Ikarian Longevity and the Microbiome, a New Study

The microbiome -- the bacteria in our guts, in other words -- plays a significant role in overall health and longevity. Watch my interview with native Ikarian son Dr. Theoklis Zaoutis, an infectious disease specialist and pediatrician, as well as the head of public health in Greece. He conducted a fascinating study of the microbiome in olider and young Ikarians, and compared the two groups to similar cohorts on the equally remote island of Astypalia. The results are intriguing.

Families in US are now spread out--lots of isolation in elder years. True for myself. No sense of community. The toxic Trump politics has done no favors for longevity!
