@@CerealKillerPT Jason joined Metallica in '86, during the Master of Puppets tour right after Cliff's death. He was there for the whole writing recording process. Also, how could the album be written without him if quite a few things were written BY him? You're probably thinking of Rob, who joined them after St.Anger was already done.
I've been playing bass for about 15 years or so and one thing that blew me away was after playing just the bass for so long my nephew talked me into getting a classical guitar. The strings are super easy to play on and the nylon won't cut into your fingers like a steel string will so you can play them longer and also the fret board is about the same width almost as a 4 string. Playing on my classical I could better come up with new riffs and solos. SO I would take what I did on the classical and apply it to my bass and it actually really helped out. You could try going that route. My La Patie' Etude was like $300 and came with a case, though you can expect to pay about that at a music store.
If Jason played what I think he played, then Dyer's Eve is the hardest Metallica tune on bass. It's so fast that I rate it harder than the guitaristic bass solo in Orion and Battery but I'm not including Anaesthesia (Pulling Teeth)
Thats the point, your precision is not human. Usually i play with pick myself and dont like fingerstyle that much due to some different „aggression“ in its sound, but your fingers man....wow. I really LOVE your sound
For anyone wondering how to get this tone, a really large part of it is new strings (roundwounds, preferably steel). They have a lot of twang (if that's a word) and have a metallic sound. Besides that, I would probably boost the mids/treble, and cut the bass a bit so it doesn't muddy up the mix. I've also heard that people can get an aggressive tone like this with a Sansamp DI.
Jason said that he played a Steinberger headless bass on the "Justice" sessions, so this Alembic is actually a good soundalike since they both have that metallic piano like quality to their sound.
Attitude, precision, and tone. Way to rock it. I hope the AJFA Remastered brings Jason's genius to light - consensus is that he absolutely nailed it in the studio. Much respect to Cliff&Rob too.
This is like hearing the song again for the first time. The "Justice for Jason" remaster was an improvement, but this is the first time I've heard the bass pushed out front so clearly. Totally changes the song. Love the channel dude. Yours are the only bass covers I bother watching.
@@forbiddenyasuo6386 To metalheads. I am saying that hits are songs that had videos and/or were played on the radio when the song comes out. 'One' was the only hit off the album.
I was thinking of starting bass. I couldn't do this though, as I would fall asleep listening to AJFA, haha. It's really nice to hear you play in sync over the recording. Kudos!
This is the 4th video I've watched from Kello and this guy never ceases to amaze me with his awesome sounding bass skills. He reminds me of a young version Ian Hill from Judas Priest.
God bless you.. I was going to listen the entire album.. I'd started with the one and dammit I was very very disappointed About the lack of bass frequencies, really annoying..so I went on RUclips and found this wonderful and satisfying cover.. Thanks man!
Kello ... did a damn good job on this one and still watching others you did on Metallica ... just wondering are you going to cover any of the garage inc album ... favorite song off of there is the wait and sabbra carbba ( Black Sabbath ) which is also on garage inc album .. Keep rockin Metal
If they had just mixed the bass right, AJFA seriously could have been the GOAT metal album. So sad. We can only hope that one day they remaster it and turn the bass up. Great cover!
Jeremy Ladue Lars intentionally had the bass tracks lowered to "get a good drum sound", but really I think it was just to have a jab at Jason who he viewed as "the new guy".
I think the lowered bass kind of symbolizes that they miss cliff and in his memory , made it look like the next album was bassless i.e. Without any bass because no Cliff
Isn't it great when you can use the studio version of this song as backing track?
I see what you did there
Sad but true... I really hate Metallica for making bass EXTRA QUIET in Justice. Jason made a great work though
@@markkornivskyi4101 it was the "Angry Midget Drummer" aka "I want people to think I'm Billy Joel "..
@@pensnut08 Jason got back at Lars by replacing his snare with a metal folding chair on Death Magdrumtone !!!!!!
@@markkornivskyi4101 Metallica as a whole didn't quiet the bass... that was all Lars. He insisted that it be barely noticeable on the album..
The greatest guitar riff ever written by a bass player.

Anesthesia Pulling Teeth - Cliff Burton solo will always be greater!

Jason ❤
I have to admit, I half expected you to just stay there and play nothing.

*Justice for Jason*
Blackened has a very audible bass line. But I get it ;)

@@arthurfranklin9315 ruclips.net/video/NqbNELz0bG4/видео.html
Yep, that's about right. I'm a fingerstyle guy influenced more by Cliff but I always aim to play thrash as tight and fast as Dyer's Eve.
You played it wrong I can hear the bass
Okay your joke sucks, because there is a soft bass in ajfa and if you cant hear the bass then its your problem
