I still can't get over how good Soul Calibur 2 still looks to this day. I get that the version you showed was upscaled in Dolphin, but it's wild that the original assets hold up so well under the scrutiny of higher resolutions.

I have always said that Soul Calibur 2 is the greatest looking video game for its time, ever. It looks good even today and if a brand new AAA title came out looking like Soul Calibur 2 I would not complain about its appearance.

There are some good ssbm glitches like this. My favorite is theblack hole glitch where you can create a floating ball of turnips that one shots anyone that contacts it
Oh, my God, you unlocked a memory I forgot I had. Brawl had a very similar black hole glitch, and I remember being blown away by its existence as a kid.
I think my personal favorite is the “Ghost Arrow” just because of how batshit insane it can get (although technically not actually pointless because removing ui elements could fuck with your opponent, it’s only doable in a version of the game that people don’t play so i think it counts)
Isn't black hole also the setup for a bunch of other really interesting but oftentimes pointless glitches? Like I believe the black hole starts working because of entity overflow or something so things stop spawning correctly

Guile's Golden Stance was a legendary way of infuriatingly ending a match and wasting someone else's money.
Honda's Infinite Air Dick combo is just overpowered
4:02 a similar glitch I found in Soulcalibur VI is if you do Ivy's 214A unblockable and instantly cancel it into a grab, the fire effect will remain on Ivy's sword (only for the duration of the grab).
It looks REALLY cool when you do it on Summon Suffering, which can be done by circling the stick a bunch, ending with 214A, then inputting 1A+G quickly.
You can also get the fire effect to stay on her taunt and GI 👍

a fun glitch i found in KOF15 is with ralf. if you keep doing the shortest version of mash punch back to back, it gets louder everytime for some reason
I remember going to the local arcade in the early 90s and couldn't play Street Fighter because someone had performed what we called "Start the car" glitch and softlocked the game. It was done with a shoryuken rather than cross-up jump kick though.
I actually myself found an invisibility glitch recently:
In MK9, if you are in practice mode with Cyrax, his x-ray has him turn invisible at one point. If you reset the stage at the moment he turns invisible, he will still be invisible until you do his x-ray again.
MK9 had a fun glitch with Kung Lao. EX low hat and hold the button down so it stays on the ground. You can back throw an opponent into it, while your back is in a corner, and it will hurt you both and push Lao out of bounds
In mvc2, sometimes morrigan will fly off screen for 2-5 seconds if you push block her drill-kick.
MvC2 is held together with masking tape, horse dump and pig vomit.
If you mash buttons and spin the stick during Ruby Heart's flying tackle super you can make her fly off screen and softlock the game until the match times out.
@@Anomaly188 actually, that's done by taunting and doing regular schwarzaile. It freezes up the Naomi and DC, but was patched out of later ports.
Melee has a whole video series worth of those (in fact it's been done). Some glitches require items and some are stage specific and most of them are not particularly useful so you won't see any of them in tournament. After 20 years that game has been so deconstructed that even most people who play it today don't know about all of these glitches, it's mostly known to glitch hunters, modders and TASers.
Seeing the invisible ceiling glitch happen vs. Luigi in tourney is a favorite memory
Thanos's power stone glitch in MvC2 was my favorite; i think you DHC out of the super as early as possible, then tag back into Thanos and the sun sprite is attached to his hand.
The smash series has some of the funniest glitches in fighting games.
I think it was the just the arcade version of vanilla Tekken 7 where Asuka could turn someone into a "ghost". Asuka has a command grab where she tosses you into the air and she can either just let you land and take damage or use it as a launch. Asuka had a glitch where if she did her Rage Art at the same time her opponent landed from the command grab and was k.o.'d, the round wouldn't end, the other character could still move around like normal, but no longer had any hurtboxes or hitboxes.
This is the fgc, someone somewhere at some time will find big brain uses for this that will only ever be applicable once but theyve been labbing for this day... the hype will be legendary
I got one for you: in base Arcana Heart 3 if you use Fenrir and get hit on the same frame you use a Fenrir super the super won't come out but Fenrir will remain on screen and activating a Fenrir special will cause Fenrir to teleport to you but do nothing.
You fix it by using a super but it was funny seeing people get scared of a visual bug that served no purpose

A glitch I'll always love is in Naruto Shippuden: Clash of Ninja Revolution 3
If Kabuto does his aoe (down+special) or aoe (back+heavy) against Kurenai the game just breaks. No specific timing, 1v1 or 1v1v1v1, it just freezes until you unplug the system. it's funny because Kurenai is by far the worst character in the game, but at least in one of her matchups she removes two pretty good moves from the opponent all together. So if you ever find yourself playing this 14 year old game on the Wii then you can choose to be "that guy" if you're losing badly.
I know 2 obscure glitches I found when I was a kid in X-Men Mutant academy 2
1: You can cancel / dubbel every special move by switching it from a light to a mid or heavy version, and they WILL hit twice if fast enough.
Example with Magneto and Cyclops: D>F light punch punch, and the second you press light punch press Mid punch
2: Sabretooth has a air super move, when you do it on the frame of landing you do get the slowdown but you can move and attack normally but the opponent is stuck in slowmo
This looks really funny because Sabretooth can just do a command grab to the opponent, but only he does the move, then when the slowdown is done the opponent will get the thrown animation 3 seconds later
Killer Instinct (original) may have had more glitches than MvC2.
I know there was a way in Tekken 5, at least in the early versions, to perform a version of Raven's BT 3+4 that had no hitbox. It has been a long time, but I think the command was something like BT ff+3~4. I can't guarantee it still works in the console versions though, it may have been fixed, I only played in the arcade back in the day and I never owned the console version.

Soulcalibur V. There's a glitch you can do with Z.W.E.I.'s Unleash Vanargandr Edge Attack. If use use it, his wolf spirit assist thing disappears for a second, then attacks. If you use Z.W.E.I.'s super while the wolf spirirt is gone, the wolf will attack during the superflash, and the enemy's (that's supposed to get attacked by the wolf spirit during the super) will start getting comboed by an invisible wolf instead. The super still launches, so you can even combo from it.

Wolvie's glitch is a thing of the 90's because we've done that in the arcades. But like you said, it's pointless, so there's no need to go showboating to the noobs about it. Haha

I know one from Mortal Kombat Armageddon
You have to go to the character creation, give your character the slowest projectyle, one that is like a black smoke bomb, and the Raiden Super Man dash attack
Deal is that the slow projectyle can activate deathtraps and transitions, but it is so slow you can catch up with the super man dash before, if you manage to connect both moves almost at once something weird will happen

Ill try here since nobody seems to have footage of it. If you boot up brawl and go and fight taboo, if you use sonic and air dodge his chain whip attack on the perfect frame sonic with permanently be stuck T-posing inside of him and eventually the game will crash
I found some really wonky glitches in Mortal Kombat Trilogy with Noob Saibot. Characters keep momentum if you kill them with his no block ball. Also the AI brutalities you if you kill them up close with the no block ball. I have a video on my channel.

And then homaged in MK2: by holding D+LP+LK+BK while doing the uppercut Fatality, Johnny punches the dude's head off three times.

Not exactly a useless glitch but for SF4 Vega can set-up an unblockable Ultra 1 on Ibuki but if you set the training dummy to “guard all” it will block it (just like every other unblockable in SF4)
BUT if you do the same set up on specifically the PC version of SF4 it’s a true unblockable, even the dummy on “Guard all” can’t block it. I think it’s the only true unblockable set-up in USF4.
i want someone to find mix-up potential in these visual bugs somehow, maybe with the wolverine one

If the cars a rockin... it's a glitch
In soul calibur 3, you can cancel a grab animation, so the grab animation on the grabbed enemy will play out in full, but your character can move around the arena just fine.
You can probably get a combo off of it, but otherwise it's a pretty useless glitch that's just funny to do
