Thank you for the video, first listens are truly some of the craziest things ever. One of my favorite first listen experiences ever was Magdelena Bay's new album Imaginal Disk. I was waiting for midnight for it to drop but it was until maybe 10 minutes right before that i was like "Wait holy shit this is really happening OMG." The minute i hit the first track i felt like i left my body and honestly wanted to cry. It was so beautiful and only got kore climatic and i was like "This is it. We've made it." And that was just the first song. Every song after hit like a brick and i was dancing in my bed by the time the final track came on. I was just happy to be alive and it really made me realize the impact album drops have on my life. Im not feeling well lately, after new years and stuff and i just feel really drained and directionless but im hoping i can find the happiness Imaginal Disk gave me in a long lasting way, ya know? Im hoping i can soon wake up with that feeling everyday
First album listens are so special. This January I stayed up late to listen to glass beach’s new album, plastic death when it released. It was a a beautiful night with snow gently falling outside. Upon the first listen I was really trying to take it in and kinda found it hard to let myself just enjoy it, I was following along to the lyrics and when it ended I feel like it didn’t click for me. Then I played it again right after and THEN it clicked. I was really feeling the songs then and even started dancing around. The album is caked in metaphors and the lyrics can be hard to understand but it definitely made me feel seen as a queer person living in the modern age. Wish I could remember listening to their first album for the first time but this one was certainly memorable.
Cool subject ! Unfortunately I can't recall any first times listening to an album and I don"t know why. Love your style and I can't believe you have only 900 subs. Have a nice day ;)
jorja smith's lost and found has a special place in my heart, for some reason it made me very emotional when i first heard it even though its not an overwhelmingly sad album
Dude your editing style has gotten so good I love it! For me a lot of first listens are very casual or non memorable because I usually don’t pick up everything fl… but! My top 5 first listens: How I’m Feeling RN - CXCX: I already mentioned it in your last video but blind buying the vinyl for this and just hearing Pink Diamond, Forever, etc was just such a crazy experience and introduction to Hyperpop lmaoo. Thank u Next - AGrande: I adored the singles from this album since 2019 and when I decided to buy the CD and play it was one of the most beautiful love albums I’ve ever heard. If you haven’t, play Needy & Ghostin please. Utopia - Travis: It was just funny bruh I woke up like 4 minutes before it dropped without knowing it was even coming out and me and my day one was just gushing about the album while listening hoping to get a Kanye feature (we didn’t 😔) Skitzo to Telekinesis was a generational run on first listen. Brat - CXCX (again): I actually recorded my reaction to this album with facecam and everything lol I was hyper asf at 5am when Club Classics, Talk Talk and Mean Girls came on lol, not to mention like the same day everyone was posting anything that was green on my timeline XD. In My Mind - Pharrell: This album’s production literally blew me away first listen and made me realise why people call Pharrell a goat producer (and underrated rapper icl) also I remember when You Can Do It Too came on and I realised how inspired Tyler the Creator was by him literally the flow sounds like something Tyler would rap and the outro instrumental literally sounds straight out of Flower Boy. Honourable Mention: Vultures 1 because I was just harassing my friend with a gif of the album cover spinning before and after it dropped and I’m doing the same for Vultures 2 😂
Thank you so much for the compliment on the editing. Been trying new stuff recently and next few videos will be a lot different from my regular editing style. Also thanks for sharing some of your cool first listens I had a blast reading them and thank you for the support, it really means a lot!
Last night i listened to Mr Morale by Kendrick Lamar for the first time and it was almost exactly like your slowdive experience, that album had me in the feels like i wasnt crying but when he was talking aboylut grief and shit i was like "hes right" as i like sit there like damn
My favourite first listen has to be Scenery by Ryo Fukui. Fully expected some electronic/experimental noise and then got clickbaited into listening to the breeziest japanese jazz album. I've been listening to jazz ever since.
