I think the single player of Goldeneye is still beter than Perfect Dark's single player. The multiplayer however is no contest, Perfect Dark's multiplayer is far superior to that from Goldeneye. That doesn't mean i think PD single player is bad though, far from it.
@@AlienGenotype Gotta disagree with that, I think the singleplayer stepped it up over Goldeneye in every sense, and the only argument one could make is simply liking the Bond license more than Perfect Dark, which is totally fine, but Perfect Dark improved everything from graphics, to level design, to gameplay complexity. I can't think of a single thing that Goldeneye does better as a game apart from being a brand that most people are more fond of. I'll still replay Goldeneye any day of the week and love it for what it did for my childhood, but if we're being objective and comparing the two games side-by-side, it's no contest. Hell, Perfect Dark was built on the lessons learned *from* Goldeneye, both what was good and what they thought could be improved on.

I remember first playing Perfect Dark in 2001 on a cousin's N64. Even though it only had the standard jumper pak, it was fun. Eventually, I got to play it with the Expansion Pak, and I soon began to devour the game's content. When I got my own N64, I was exploring all the levels over and over with different cheats and strategies, different Combat Simulator setups and the like, discovering things that no one had discovered. Even today, this game not only still holds up, but it totally beats the crap outta modern games. Only the GTA games have come close.

2:07:18 wait, you can do that? Damn. I've read on more than one tutorial / walkthrough to just restart this level if you wanted the Double Phoenix and this wasn't selected as one of the pillars to put the Target Amplifier on.
Its actually sad that fans can do a better job of modernizing this game sure the PC has some issues here and there that are guaranteed to be fixed yet the Switch release is just horrible and won't ever have an update. Us fans care about these games we make no profit we just want to bring these games into the modern world but the other publishers want money and give us crappy broken versions. Absolutely shocking!!
@007spudmanSpudsArmy It’s only for 1 reason how much more money the stockholders make by being cheap asses that’s why we end up with what we do. These companies never want to put money back into the company if they don’t have too.
Nintendo's emulation seems much better with their 8-bit and 16- era stuff, but they're still kinda working out the kinks with 64 bit stuff enmass (embarassing when the emulator cottage industry can outdo a multi-billion dollar multinational).
It's really pushing the limits of the N64.. I played this game a ton back in the days.. and also the co-op with my cousin.. Framrate in co-op was not the best but still so much fun 🥳🥳
This game has been uncomplicated for almost a year and surpasses NSO's version in quality, it's incredible how the fans do a much better job than a billion-dollar company. Graslu00, there is some work related to implementing textures from the XBLA version for this port and new mods?

Never played it until the Switch release. It was one of those N64s that I really want, but never got it. After completing the game, I can say that GoldenEye is better than PD. For me, at the Area 51 level, the game starts to decrease in quality, after a very good start, where I can feel like a new GoldenEye game. Also, the mission objectives and the way to accomplish them are very similar. The music is also the same (and it is good). But the overall feeling is not as good as GoldenEye. Not even close. But... Maybe I'll try playing it on PC with KB+Mouse, where both games would have shined even more if they could have done it.
The Switch version is a disgrace for both GE/PD, definitely recommend playing it on PC instead. It has too many issues otherwise. Although yes there's a general agreement that PD starts falling off when aliens appear but that depends on the player. I personally like all levels.
@@Graslu00 Yup, sorry used the wrong word. It is a decompilation project for the PC that allowed the game to be ported (correct me if i'm wrong). It's allowed since it's not using any of PD's original source code and is all original code. Great vids btw, it's a shame the NSO emulated versions of PD and Goldeneye ended up the way they did.
