    Poch took Southampton to a level where not long after moving to Spurs, the Saints could attract the likes of van Dijk and Mane. People lazily associate him with Spurs lack of trophies yet he did more in his 5 years at Spurs than Arteta has at Arsenal except winning one early trophy with the previous manager's team. If Poch's 'process' hadn't been sabotaged by Levy there's no telling the progress he could have made. A final in his first season, title challenge in his second and the closest challengers to Conte's relentless Chelsea in his third in 2017 and two finals losing only to Mourinho's Chelsea and Klopp's Liverpool.
    He won 3 trophies at PSG in one and a half seasons as well as a CL semi. Ancelotti at PSG 2011-13 won one trophy in the same time span. Time people understood Poch is a very good manager and had his major project sabotaged by a chairman notorious for it and has had to endure a false perception of his ability based not on his work but his association with the club overseen by that chairman.

    • @hnaku8748
      @hnaku8748 14 дней назад +2

      Some counter arguments:
      Ancelotti was the first manager under the Qatari regime, so understandably he had it rougher. He left on his own accord, and was never sacked. Pochettino on the other hand, was provided Messi and managed to have the worst win percentage last 11 years. And he was sacked. He fell out with the director, some of the players, and the fans. At Spurs no matter how we sugarcoat it, he won nothing 5+ years and was sacked too. Which other top manager ever went 5 years without a trophy in recent memory? He has had near 7 years in England and 15 years in total of football management. That's time. He has won almost nothing in that time period. Pep is only a year older, would you believe it.
      In my opinion the doubts won't be removed until he wins a major trophy or two with Chelsea(he had the luck of draws this season, and still failed). If he's good enough for Chelsea(who have been among the most decorated trophy wise in past couple of decades) is a very open debate for me. Peak Mourinho, peak Conte, Ancelotti, Tuchel etc. that's the level he's competing with. It isn't Harry Redknapp (most respectfully of course), AVB was semi okay in Spurs, totally drowned at Chelsea.

    • @roboi2241
      @roboi2241 14 дней назад

      @@hnaku8748 Arteta's had 5 years and unless West Ham pull off a miracle tomorrow will be 5 years at Arsenal without winning a trophy in a full season. He won a trophy with Emery's team coached by Emery for half of that season.
      There's no comparing this Chelsea team to previous ones during the Abramovich era except the name. This Boehly one needs steady nurturing and finding a new identity after 2 years of chaos.
      The level of Spurs (respectfully) isn't Pep's Barca, Bayern, City or Abramovich era Chelsea so comparing his work at Spurs to the manager's at those clubs is false. Relatively to what he had at his disposal at Spurs, he compares favorably with those managers. When he went to a club expected to win trophies he did and is now gradually getting a laughing stock Chelsea out of the mire and slowly wiping a lot of smirks off faces.

      @@roboi2241 It might sound as a surprise, but that's why I still don't rate Arteta as a top manager. 🙂 In my opinion Emery with the same time and backing would have done better. Held that opinion before his Villa stint. Though Arteta does have age in his favour(and perhaps better connection to the club itself).
      I'm also of the belief the top managers are either very influential or win a lot. Pochettino for me is a 'nearly there' kind, above average in both but not among the best. He's paid Carlo Ancelotti money(with much lesser CV, even age adjusted), and has no prior connection to the club. Rather the opposite. So it could be well argued the resources can be more efficiently used.

Led Mainz to their highest ever league position in their entire club history (remember Klopp was there too). Won a Pokal with Dortmund. CV wise it's no contest. Same with connection to Chelsea.
      If not them him yes, Pochettino staying would make sense (I would still risk it with Zidane or Inzaghi but that's just my bias, lot stronger argument against them).

    Give the man time. He walked into a club in shambles and squad of 34 players simply bought on a whim by Bohey and his real-life attempt at playing Football Manager. Chelsea have been hard to watch for most of the season but the last five or so games you can see Poch and the team making progress. Poch should be given the opportunity to trim the squad of players he sees do not fit his philosophy and let him strengthen the team in the areas he feels he needs to. For the first time in a long time there is a glimpse of hope Chelsea will become the team they once were.

      The thing is, in an optimistic view it doesn't matter who Chelsea have as manager. In football(and in general in life I guess) we've got to prepare for the worst. Sacking Pochettino mid season would likely leave Chelsea in a worse situation than now (lesser options and no preseason for any new manager coming in). So whatever the decision, it has to be stuck with even if Chelsea struggle. Fans are already saying judge him in 10 games again, I don't think that's ideal. The decision to change or not has to be made now.

Loads of people saying he don’t win trophies but he won 2 trophies at PSG and obviously none at Tottenham but that’s not his fault that’s bcus spurs can’t win trophies. Conte won trophies at Juventus, Inter and Chelsea but couldn’t win nothing at spurs.. Same goes for Mourinho wins trophies at Porto, Chelsea, Inter, Real Madrid, Man United but couldn’t win at spurs.. So don’t judge the man for not winning trophies at a club that simply just cannot win trophies

      He had the worst win percentage at PSG last 11 years (that's with Messi in his team). Worse than likes of Galtier and Laurent Blanc. There's a reason he was sacked. He has been in management for 15 years and has no trophy to show apart from the underwhelming PSG stint. He has to win a trophy or two with Chelsea to prove doubters wrong(he had the luck of draws this season and still failed). He went 5+ seasons at Spurs without any silverware, which top manager goes without a trophy for 5 years? It's been near 7 years in total for him in England. Even the likes of Arteta and Ten Hag have more, who both have had major doubts surrounding them in recent times.

The injuries, inexperience, lack of leadership, players not even knowing themselves better, getting the mangers players he may not even want etc were all factors that played against Poch coupled with his own mistakes of in game management, using players in the wrong positions, not trusting the academy players, over use and reliance on Jackson even when he was playing so badly and always over protection of the players that they were young.

But in his first season the guy was making passes that reminded me of Fabregas. Anyway we could also very easily build it around Noni (not as convincing imo). We could also build a team around Caicedo if we wanted to lol. i think in the short term, the splurging of money was insane, but in the long term, its looking scary imo

      The problem with Enzo is that his playing style doesn't complement those around him at Chelsea. On paper it looks amazing with him and Caicedo in the middle of the park but on the actual pitch it has been woeful. Tbh Chelsea has looked better without him. I think you are also right we do need a Fabregas type player or a player like Mount (during the CL season) who will connect our middle of the park with the front line. I'm also not really sold on Madueke and I think with time and patience Mudryk can be that player we believed we signed at first, he just needs to work on his output and needs to be comfortable with everything around him more

    Long time? Do you jokers know this is youngsters being groomed for the future? Pep inherited a world class squad at City and still bought more but still couldn’t win the league. Success is built with time and planning. On a regular day with fit players don’t y’all think Chelsea will be hard to beat?

    There is a tangible potential there and slowly and surely Pochettino is getting results. It has been a torturous difficult season at many moments, but the finish has been composed. Impressive considering the psychological damage that we assumed would hinder them after the 0-5 mauling by Arsenal

    A thing I would like to see with Madueke is rhythm in a game which he has had the past few games despite not being at his best and other games he hasn’t had rhythm but had moments of brilliance.
    This can only come with game time

    To say Madueke did not want to take responsibility is nonsense. Look at his goals and you will see him get goals from nothing. I've been saying all season he should have been playing and if he did Chelsea would have had a better season because he not only understand how to attack, but understands how to defend and is willing to fight for his team defensively, not just attack as a pose to Palmer who only knows how to attack and not only does understand defense, is not interested in it and refuses to fight defensively and so disrupts Chelsea's defensive operations while getting them goals. This is why Chelsea have conceded so many goals and drawn and lost games they should have won. This has happened all season and should have been sorted out earlier and Pochettino is to blame for that as either he could not see it, or he did not have the guts to bench Palmer in fear of the media with their agenda driving the fans into hysteria against him or move him to midfield as putting him striker was a failed operation. Any great manager would have seen what had to be done and either benched Palmer or moved him to midfield. Pep decided it was best to sell him as he knows what is needed from the players to be a top team and Klopp and Alex Ferguson too would have done the same if a player did not do what was needed for the team to succeed irrelevant of what the media and pundits said who no nothing about managing a successful team. But Pochettino only moved Palmer to midfield because he was forced to by Enzo getting injured. Next season he will have to make his mind up and choose between Caicedo, Enzo, Palmer and Gallagher with one of them benched. If he chooses instead to run from reality and put Palmer back on the wing, Chelsea will go back to the season of Palmer scoring goals, but then messing up Chelsea's defense resulting in Chelsea losing and drawing games they should have won. Chelsea can forget being a top four team and settle for being mid table team fighting for scraps of European football. The media will be delighted as long as Palmer gets some goals as that is their agenda, not Chelsea winning. Pochettino's agenda should be to ensure Chelsea win and win consistently. The Chelsea team should have always had Madueke on one wing and Sterling the highest scoring winger in Premier League history if you exclude penalties on the other all season. It is this topic that makes not have confidence in Pochettino's ability to take Chelsea to the top. The proof of what I am saying is right there in Chelsea last few games with Enzo injured where it has not been about Palmer, it has been about the team Madueke on the right wing and Mudryk, another defensive liability, but not as bad as Palmer and better with Gallagher near by watching him, or Sterling and all his experience and achievements on the left. Peace and love

    Chealsea sucked inexcusably for much of this season and part of the responsibility for that belongs to the manager. I don’t know what people are yapping about on the comment section. We should have won the Caraboa cup if not for Poch’s mentality. The criticisms were legitimate and probably contributed to our rise. We can also say we are doing well now thanks to Poch.

    • @el.aye.bee.4477
      @el.aye.bee.4477 14 дней назад

      Part of the reason we "sucked inexcusably" for much of the season has to do with the fact that we have had more injuries than any other team in the league and possibly in Europe. The least YOU could do is to acknowledge that.

    If he was in a big club like Real, bayern, juventus or barca would he be given another chance?? The answer is No. But then again current chelsea is not a big club.
    Juventus fired Allegri even after being in the top 4 and winning the coppa italia.
    Chelsea has conceded the most goals ever, they sit almost 30 points of Mancity, lost a cap final to kids, Poch playing players off positions and making poor subs all the time.
    Nah,, Poch out for me,
    he's a waste of time and the club will regret keeping him after another mediocre season.
