    i like how all the redcoats are good, except their leader who forces them to be "evil" and gets them sloughtered mercilessly.

    I'm thinking that the religious intolerance of the Indian Wahabist Moslems and from the Victorian Church leadership in India ( undergoing a revival at the time) caused the situation to get out of hand.

    I am not a Brit nor am I Indian. But to hear some of you slam the Brits is a hypocritical joke. You think you are free from them? How can you if you are still there slave when you are part of the economic system they created and forced India to be a part of. Then you have the caste system, it's worse than racism. As Brahmins are usually light skinned and Dalits are the worst kind of outcast that can exist in any part of the world. Islam vs Hindu, Dhalit vs Brahmins..KARMA! Learn to love all

    Not to nitpick but if the prices of commodities were fixed, that's not what we call "free market". That's central command, rarely good for the actual producers. Chive on.

      Yes, the clip mentioned the fixed prices. The use of the term "free market" was intended as sarcasm.

    a bit biased and very cherry picking of it's facts...
    The revolt was a bitter fight w/many rank and file unsure of why they were fighting against their regiments and officers. Also one seldom hears of the numerous sepoys who stayed w/their colours. There would have been no way a few thousand white troops could have destroyed this rebellion if it had been anyway near as popular as anti imperialists seem to want to make it. The bulk of the men who did put this down were Indian, both Company/Crown troops and more than a few from local kings/princes who realized the rebellion had became more of a menace to them than the British.
    While there were numerous acts of bravery on both sides, the horrible atrocities committed are often conveniently forgotten. Eurasians, whites, civil servants of the Company were slaughtered in huge numbers by the rebels as were anyone taken in arms (some were blown away tied to cannon mouths), civilians near areas of resistance or where loyalists/whites were murdered when the British counter attacks pushed in.
    This is an event worthy of study. Both for how the rebellion came about and why it failed. It was not a real independence movement as we commonly understand it but the culmination of mistakes and poor leadership by the Company. It could and should have been avoided.

    @AndreHiltre caste system is not practically racism..it is painted as racism because Britishers infused in the minds on innocent Indians that Fair skinned higher castes are superior to Tribes and pork and beef eating Hindus who were coincidentally a bit darker.Then they used their missionary power to infuse hatred btwn the two to catalyzed conversions of low castes.British worsened the situation of Caste System even though on surface they banned it.Caste system was almost absent during Mughals.

    @AndreHiltre to did during raj...so many opened business here only when you were kicked out ...Ronald ross and Rudyard Kipling were all Indian born...India still has 125,000 anglo Indians...of Britishers who stayed in India...as India's population is large and country is big and you don't reporiduce fast it seemed rather insignificant at that time.British had 250,000 whites deployed in India during raj that were here to commit atrocities on Indians.

    @AndreHiltre British Indian Army..supported the emperor..lol.after some were taken hostage by Hitler...they decided to fight against British under the leadership of Subhas Chandra Bose who personally met Hitler to hand India PoWs to him to fight against Britishers in India. and bad politicians who created religious divide.??please elaborate with facts DIVIDE and RULE is your policy only.And Indians opted for British army because we were jobless under the RAJ and u promised us freedom in return.

  • @lablask
    @lablask 13 лет назад

    @AndreHiltre British fueled the Caste System for their own gains of policy called "DIVIDE AND RULE." It was there from 1200 years .but you guys twisted it to fit into modern times..though Caste System in India is dying a slow death as it gone from most of the communities and reduced in others.Its not that big as Western Media cries of.You used it as a tool to increase rich poor gap,suspended rural education....read Gandhi's My experiments with truth..how the legend of truth speaks of RAJ.

  • @lablask
    @lablask 13 лет назад

    @AndreHiltre STRONG?ORGANISED?...gimme a break...You divided India...which killed millions in riots...you left us as a divided,disorganized,poor,huge nation and we are still in its hangover as it has hit the very soul of Mother India....we are tolerating British Architecture because its the only thing you left as you couldn't take that back to England...we speak English not because of we love you but because of US a nation kicked you guys out of scene.

  • @lablask
    @lablask 13 лет назад

    @AndreHiltre sorry but you are way too ignorant to say that Indian poverty decreased during THE RAJ..India was not a poor country before RAJ for you to say that (we were richer than whole of Europe)and we already had nice roads,ports and cities before the RAJ.Urban Planning was invented in India only.search for Indian Innovations in wikipedia.Literacy and overall HDI declined many folds...you guys have serious educational issues in history my friend..is that bias education you receive back home.
