Particularly interesting (at 26 minutes) is the "lost opportunity" to do great things during divided government as Reagan (with Tip O'Neil) and Clinton (with a Republican Congress) did with divided government for social security, tax and welfare reform, and several years of balanced budgets.

Like him or love him, Mitch is a bulwark against Liberal nonsense. The system works!

26:17 "Divided government is the perfect time to do big things" is the foundation of the senate leadership philosophy paving the way for divisive Trump presidency and foreign interference. We can disagree but stay united, but if we stay divided, we fall. His scapegoating democrats for Bork failure was his beginning of this very plot.

You know, if Sen. McConnell wouldn't be so partisan, I think I would like him. I totally agree about America being the "land of opportunities, and not just one opportunity but two, three...." Why does he have to be so partisan and just plain rude about the president? Of course the president believes that exact same thing and would never do anything to mitigate opportunity (in fact it could be argued he'd even do more). I know, he wants to be Majority Leader, but c'mon.

Repeal major parts of Obama Care is still an effective strategy Mitch is pursuing to this day over seven years later as Senate Majority Leader to great effectiveness and this is only the beginning of what is possible. Love to watch what leaders at the time were seeing as currently evolving history. Mitch made possible Trump's first Supreme Court appointment and another to follow in short order. Mitch gets yelled at a lot from both parties, but he's a master strategist who has the rare ability to think and act in the now for long term goals. These interviews are time capsules of not only thought, but personality.

Totally understandable with Obama's aims as stateded...but President Trump has proven good things can be achieved for the forgotten Americans...please assist this man and negotiate issues of question.

Mitch gave Trump his first two Supreme Court appointments more than any other single man. Mitch also made possible Trump's tax reform which has boosted prosperity beyond even Trump's initial expectations. Mitch has stated with Trump in the White House, this is the best time to be a Republican in his lifetime. Mitch is much understood. What I wish more people knew is Mitch is the most unsung hero making what Trump wants to accomplished possible in a now even more divided government than when Trump first came to office here three years later.
