I cannot download Chrome. Says Web page not available. Net::ERR_SSL_PROTCOL_ERROR

Where exactly are you getting to? Are you able to set up and open Google DOT com to be able to start your search for the Chrome download page?

@@peteredmunds1301 Ok, so it looks like you're getting to the Google search page and it's the "Downlod" link for Chrome on UptoDown that's giving the error? If it is that point you're getting to, maybe try a different google search phrase like "download chrome apkpure"

I'd also recommend you join our 2 Facebook groups (the second is a subgroup that is dedicated 100% to the Sideload Channel Launcher 2 with tons of info, tips, HowTos etc plus resources) - links in the vid description.

Followed the video step by step, when it comes down to download Chrome or file linked, the second I hit download I'm bounced out of the app, and end up on the homescreen.. Everytime.. Any advice?
Hi Andy, I had an interesting experience trying to recreate what happened to you…. Lengthy but this might have happened in your case (kind of)
I created the URL tile and got to the download page, same as you, and on clicking the link - EXACTLY the same as you - I then tried to go to the Shield’s download folder (using x-plore) to see if by any chance it had downloaded there - and this is where it was strange…. I couldn’t even find my Shield’s storage!
As I had just been doing some major cleaning I had unplugged everything (including my SSD which is used as my Shield’s internal storage). Turns out the SSD storage plug wasn’t firmly seated. A quick reboot and everything was back to normal…
Went back to do the Chrome download and this time - no problem, download started saw the downloading message and thebar going across the bottom of the screen.
Once completed, I checked in the shield’s download folder and sure enough the Chrome apk was there ready to be installed….
So, after all that, the question is, is your storage showing up OK? Do you have your inetranl storage set to an ssd or thumb drive that’s maybe not connected properly?

@@WOTBoxTV thanks for taking the time to reply, I have the new round cylinder shield, just upgraded from a firestick, so I'm new to nvidia, obviously it has no usb ports, so was using a 256 micro sd card, which had malfunctioned this morning, so I removed it, before I tried to install the Chrome browser. I shall try again tomorrow, when I have lots of time 👍👍
@@andyb617 I'd wager the error is related to that dodgy sd card.... good luck, let me know how you get on...

I followed all the instructions and made it all the way to downloading chrome but then it closes out when I hit the download button. Takes me back to the Nvidia home screen. Any help would be great and I tried joining the FB group but it asked some questions I wasn't able to answer. Any help here would be great. Thanks.
Sorry to hear you weren’t able to join the FB group, so let’s see if these steps might help….
Ok, first thing to check is in the downloads folder to see if it actually got downloaded (even though you got dropped out of the app. I had something similar when (trying to download a different apk) happen in one of my tests and found it had been downloaded.
If nothing there, then try to search for “apkpure chrome download” in the basic SCL2 browser app, you should be able to download from there (as an alternative source).
Let me know if you’re successful.

Do you have an external drive, ssd, SD card that has been disconnected?, the issue is almost certainly there - a couple of others had a similar, if not the same, problem as you.

Good question. My understanding of this point is that Nvidia, to comply with Google certification regs, have been required to remove the ability to set 3rd party launchers as default. This limitation was has been implemented in the recent 8.0.2 update on the 2015 + 2017 models and will be the same on the 2019 models with the soon to come out 8.1.1. Having been using the hotfixes that were released for both modedls between 8.0.1 and 8.0.2 (and 8.1.0 and 8.1.1) respectively, we had 10 weeks jump on this and have a couple of workarounds already working (admittedly more of a patch) - For the Sideload Channel Launcher, watch this: ruclips.net/video/F1vZ13p7ZVo/видео.html . Unfortunately your WOT TIME icons showed up and I could not see or find the little man with gears. Clicked everything and never saw the Close Admin Mode. If you spoke slower it would help. Frustrated.
Sorry if I go too fast.I try to keep an even pace. If I go slower, I get accused of being slow and boring.
My tip: use the pause button, or rewind a bit... The Close Admin Mode option is the first in the menu that open when you click the Icon (of the person with a gear sign next to him/her) at the bottom of the screen. Hope this helps.
@@WOTBoxTV I quit after almost an hour with the pause feature, second by second. I gave up and don't know how to continue as I can't get 'close admin' window now. Thanks for the quick response.

Hey Brian, the layouts, or profiles, are all made in the Sideload Channel Launcher 2 launcher which has one click profile changer something like in Netflix or Disney+..... we have two Facebook groups one of which is dedicated 100% to this launcher.The profiles, or layouts, used in this video were all custom made and can be accessible in the group. Basically we'll teach you how to produce your own layouts and once you produce a few basic ones, you'll qualify for free access to all the material shared by the members of the group.... WOT Time no, it doesn’t work. I’m on Android TVOS version 8.0.2. I tried it 5 times! It doesn’t work. It might have worked when you did it several weeks ago, it it’s not now. And until nvdia fixes it, I’m switching to a Firestick 4K.
WOT Time besides, that was over a month ago. Update your nvdia shield, show the version number, delete all of the stuff you downloaded, and reinstall them. I want to see that video!
Nick Williams it worked great for you yesterday? I didn’t forget any steps. What firmware version are you on? That might have a lot to do with it.
Is there a way to get the upto date vudu app on to Nvidia shield in the UK?
I tagged a couple of people over on Facebook to see if they have a source - hopefully one of them will come up with a solution for you
Very well explained and followed to a tee but every time I click download chrome or filelinked the browser kicks me out to shield home screen any ideas

Alternatively, for the FL app type in this URL (replacing the "DOT"s with a . ) getDOTfilelinkedDOTcom - You won't be taken to a website, BUT you will find it is downloaded to your downloads folder on the shield....

WOT Time tried all you suggested as soon as I click on download on any of them instantly kicked out very strange
Sorted what it was it was trying to download to external hard drive that was not installed cheers
