Thank you for telling the truth. I am a minority (Yi) from Western China. When I saw the news that foreign anti China media slandered the Chinese government's "genocide", I was very angry because it was a fictional and absurd news. When I lived in China a few years ago, I noticed the best vendor spots near subway exits, were all occupied by Uyghur and other minority vendors! I asked a friend why; she, a Han, told me with envy that those spots are all reserved for ethnic minorities only! in order to help them make a better living! They also have other privileges: China affirmative actions: Minorities in China have easier access to get into top universities. Also when One-Child policy was still in practice in China, minorities didn’t have to follow it ! That is why Uyghur population doubles in recent 40 years! But when China stopped the one-child policy in 2015, and allow to 3 kids in rural areas, this time everyone including minorities are included in following this rule. This is major reason why Uyghur women’s have less babies recent years, not because of Genocide! The majority Han women follow the same rule. Another reason could be, when women are able to make a living themselves, they tend to have fewer children, l ! So Uyghur’s overall birth rate dramatically as well.
Xinjiang minorities didn't have to have only one child, exempt from the One Child Policy imposed upon the Han majority living in the big cities. Rural areas followed exceptions to the principal rule, also.
Thank you Sairen for providing this information, I have a curiosity about China. I fully understand that the US media has an agenda to make the Chinese government look bad and will never report anything that undermines their feckless propaganda.

The mass killing and confiscation of Uyghur wealth people, land and properties owners, happened 192-130s, 1950-1970s and 2016-current. Talking about vendors who earns bare nothing. What a joke!

China never point finger at other even though they are way better than United States and Australia in term of Humanity. It's Shameless for mankinds to see countries that are violating Human rights constantly , use Human rights as weapons to attack others.
Unfortunately, they will never apologize because of their arrogance. As HW Bush once said, “I will never apologize for the United States of America, ever. I don’t care what the facts are.” - Vice President George H. W. Bush, Newsweek, August 15, 1988 Note, he said, "I don't care what the facts are". That apology will never happen. Whatever the Western Countries do, they are above the law. Even with hundreds and hundreds of native Indian children buried around Canada, any justice? Any accountability? Only just a few mention in press and then silence. No constant media coverage on such horrific human rights violation. No reparation to the Indians.

It is concerning that nobody it seems, in the West or in mainstream media, is talking about what Professor Hammond is explaining about the realities in Xinjiang from the perspectives of the people who know about the country and who have lived and traveled to these remote ethnic regions of China. My friends will blurt out comments like, "aren't you concerned about genocide in Xinjiang?" But if you dig down deeper about what they know, I'm completely astonished how uninformed they are of the history, culture, and geography of Xinjiang or Tibet; and how utterly misinformed they are about the political situation there.
Hey this is the problems across the world unfortunately, 99% of the world population don’t or lazy to do their own research and study and wholly depend on what media tell them🤣🤣🤣
remember this campaign has gone on for 4-5 decades . Where do people get their news?
The same people that fell for the Iraq WMD narrative have fallen for every other false narrative peddled by the US' global media propaganda machine. Keep in mind that 81% of Americans believed in the Iraq WMD narrative back in 2003. That is a lot of useful idiots being indoctrinated by the media.
I don't expect that to change any time soon. Fortunately, it appears that the West is gradually fading into irrelevance, so there is hope for a more peaceful future regardless.
P.S. I am a Western person myself. I have come to view our braindead warmongering ways with deep disgust.
@@thechloromancer3310 The mainstream media narrative on Syrian government attacking its citizens using bio-chemical weapons had been debunked too. So did the narrative on the once richest African country - Libyan government mass killings of over a hundred thousands of its citizens. That's not all, the list goes on... Such narratives are used to demonize these countries in order to justify the attacks on these countries. Over the last few years they have targeted China... I hope it won't end in hot wars.
@@thechloromancer3310 I completely agree with you, after researching Canadian history, I'm becoming pretty disgusted with the stupid, vile, evil things our government has done, some at the behest of America, but some on our own as well.
China genocide in Xinjiang resulted in increase of Muslim population there, especially the Uighur. The native people in North America had almost disappeared today. You are hero of this generation. This is something really new thing which is good coming up to the world
thank you for telling the truth about xinjiang
Thank you Dr. Hammond for the historical perspective on China. I know I'm just an American who lived in the Middle East for several years, but for 5 years I lived with my fiancé in Bahrain. I was deeply involved in the Chinese community. I have found that most of the propaganda coming out of the US Government is mainly a pack of lies. I was lucky as well to have studied Chinese History and Politics while I was getting my degrees in Economics and International Affairs from TCU. You have a very rational way of explaining what is going on in China in XaiJaing .
There are expats who are vlogging about their travels.
And even @Alex from Xinjiang on RUclips too
Thank you for telling the truth .
Thanks for sharing your knowledge professor Hammond!!
When I lived in China a few years ago, I noticed the best vendor spots near subway exits, were all occupied by Uyghur and other minority vendors! I asked a friend why; she, a Han, told me with envy that those spots are all reserved for ethnic minorities only! in order to help them make a better living! They also have other privileges:
China affirmative actions: Minorities in China have easier access to get into top universities.
Errata: Principle, not principal!
Thank you Sairen for providing this information, I have a curiosity about China. I fully understand that the US media has an agenda to make the Chinese government look bad and will never report anything that undermines their feckless propaganda.
@@jossdionne9810 Minorities now need to follow family planning, which is why there is a sudden drop on their birth rate.
Just rubbish! Uyghurs have been robbed by each level of Chinese government for 100 years, now. This is third mass killing and robbing of elites.
The mass killing and confiscation of Uyghur wealth people, land and properties owners, happened 192-130s, 1950-1970s and 2016-current. Talking about vendors who earns bare nothing. What a joke!
Australia and America should apologize in an official press conference for their baseless accusations.
They should see themselves in the mirrors to know they have no stand talking about Humanity. China never point finger at other even though they are way better than United States and Australia in term of Humanity.
It's Shameless for mankinds to see countries that are violating Human rights constantly , use Human rights as weapons to attack others.
Hi Lisa E. very well said. I can not agree with you more.
Can't agree more but I am pessimistic and believe we will see more evils coming from USA and some Western countries to preserve their dominance.
Unfortunately, they will never apologize because of their arrogance. As HW Bush once said,
“I will never apologize for the United States of America, ever. I don’t care what the facts are.” - Vice President George H. W. Bush, Newsweek, August 15, 1988
Note, he said, "I don't care what the facts are". Even if USA is in the wrong, there will be no apology. This is their arrogance. Reminds one if some American religionists, "I know what I believe. I don't care what the facts are".
The same way they used Christianity to colonize the world and invade..
Thanks for a brief history of China regarding its territories.
I have some news, Tibet has just built a train line connecting the inland areas, it finally has a fast transportation line, the economic development of Tibet will be better and better.

China continues to improve, under the radar.
Please please come to Australia and see if you can educate Morrison and the LNP !!!
For Morrison and his allies, whether the genocide is true or not is not important at all. He might even know that there's no such thing. It's all about whether these politicians have any virtuous bottom-line. If all they care about is thier polotical stability, they will find all ways to twist and turn, with eyes wide open!
For Morrison, only the words coming out from US government is the truth....

It is 2020, and many so-called scholars are still discussing the human rights issue in Xinjiang. It is worth taking a look to see whether Xinjiang is safer or more dangerous than before. If you have personally experienced the riots in Xinjiang, you will never make wild remarks about the so-called human rights freedom. Those terrorists talked to you about human rights? To commit genocide is a serious crime. To make an accusation like this towards another country is even a more serious crime If the accusation it's a lie.

Hi Professor,
Excellent points. Thank you very much for telling the truth about ethnic policies and reality in China. Mike Pompeo and Josh Rogin of Washington Post should listen to your lecture.
Thanks for telling the truth about China ...
simple and rational.
The west will have more ground if they are saying about genociding the Hans instead of the Uyghur... Hans population are declining with one child policy...
When the going gets tough, the Western MSM will get shamelessly creative on alternative "facts".
Ethnic Europeans, mainly in the W Europe are also declining in most of their own countries. I suppose that could be argued as genocide since that too is a result of policy.
MF G: Han people have NOT ruled China for almost two thousand years. China is ruled by minority groups. Mao, Deng, Hu and Xi were/are not Hans.
@Nova Flares I wonder why just in past 3 years? PRC was formed 70 years ago, and Xinjiang has always been part of PRC in those 70 years.
@@elliekwong3180 Learned your history again. Han dynasty has ruled over 400 years. Only after Jin, there was 270 years, North China was partially ruled by minorities. Then Tang, Song, Ming dynasty were Han Chinese.
