I have been in the trucking industry for 38 yrs, we have seen a rise in this kind of stuff. I am not sure how a culture can take over an industry and keep having issues such as this. You see it all the time, trucks off in the bush, hung up on curbs in parking lots, driving with a dump box up, passing on curves, urine bottles on the road side. I knew an Enforcement Officer who had a truck pulled into his station. There were more people in the truck than seatbelts, and no one had an Canadian drivers license or a CDL. One guy had an international driver's license, he had never seen one before. He called his supervisor and was told to just turn them loose, leave them alone. How is this even possible?

Hard to believe but last year while driving my peterbilt gravel truck, albeit was -30, but while driving down the road and the pto off, the box started lifting. Being it was dark, it took me awhile to notice. And although it wasn’t lifted all the way up, it definitely freaked me out. The truck was of course an automatic but I was shocked that it had come up. I do understand that a pto can start to stick but at least it will save you this. Yes you need to climb out of your crib before you can dump your load but it will save you a hassle and a half.
I wonder if it was the same stupid driver who left the box up a little while back in Mississauga and had it jammed under an overpass closing the highway.
I notice half the time someone hits a bridge with a dump box some dumb four wheeler following behind it also oblivious to the raised box piles into it when it comes to an immediate halt 😃
We need to know how all those truck drivers from Brampton are getting their license. This needs to be investigated. This is not the first time it's a driver from Brampton
People from Brampton go to Owen Sound to get their driver's license all the time. I seen Indian girl at license center with two licences with different addresses they took one from her told her it was illegal.
Forget to shut off your PTO (power take off...for running the hydraulic pump) and throw your jacket over the control levers...find an overpass. That's always the case.... driving down the road with the hydraulics still running. All it takes is for a bump of the control lever or a little bit of pressure on a lever, for it to slowly raise while you're driving. That's why most systems incorporate a light on the dashboard as well as a parking brake lockout, where the system will not engage unless the parking brake is set on.
The fact that they hit that, knocked it down blocking ALL lanes and eventually drove off is unreal. Zero accountability and it's a constant problem you see now. Nobody wants to face the music, it's instantly run away when you fuck up. Just garbage people.
Welcome to Canada. Here is your commercial driver licence, here is a list of companies that have trucks with automatic transmissions. Go ahead and drive in the passing lane, just ignore the sign with the 6.5 written on it. All of those mirrors on the truck are not used for looking what's behind or beside you, they help with the aerodynamics for fuel savings. Have a nice day
It's a real concern only because so many cars have been slowed down. Meanwhile we don't know what happened to the driver who killed school kid, Duncan Xu, the SUV driver who killed the two kids at Burnhamthorpe and East Mall, the driver who killed the 70 year old woman at Dundas and Spadina or the truck driver who knocked down a light pole injuring a pedestrian at Yonge and Hillsdale. But it took four days for the police to finally decide to charge the pickup driver for making an illegal right turn killing a cyclist at Yonge and St. Clair.
Get the driver to pay for the time lost and gasoline wasted to all the people who ended up being stuck on 401 and the repair bill of the sign. Trudeau may want to slip in an environmental fee as well. This is a perfect example of 1 person born out of 1000 with purpose to inconvenient the other 999.

No, but there is a giant box suspended above your head which is clearly visible in your mirrors. Guy must have been highway driving with PTO on and accidentally flipped the dumping lever.
I think too many people are getting their licenses WAAAAY too easily! Here's a PERFECT EXAMPLE : There's a highway in my city that connects to many side streets on both sides but it runs as a stretch from one side of the city all the way to the outskirts/country side, from the North side to the very East side. Like most highways that are 70 KM or higher, it has merge lanes so (for example), if you're turning right onto the highway from one of the side streets, you take the turn off lane and you then have a nice long stretch of a lane simply there to give you plenty of time and space to merge onto the highway's main lane..... *I CAN'T EVEN KEEP TRACK OF HOW MANY TIMES* I've seen people stopped at the VERY beginning part of that merge lane, instead of just driving down it and switching lanes like you're SUPPOSED to do, like it was designed for. When I went to get my permanent license, I almost failed the test because I didn't drive down it long enough according to the tester, but he gave me a second chance and he approved of my second attempt. So that indicates to me, if what I'm witnessing happen ALL the time is completely unacceptable (as it should be), then HOW are these people passing THEIR driving tests?!? They're literally backing up traffic down that side street they're turning off of. These people not only are not qualified skill wise to drive, they are ALMOST ALWAYS unconfident in their own driving skills. How are you passing a driving test when you drive like you're scared all the time???? Something fishy is going on, there's NOOOO way so many of these new drivers should be getting their license!

They don't even give rapists 5 years so I think hitting a sign is not really worth that. If he stayed after hitting the sign and took what was coming to him he would possibly still have a driving career, but he ran away from his mistakes and now will never drive truck again
Stupid truck driving error ,no doubt about that. But why does OPP constable Kerry Scmidt need to mention that the eastbound lanes are slow because the drivers are slowing down to take a look ? This is a very common refrain in nearly all radio and TV traffic reports and it is really nonsensical . Of course they are slowing down , it is a natural outcome descending from the moment of the truck ramming the sign when the first few drivers seeing it were shocked and had to slow down even in the eastbound lanes lest somehow a vehicle or debris came flying at them . After that the slowdown was a self propagating stationary wave involving every driver , whether or not they wished to slow down . If the good constable in his service on Heavy Rescue 401 advises drivers to be cautious and to slow down it is not logical that in this instance he apparently wants drivers to speed up . In due time they will. Drivers are not slowing down to "have a look " , they are slowing down to avoid plowing into the rear of the vehicles in front of them , and going slow is a good reason to look sideways at the spectacle .

Aren’t these the same re-tds that went on strike back in 2019 complaining about high insurance rates? Sweet Jeebuz.
😳
Childish threat by the opp , just do your jobs…
What a stupid guy, he could have killed someone by not staying and telling the cops to close the road to bring the dign down.. what the signs came down into a car killing someone. He should have stayed, he panicked that's all. People are under so much stress, if he stayed no charges would have been laid but he thought it br OK.. he thought no body would have known . Poor guy his in trouble for leaving, if this companies paid people decent money no body would be stressed. But look at all the pressure people have with high rents and food prizes through the roof.
He still would be charged if he stayed
Probably got his license from his friends.
NO EXCUSES as someone could have been KILLED.
Lol
Trucking industry is being destroyed by U people
Blah blah blah blah blah
This is a criminal offence if that sign had killed any member of my family i will go after the driver, and the person or persons that have given a AZ license. And to boot he took off the accident.COWARD.
