and a few more moves, one to chapel hill NC so my wife could work at the Jaycee Burn Center at UNC and after 13-14 years there she has gone out to Phoenix Arizona for 6 months to run the burn unit out there and help get those folks on the right track but I’m still in NC on our small farm tying baling wire around everything till she gets back home.
I could feel a huge connection to this beautiful lady for some reason and once Greg started talking about the Fisher house I knew it was more than just being an Iowan. See, folks from the Midwest don’t give up, ever! They find the one good stick of straw in the very bottom of that huge straw pile that has rotted down around it. It may take us years to find it but it’s there and we will get to it damn it!!! This family could have given in with the loss of her son. Many families do unfortunately and there’s not enough help out there for us veterans and veteran families. But in spite of this families pain, they have pulled their bootstraps tight and got back up and is doing what they can to help other families that may not have the strength that she and I do but we aren’t gonna let them fail on our watch. I’m so proud of her and her family and I cried my eyes out for an hour now because of her loss but Greg, if you could get out to Dover and gather a team and donations to cover some sort of pond for the fisher house, and I will come help ya too, you do not realize how much that would mean to so many families that never want to visit there but don’t have the choice either.
I’m sorry I wrote : books here but I promise it’s all worth it. I left years of info out to shorten it up but it’s about the message of doing for others and never giving up!! I felt the connection to this family from the start and now I share their pain and sorrow as well but we can do good for other families because of it as well.
Get to work Greg, please sir, see what you can do for our Gold Families out here, please. And also please give me the name of an aqua scales contractor in central NC buddy, I want to install a pond this Summer at my home also.
Take care everyone, and please, help or thank a Vet today when you see them. They have already helped you more than you’ll ever know!!!!

Thank You Miss! Bless you!
Much love! Way to go.
Is a flawless and awesome pond. Other than Koi fishes, this pond also blends well with the Asian Mahseer fishes, the golden mahseer fish and also the Red mahseer fish. Can be found in Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Great story.
I love the fish cave! Every pond should have one
Second time I’ve watched this video. So many kinds of awesome. Thanks for sharing. 💙
the best episode so far
Love the fish cave!
very important to provide habitat. The fish enjoy it and it gives them a place to hide from predators or people :)
Great video ricky
Hey Greg, I hope you are doing well by GOD'S GRACE. I have watched so many videos on your channel, and i totally fell inlove with the AQUAESCAPE LIFE,but this video touched my heart, man you are doing an awesome job, Jonas from Africa Angola. I hope to live enough and become an AQUASCAPE CERTIFIED CONTRACTOR. THANKS
Great special video.

Does the biology teacher have her own youtube channel? She's such an amazing lady
@Liberal Sickos Hate America i confess i have a crush on her ok
What a great pond.
Such a shame some people don’t like having frogs & toads.
We love them too and have a lovely wildlife pond full of them !
She’s a sweetheart
Thank you, your family, and son for his ultimate sacrifice so my family and every other Americans family to live free.
man.. she's the coolest lady ever
She is the most beautiful woman in the world. I hope she outlives her fish.
You guys should do a GoFundMe. Raise the funds to build a pond for a gold star family. Would love to give to something like that. Donationa could go towards materials and then some people could donate their time. Seems like a good organization and could offer some healing.

Is she vlogging? I want to follow her. :)
Oh she’s smart smart!
Beautiful ! how big is your pond
I really want to do something like this in my front yard, maybe add an aviary against the garage, with part of the pond underneath. My hesitation, how the heck do they keep the neighborhood
cats and other animal out of the sand and pond?
Cats might drink from the pond, but they're not going to go in it.
Greg - I am trying to figure out how to size my wetland filter. The pond will be around 18,000 gal and in full sun. How do I figure the size of my wetland filter? My second question is how many GPH per 6’ of centipede can I push through and still have the wetland filter work properly? Love your videos! John H.
cool Oma!
I don't get it. I have a tiny pond I built myself. It has a biohaven floating wetland and I have a pump that goes to a flower pot bog and an aerator. I have never had an algae bloom or any trouble with it. I harvest rainwater for it. It is about 100-150 gallon pond with 2 goldfish and mosquito fish.
God bless our troops!

Toads don’t have tadpoles do they ? Tadpoles are a frog thing
Toads in Iowa do have tadpoles. Most of our ponds have toad tadpoles in them every year. Backyard ponds are very important in suburban ecosystems as they need to find a body of water to multiply each spring.
