People really don’t remember how Atalanta had PSG on the ropes in the champions league knockout stages a few years ago… they’ve been making the most of their modest budget and playing attractive attacking football for years, they totally deserve this success… only regret is that Il Profesore, Josip Ilicic, isn’t still around to enjoy this success…

the reason why Gasperini still hasn't been called seriously by big clubs is that he is an iron sergeant, he is authoritarian and he doesn't like those who for one reason or another do what they want (for this reason he is considered unfit to manage the established champions), the latest examples being Papu Gomez, Demiral and Ilicic, who after having escaped from Italy in the Covid period, did not return even when the emergency was almost over for the most important matches (perhaps the clash with PSG, but I could be wrong) . After that episode, Gasperini's consideration practically disappeared

Liverpool played weak sides in those two losses. Not their strongest side as they were concentrating on the Premier League then. They were actually putting 4, 5, 6 past Europa League teams. They thrashed Prague 11-2 in the previous round.
Against Atalanta, again Klopp put out a weakened side, was overconfident and Liverpool got punished, although the scoreline flattered Atalanta. They weren't 3-0 better than Liverpool and Liverpool won in Atalanta.

So happy for Atalanta and Gasperini. Atalanta are maybe pound-for-pound the best-run club on the continent (have punched way above their weight every year for a decade now), with a great academy (Bastoni, Amad, Kessié, Kulusevski, Scalvini and Ruggeri who both played tonight). And Gasperini has improved practically every player he's coached there (looking at the massive giant profit they turn every year), and a lot of the up-and-coming coaches in Serie A played under him (Thiago Motta, Jurić and Palladino). Antonio Conte was a 4-4-2 coach before he watched Gasperini's Genoa. A brilliant night for football.

Everton are going to be screaming to the moon and kicking themselves for a year, for letting Lookman leave after that performance and not getting at least £60 or £70m transfer fee. Those skills and finishing was no fluke.

Leverkusen were extremely lucky to be unbeaten at this point. This game merely exposed their true level outside the Bundesliga. Constantly clawing last minute goals when outplayed, miraculous things going their way like the Red card against Qarabag. Man City losing 3 games in a season is still far more impressive and they won a UCL treble.

Now we see why they beat Liverpool in the quarters. A hard working team who are not necessarily the most talented individuals but boy they work like soldier ants and bring home the goods. Well done Atalanta 👏

Xabi Alonso messed up but let’s be honest Atalanta is the better side and I believe if they play again 10 more times, Atalanta could win 9 out of 10.

Ederson and Koopmeiners were exceptional, along with Scalvini. Scamacca doing his job as the target man that he is. Really happy Scalvini is showing this level of maturity, he's going to be a critical part of our defense at the Euros

Leverkusen played even worse than in the Qarabag game. Atalanta played brilliant, its just what happens at the top, if you have a offday and your opponent has a good day, you lose.

Koopmeiner is class midfielder, he had one of the most underrated season, closest to Gundogan if i can think of any player, city should go all out for me, rather than wasting 100 million on bruno guimarães, koopmeiner amd scalvini both combined will cost around 120 million at most

The first goal, I wondered if Leverkusen even knew who Koopmeiner is. The guy literally was given all that space in the box, and look what he did! He is not the kind of player you give that much space.

Already said it, I was pulling for Atalanta. Anyone who watched the semi-finals & can analyze football a bit better than the casual fan, saw that the only reason Leverkusen even made it to the final was because Roma ABSOLUTELY sht the bed & Svilar conceded one of the worst goals I've ever seen at the top level of European competition.
