      Zappe had one bad half against the Bears where they tipped his passes a bunch of times. People wrote him off after one bad half, it’s crazy.

      It's because they only look at physical ability. Bailey has a better mental game but Mac can throw 5 yards further, run .1 second faster and 2 inches taller. I think it's stupid to always look at physical ability and put that over mental ability. Mental ability is more important for QBs, so I don't get why people overlook it. Aaron Rodgers said it himself.

    The 2022 QB class was called the worst QB class in memory andyet I saw some promising play from Pickett, Zappe and obviously Purdy who all started multiple games and looked pretty good for rookies.
    Ridder and Howell are also interesting cases

    Everyone is still struggling to analyze New England’s QBs not named… what was his name? Tim? Jim? #12. That guy. He was actually pretty good.
    Jackson: you’re at your best when you’re breaking down film. I’ve been watching all your content and really appreciate the off-season uploads. THIS kind of video is what convinced me early on that you have what it takes to be successful on the ‘Tubes. Great vid, excellent analysis.

    So Zappe is the case of "rookie play 1 good game, therefore rookie is savior." He made some good throws, but it's not enough to say he should start over Mac (when healthy).
    First, balls getting batted at the line can be the QBs fault. You have to throw past them on a regular basis. You have to find the lanes, throw over them, or get out side the pocket and throw. Hence why QBs are usually 6'3" or taller.
    Second, Fat Patricia never opened up the playbook to let them play QB. He also called straight-up bologna plays that made little sense. And oddly enough, one of the few times they let the QB go to town was the game against CLE. They actually set up play-action to take shots down the field and let Zappe be a baller.
    No, I dont think Zappe is better than Mac. BoB should turn the offense around and actually be productive this year. I think we'll see Mac in a different light when a competent guy is calling the plays and coaching legit techniques

      Very good insight the only games I was pleasantly surprised with the playcalling was Cleveland I was actually happy after that game and Minnesota which I was actually at that game. Mac balled but we had offense playcalling and ST issues that cost the year I’m not worried and I’m glad zappe is a younger Brian hoyer ish

    Zappe was playing with house money… Nothing to lose but everything to gain. That is why he could push some of those 50/50 balls more.
    Mac was the inverse where every decision and throw was under a microscope. That is why he tended to be more conservative with his reads.
    It was a strange season. I think by the end of this year we’ll know what the Patriots have with Jones.

    ZAPPE had better command of the offense yes he made some mistakes what would u expect he’s a rookie he handled what he was called in for and won games and threw TDs give him a break sheesh his confidence will be up next time he gets a chance bet that

  • @ositocuddles25
    @ositocuddles25 10 месяцев назад +2

    Yes, getting multiple balls batted down was his fault. The guy is listed at 6'1. But we all know that he is much shorter and smaller than that. I say he's more like 5'10 or 11 at best. This dude is a quality backup at best. If Mac flounders again this season, then the Pats are toast for the forseable future. God help us all 🙏

      @Kittonwy 10 месяцев назад +3

      Zappe is short and lacks arm strength even when compared to McCorkle. He couldn't throw over the line at all, lacks accuracy deep, MattyP gave him six blockers and play action to try to make him look good but the reality is Zappe is not anywhere near as good as he thinks he is, he's basically nick mullens.

      @@mitchellmahurin3465We have 100 million next year, but what franchise QB is going to come available? With our defense there's pretty much no shot we're in a position to draft Kaleb Williams, so for the next 2 seasons our hopes probably ride on Mac Jones

    @michaelcorcoran8768 10 месяцев назад

    Honestly, It was a small sample size but the team played a little bit better under him than they did with Mac last year. It's hard to judge because Patricia....
    The Patriots fan base is pretty split. You have like maybe 15 or 20% that are militantly anti-mac. Maybe 10% or 15% that openly are rooting zappe.
    And then everyone else is sort of in the middle were they lean towards Mac but aren't particularly confident or passionate in either direction.

    • @rebel8215
      @rebel8215 10 месяцев назад

      The team playing better under Zappe has nothing to do with Zappe. Mac's 4 games after returning from his injury, he played better than Zappe against better defenses and with a far worse run game. Zappe only looked good because his backs were running the ball well and Patricia was actually calling play action.

    I think zappe is overrated as hell in New England, he's a good backup, he's not better than Mac Jones, and certainly doesn't deserve the starting spot
