i smoke one bowl a week. used to be heavy cigarette smoker (20 to 40 cigarettes a day), quit for 2 years now i just use pipe from time to time for a taste and i don't inhale.
@@jacobergh7940 for first 2 years I've quit entirely before I've considered pipe, to start with I got on 4 week cytisine pills (you drop 1 pill a day every few days up to a point when you quit) also I've quit drinking any alcohol for first few months since after drinking I had strong urge to smoke. After few months it was no that hard to continue.

As a new pipe smoker I've been enjoying at least one bowl a day, sometimes two on the weekends. A cigar smoker for years, it was very unusual for me to smoke more than 1 or two cigars in a week. I have to say I kick myself for not trying pipe smoking years ago because I'm really enjoying it. I'm learning a lot from your videos and enjoy them very much as well. Keep up the good work.

I am only a weekend smoker as that is all I have time for, but look forward to retirement to be able to enjoy pipe smoking even more. I try to watch at least one of your videos each day. Get through 2-3 bowls a week. Used to smoke cigarettes almost continuously until 2003. Pipe smoking, to me, is something I do as a treat, I don't really plan it, I just get a nice calm mood come on, usually when I've accomplished something satisfying, like diagnosing and fixing a long-term issue with one of my vehicles (air-cooled VWs and old motorcycles seem to follow me home a lot) and I'll think "You know what? That deserves a nice, peaceful hour on the back deck with a smoke." Really enjoy watching your videos. Stay healthy, dude.

I'm mad jealous of your collection. I live in WA where it's virtually impossible to find nice tinned pipe tobacco, thanks to strict tobacco shipping laws and not a large enough demand. I smoke at the moment I'd say 5 bowls a day.
I don't know if you know this but there is a law similar to Washington that is being considered in congress. It's been in committee for years, but if it ever gets passed it would snuff out smoking for everyone. 😂
I feel you brother. However depending where you live in Washington. There is a pipe shop in Tacoma called “Tinder Box” they have told me if there is any Tobaccos I want to purchase online. They can legally place an order for them and sell them to you. Unless they have changed their policy it Might be worth trying if you’re in the area.
I shoot for two bowls a week, but stressful weeks see me smoke a bowl every day, usually to relax after work. If I want to do more after that, or if I feel like smoking all day on a day off, I commit the heresy of using tobacco free kinnikinnick style blends. Even if there isn't a leaf of actual tobacco in the bowl, the fact that I'm sitting here smoking a pipe puts me in a good mental place.

I usually smoke one bowl every night after dinner during the weekdays when I come back home from work (most relaxed time to smoke a pipe, since it's not possible for me to apply myself to pipe smoking during my short lunch break) and around three bowls per day during the weekend, when other errands allow me to do that up to that much :)
I generally smoke around the same amount as you do. Whenever my parents are out of town, however, I smoke more often - around three or four bowls a day - more if I am smoking my trusty bent billiard meerschaum. The most bowls I have ever smoked in a day was ten, and that was on the day I bought that pipe at my local B & M pipe and cigar store and took advantage of the fact that it didn't ghost. Had the last blend I tried been something other than a harsh VaPer, I probably would've kept going.
I’m fairly new to pipe smoking and smoke 1 a day but recently took a few days away from the pipe , I started off with aromatics and recently bought spcs “wildman” , “plum pudding rum barrel aged” (in my cellar) and “Mississippi River” I have to say spc has opened my eyes and taste buds to an entirely new flavor profile..very Smokey I love it !

I really enjoy your videos. Just a little question hough . How often does the average pipe smoker smoke a pipe? I'm a late starter at 50 years but I have many memories of my good old Dad smoking his pipes and I decided to refurbish them and join the great pipe fraternity. Another question since I'm on a roll. Do you have issues with discolouration / coating of your tongue? I maintain a good oral hygiene but I find I have a sweet tasting/tingling feeling on my tongue for hours after smoking a bowl. There are so many questions I have so get ready....
Try smoking Virginias and Va/Pers from a pipe with a very narrow bowl/chamber. I have found that this drastically helps control the heat because the ember is small. I have all my narrow bowled pipes dedicated to Virginia-based tobaccos for this reason.
I smoke a little fast myself. I recently got a clay tavern pipe. I think it's a 16 inch. Smokes cool because of the length. Just can't hold it by the bowl. Gets hot as a skillet! Great pipe for smoking fast and it doesn't need to rest. Soon as it cools down you can reload and keep smoking.

I personally just got started a couple weeks ago. I plan on smoking once a week as many bowls that I want at a time. Usually two to three bowls. I have one session on Saturday night to help me signify the end the week. A reward for making it through the week. I like to contemplate the week I had and the week up coming. I’m worried about addiction so I try to limit myself.

I am new to pipes and love your channel, keep the videos coming because it has helped. What I like most is your live and let live attitude so to speak on what was may be best.For example, I pretty much have to hold my pipes. I am a long time cigarette and more recently little cigar smoker, with an occasional regular cigar thrown in. For several days now, I have have been strictly smoking the pipe, which tastes great comparatively. And,not smoking things that I in hale are a little better for me. This video interested me because as I have given up those things the last few days I have found myself going from 2 pipes to maybe 5-6. Now, I only have two pipes and one has a fairly small bowl, so that may not be as much as it sounds. That bring me to a request if possible. I would like to see a video explaining bowl sizes, some of the issues associated with small bowls versus larger bowls and tip on how to deal with those issues. I have not seen a video of yours that covers this. If I have overlooked such a video please let me know. Thanks again for the awesome channel brother and happy piping!

You mentioned cadence in this video, and maybe its because all of your pipe smoking has you so darned relaxed... but my personal preference for your "cadence" is to speed up your videos to 1.25x speed. I feel that this is the sweet spot. You are so chill and deliberate with your words that it clashes with my expectations of fast talking. lol Keep up the good work!
Muttonchop if a blend smokes to hot, mix a little straight Black Cavendish with it. It will tend to make the blend a little sweeter and it will burn slower.
6-7 bowls a day here, used to be a 2 pack a day cigarette smoker, just got into the pipes again and love it, Mac Baren vanilla creme is my first and last smoke of the day, and I usually smoke Mr. Bs Canadian winter throughout the day. Using my Brigham chinook and LOVE it.
Great video thanks for sharing. I like your idea of keeping a log throughout the year to review at the end. I always struggle with my top ten because my tastes are always changing 😀
I have the same problem, that's where the log comes in to play, for me at least I can't remember how many times I smoke a certain blend, so I log it, then at the end of the year I will probably be surprised at how many times I go back to certain blends. 👍
VA and VaPers I smoke really close to going out and I'm ok relighting 10-15 times if I have to. If I have thick smoke I slow down. I also just let it go out instead of trying to take quick puffs to try to get it going again. Though I did start smoking cigars before pipes so I was already smoking slower. Also, try using matches instead of a lighter (though i think you're a match user already.) The flame difference is over 400*F and can affect the flavor quite heavily. Between using only matches and not worrying about re-lights my experiences are way better with more consistent flavor and enjoyable flavor.
I think that's what I am doing wrong, I like lots of smoke, which I know is wrong, but I can't help puffing away, but I will take your suggestions and keep trying. I'll get there, it will just take some practice thanks for viewing and being a sub.

Which tobacco product do you think is the most relaxing? And also, your tobacco is in jars. Do you take them out of the bags they arrive in and put them there? Why?
There is no real answer for the first question, it’s like drinking coffee, everyone likes it different, and for the second question, I use mason jars to keep the tobacco fresh and moist.

On the weekdays, 4 ~ 6 bowls... before lunch. Then about the same after lunch, but depends how late I stay up. Might sneak one or two more in if I’m up late working. I smoke a bit less on the weekends because our family is on the go. I smoke a bit of 1Q, Haunted Bookshop, Creme Brûlée, Gaslight, Jackknife, and Quiet Nights with the stronger blends being my early morning and late evening smokes.
Ryan Russell - That’s about how much I smoke on the weekends as well, less during the week because of my work schedule, right now during the winter my main rotation is a light English in the morning, usually Early Morning Pipe, then a Va/Per usually firestorm, or Elizabethan, then in the afternoon I smoke a deeper English like G. L. Pease Westminster, might sneak in an Aromatic after dinner like CAO Eileen’s Dream as a desert smoke, then later that evening another deep English like Gaslight, or Nightcap. 👍👍👍
4-5 small to average size bowls daily of English blends (oriental forward latakia or a vaper) and 1 bowl of aromatic tobacco as a "dessert smoke" to end the night
I too enjoy English blends in the evening. I'm a big fan of full flavored blends like Dunhill Nightcap. It is very aptly named. Once you smoke that, you're pretty much finished for the day.
Also, I prolly average 1-2 bowls a day during the week and double that on the weekends. So maybe a little less than you, but not much. I smoke outdoors though so during the coldest months I don't smoke nearly as much.
I have never tried Dunhill Nightcap because frankly I'm a nicotine middle weight, I have heard it can deliver guide a kick. I can handle nicotine but only to a point, once that point is reached I am miserable for the next 3 hours, so I try to stay in my comfort zone. 😁
+Muttnchop Piper while Nightcap does have a decent nicotine content, it is no worse than several other blends. If you can handle Elizabethan Mixture, I don't think you'll have any trouble with Nightcap. I think they're about on par with each other. If you have it after a meal I think you'll be fine. You could also try it in a smaller bowl so you're not getting so much if you're concerned about it. Just off the top of my head I can think of several that deliver a stronger Vitamin N hit. Royal Yacht, Peterson Irish Flake and Sam Gawith 1792 Flake are all substantially stronger.
I smoke between 4 and 7 bowls a day. I smoke in my car so the more work I do out of my truck on a give. Day really ups the tobacco smoking. I've found that my go to tobacco of late is Lane Crown Achievement. It's an English blend, which I prefer, and it has the right amount of perique. If you haven't tried it I highly recommend it.

I am trying to train myself/ work on tasting flavors, that is one of the most difficult parts of pipe smoking to me (most of the time I just discern whether I like it or not, haha). I had a question for you. Have you ever tried Ashton Smooth Sailing? I like it myself, but I’m trying to work on tasting it’s particular flavors. I hope you’re doing well, take care!
Hey Muttnchop, longtime listener first time caller. I know your blend selection has expanded but I'd love to know: 1 do you still smoke capstan and escudo? If so, do you find that the pipe you smoke it with seems tart or slightly sour after a couple of bowls? I have that sourness after and i don't think it is sour pipe but not sure what to do 2 you smoke Fusiliers, but have you tried whiteknight?
A couple of questions: I seldom smoke aromatics, but I notice that you have Old Toby jarred on your "Middle-Earth shelf". I've heard so many good things about that blend that I am seriously considering trying it. Would you give your opinion on it, its good points and its drawbacks? Secondly, I most often start the day with Early Morning Pipe and end the evening with Nightcap, both blends I learned to love when they were put out by Dunhill but find no difference in the current Peterson offerings. You listed neither as regular smokes of your own. Any reason why not? Thanks for this vid.
Great video Muttn, lately ive been smoking sparingly lately maybe once or twice a month. but when i do smoke I SMOKE LOL problay around 5 or 6 bowls a day. one of my favorites lately has been a concoction of my own. i call it Lanes revenge which is 2 parts Queen annes revenage(sutlif) and 1 part Lane 1q. Its really wonderful after a few months of sitting in jars.
That is a lot of smoking. I can at most smoke 2 bowls a day, I'm pretty sensitive to nic and caffeine (makes sense since they bond to the same receptor). It's a blessing and a curse, forces me to really regulate how much I consume of either, otherwise I get a lot of anxiety and insomnia.
I met your channel a couple of days ago and, as I'm on vacancies, have seen most of the videos. Just fantastic! One of the best teaching approaches on the RUclips Pipe Community. And you deal with some interesting, comprehensive and unique themes. Remarkable! And great video this one. I've been facing a similar problem with virginias. I love the taste, the smell. I've tried to slow down the rhythm of puffs but it still tends to give me a mild tongue bite. Do you think that if I tried some mixed tobbaco it would be better? I'd rather choose some very mild mixture (a little of the processed cavendish could change this burning?) because the virginia taste is just incredible to me. First of all thanks Bruno, my goal when I started this channel was to get right to the point, and teach those that are in need the information they are seeking, I am glad it's coming across that way, now to your question, for some reason oriental leaf does not give me tongue bite, or irritate my tongue condition, so I would suggest getting some Grand Oriental Drama Reserve, and first try it, if you like it then mix some of the Virginia you love with some Drama Reserve, about 70% Virginia with 30% drama, see if that does the trick. 👍👍😃
Although I've never tried Grand Oriental Drama Reserve, as I enjoy pretty much Turkish/Oriental tobacco, it could be a nice choice by itself! Besides, all McClelland tobacco I've smoked were very good. I will definitely try this mixture 70/30%. Thank you very much!
If I have nothing going on and it's nice outside, I'll go through 6-10 bowls. Its usually 1-2 bowls on a normal work day depending on when I get home. The tobaccos and pipes I choose just depends on my mood.
Yes....mood has a lot to do with the tobacco I choose as well, it's funny, I'll get home stand in front of my tobaccos and for some reason a tobacco will just appeal to me over all others, so I grab it and light me up a bowl. Thanks for sharing and watching my video 😎
Im pretty much a fall/winter pipe smoker so this may be a stupid question, do you break out a different pipe for each smoke? Such as one for work, one for morning, one for evening? Or is it for each type of tobacco?
I have 2 sets of pipes, one set for Aromatics, and a set for Non-Aromatics, I usually smoke Non-Aromatics most of the time, and I usually smoke 3 to 4 times a day using the same pipe for each smoke, I do a light cleaning between smokes, clear out the ash from the previous smoke, use a pipe cleaner to sweep away the ash on the bowl walls. And then run a couple of pipe cleaners down from the mouthpiece to the heal of the pipe. Then load up and smoke another bowl.

Ok, a Vaper is short for a Virginia, Perique blend, VA for the state of Virginia’s state abbreviation, and PER for the first letters in The Perique Blending tobacco, Virginia is also a type of blending tobacco.
I couldn't agree more with a ”deep English” to finish off your day. Personally, all I smoke are English blends. I have to ask what is your favorite deep English blend?
Muttnchop Piper, I absolutely love your videos sir. The only piper I subscribe to on RUclips actually. My question is, are most all of your pipes smoked indoors? I once smoked a half bowl of an aromatic inside and the wife was NOT happy with me. She said it smelled horrible, and I think I had to agree with her, it didn't sell nice at all. It was 1Q. I figured I'd try the most popular blend to pull off an indoor smoke! If you do smoke indoors mostly, do you notice a pretty nasty smell in your smoking room at all? Maybe I'm just doing it wrong :) Thank you again for all the great videos, you have a calming way about you, so when I can't smoke to relax (it's snowing outside) I can watch some Muttnchop vids!
kleraudio - thank you my friend, I am Honored by your kind words. I have a unique situation when it comes to smoking in my house. First my Smoking Parlor is on one side of the house, and where my wife spends the majority of her time is on the other side. Two - we have central air and the air intake with a filtering unit is located right outside the parlor door in the ceiling with the circulating fan always on, as I smoke my pipe the smoke is drawn in to the intake of the central air unit and filtered, so it's very rare my wife smells my tobacco smoke. You can purchase an air purifier that essentially douse the same thing, it's a fan with a filtering unit attached, that might be a solution for you. 👍👍👍

I will smoke either an average sized bowl of EMP in the mornings on the drive to work or a very Latakia forward English blend (usually Comoy's English). Unfortunately this is only in summer when my girlfriend can sit comfortably with the windows down and not get too cold as we work the same job and I drive her in every morning. Then maybe twice or three times a week I will smoke a small bowl of an aromatic on the way back from the gym. At the moment I smoke maybe 4/5 bowls a week. In summer I smoke more. Love our hobby
Great Videos; I would love a smoking parlour. I do have a question about pipes if may? are tobacco pipes only any good for tobacco or could you smoke other natural, aromatic substances in them? I found this channel after looking on amazon at A.P Donavan pipes!

If it counts for anything, a few of the health related studies found benefits from smoking in moderation. The merits of the health benefits can be debated for sure, but mainly I was interested to find what they considered to be moderation. The consensus seemed to be four or fewer bowls per day. Which is about what I smoke as a minimum per month.
Jonathan Clark I agree, I think smoking a pipe in moderation is healthier then not smoking at all, the relaxation in smoking a pipe I feel extends your life, that's just my personal opinion, no evidence exist to support my opinion. 👍👍👍

I am only a weekend smoker as that is all I have time for, but look forward to retirement to be able to enjoy pipe smoking even more. I try to watch at least one of your videos each day. Get through 2-3 bowls a week. Used to smoke cigarettes almost continuously until 2003. Pipe smoking, to me, is something I do as a treat, I don't really plan it, I just get a nice calm mood come on, usually when I've accomplished something satisfying, like diagnosing and fixing a long-term issue with one of my vehicles (air-cooled VWs and old motorcycles seem to follow me home a lot) and I'll think "You know what? That deserves a nice, peaceful hour on the back deck with a smoke." Really enjoy watching your videos. Stay healthy, dude.

I'm mad jealous of your collection. I live in WA where it's virtually impossible to find nice tinned pipe tobacco, thanks to strict tobacco shipping laws and not a large enough demand. I smoke at the moment I'd say 5 bowls a day.
I don't know if you know this but there is a law similar to Washington that is being considered in congress. It's been in committee for years, but if it ever gets passed it would snuff out smoking for everyone. 😂
I feel you brother. However depending where you live in Washington. There is a pipe shop in Tacoma called “Tinder Box” they have told me if there is any Tobaccos I want to purchase online. They can legally place an order for them and sell them to you. Unless they have changed their policy it Might be worth trying if you’re in the area.
I shoot for two bowls a week, but stressful weeks see me smoke a bowl every day, usually to relax after work. If I want to do more after that, or if I feel like smoking all day on a day off, I commit the heresy of using tobacco free kinnikinnick style blends. Even if there isn't a leaf of actual tobacco in the bowl, the fact that I'm sitting here smoking a pipe puts me in a good mental place.
Generally as a truck driver I smoke 3 bowls a day but vape to handle my old cigarettes addiction

Hello Muttnchop Piper. I usually smoke one bowl every night after dinner during the weekdays when I come back home from work (most relaxed time to smoke a pipe, since it's not possible for me to apply myself to pipe smoking during my short lunch break) and around three bowls per day during the weekend, when other errands allow me to do that up to that much :)
One bowl a week on average, sometimes 3, sometimes none. Just whenever the mood strikes me.
I generally smoke around the same amount as you do. Whenever my parents are out of town, however, I smoke more often - around three or four bowls a day - more if I am smoking my trusty bent billiard meerschaum. The most bowls I have ever smoked in a day was ten, and that was on the day I bought that pipe at my local B & M pipe and cigar store and took advantage of the fact that it didn't ghost. Had the last blend I tried been something other than a harsh VaPer, I probably would've kept going.
I’m fairly new to pipe smoking and smoke 1 a day but recently took a few days away from the pipe , I started off with aromatics and recently bought spcs “wildman” , “plum pudding rum barrel aged” (in my cellar) and “Mississippi River” I have to say spc has opened my eyes and taste buds to an entirely new flavor profile..very Smokey I love it !

I really enjoy your videos. Just a little question hough . How often does the average pipe smoker smoke a pipe? I'm a late starter at 50 years but I have many memories of my good old Dad smoking his pipes and I decided to refurbish them and join the great pipe fraternity. Another question since I'm on a roll. Do you have issues with discolouration / coating of your tongue? I maintain a good oral hygiene but I find I have a sweet tasting/tingling feeling on my tongue for hours after smoking a bowl. There are so many questions I have so get ready....

Try smoking Virginias and Va/Pers from a pipe with a very narrow bowl/chamber. I have found that this drastically helps control the heat because the ember is small. I have all my narrow bowled pipes dedicated to Virginia-based tobaccos for this reason.

I smoke a little fast myself. I recently got a clay tavern pipe. I think it's a 16 inch. Smokes cool because of the length. Just can't hold it by the bowl. Gets hot as a skillet! Great pipe for smoking fast and it doesn't need to rest. Soon as it cools down you can reload and keep smoking.

I personally just got started a couple weeks ago. I plan on smoking once a week as many bowls that I want at a time. Usually two to three bowls. I have one session on Saturday night to help me signify the end the week. A reward for making it through the week. I like to contemplate the week I had and the week up coming. I’m worried about addiction so I try to limit myself.

I am new to pipes and love your channel, keep the videos coming because it has helped. What I like most is your live and let live attitude so to speak on what was may be best.For example, I pretty much have to hold my pipes. I am a long time cigarette and more recently little cigar smoker, with an occasional regular cigar thrown in. For several days now, I have have been strictly smoking the pipe, which tastes great comparatively. And,not smoking things that I in hale are a little better for me. This video interested me because as I have given up those things the last few days I have found myself going from 2 pipes to maybe 5-6. Now, I only have two pipes and one has a fairly small bowl, so that may not be as much as it sounds. That bring me to a request if possible. I would like to see a video explaining bowl sizes, some of the issues associated with small bowls versus larger bowls and tip on how to deal with those issues. I have not seen a video of yours that covers this. If I have overlooked such a video please let me know. Thanks again for the awesome channel brother and happy piping!

You mentioned cadence in this video, and maybe its because all of your pipe smoking has you so darned relaxed... but my personal preference for your "cadence" is to speed up your videos to 1.25x speed. I feel that this is the sweet spot. You are so chill and deliberate with your words that it clashes with my expectations of fast talking. lol Keep up the good work!
On the contrary, his cadence actually improves my cadence as my smoking cadence is normally a bit too fast.

Muttonchop if a blend smokes to hot, mix a little straight Black Cavendish with it. It will tend to make the blend a little sweeter and it will burn slower.

6-7 bowls a day here, used to be a 2 pack a day cigarette smoker, just got into the pipes again and love it, Mac Baren vanilla creme is my first and last smoke of the day, and I usually smoke Mr. Bs Canadian winter throughout the day. Using my Brigham chinook and LOVE it.

I have the same problem, that's where the log comes in to play, for me at least I can't remember how many times I smoke a certain blend, so I log it, then at the end of the year I will probably be surprised at how many times I go back to certain blends. 👍
Currently deployed, and I’ve been doing 2-3 bowls per evening 😬 I’ve also been having a bowl of early morning pipe most mornings after breakfast.
VA and VaPers I smoke really close to going out and I'm ok relighting 10-15 times if I have to. If I have thick smoke I slow down. I also just let it go out instead of trying to take quick puffs to try to get it going again. Though I did start smoking cigars before pipes so I was already smoking slower. Also, try using matches instead of a lighter (though i think you're a match user already.) The flame difference is over 400*F and can affect the flavor quite heavily. Between using only matches and not worrying about re-lights my experiences are way better with more consistent flavor and enjoyable flavor.
I think that's what I am doing wrong, I like lots of smoke, which I know is wrong, but I can't help puffing away, but I will take your suggestions and keep trying. I'll get there, it will just take some practice thanks for viewing and being a sub.
Your right, I really enjoy lots of smoke, but you can't get that with Va, and Va/Per's I just have to practice, and train myself to slow down. I'll try your suggestions, hopefully with some practice I'll get there. Thanks, and thank you for being a senior.

Which tobacco product do you think is the most relaxing? And also, your tobacco is in jars. Do you take them out of the bags they arrive in and put them there? Why?
There is no real answer for the first question, it’s like drinking coffee, everyone likes it different, and for the second question, I use mason jars to keep the tobacco fresh and moist.

On the weekdays, 4 ~ 6 bowls... before lunch. Then about the same after lunch, but depends how late I stay up. Might sneak one or two more in if I’m up late working.
I smoke a bit less on the weekends because our family is on the go.
I smoke a bit of 1Q, Haunted Bookshop, Creme Brûlée, Gaslight, Jackknife, and Quiet Nights with the stronger blends being my early morning and late evening smokes.
Ryan Russell - That’s about how much I smoke on the weekends as well, less during the week because of my work schedule, right now during the winter my main rotation is a light English in the morning, usually Early Morning Pipe, then a Va/Per usually firestorm, or Elizabethan, then in the afternoon I smoke a deeper English like G. L. Pease Westminster, might sneak in an Aromatic after dinner like CAO Eileen’s Dream as a desert smoke, then later that evening another deep English like Gaslight, or Nightcap. 👍👍👍

4-5 small to average size bowls daily of English blends (oriental forward latakia or a vaper) and 1 bowl of aromatic tobacco as a "dessert smoke" to end the night

I too enjoy English blends in the evening.
I'm a big fan of full flavored blends like Dunhill Nightcap. It is very aptly named. Once you smoke that, you're pretty much finished for the day.
Also, I prolly average 1-2 bowls a day during the week and double that on the weekends.
So maybe a little less than you, but not much.
I smoke outdoors though so during the coldest months I don't smoke nearly as much.
I have never tried Dunhill Nightcap because frankly I'm a nicotine middle weight, I have heard it can deliver guide a kick. I can handle nicotine but only to a point, once that point is reached I am miserable for the next 3 hours, so I try to stay in my comfort zone. 😁
+Muttnchop Piper while Nightcap does have a decent nicotine content, it is no worse than several other blends. If you can handle Elizabethan Mixture, I don't think you'll have any trouble with Nightcap. I think they're about on par with each other.
If you have it after a meal I think you'll be fine. You could also try it in a smaller bowl so you're not getting so much if you're concerned about it.
Just off the top of my head I can think of several that deliver a stronger Vitamin N hit.
Royal Yacht, Peterson Irish Flake and Sam Gawith 1792 Flake are all substantially stronger.

I smoke between 4 and 7 bowls a day. I smoke in my car so the more work I do out of my truck on a give. Day really ups the tobacco smoking. I've found that my go to tobacco of late is Lane Crown Achievement. It's an English blend, which I prefer, and it has the right amount of perique. If you haven't tried it I highly recommend it.

I am trying to train myself/ work on tasting flavors, that is one of the most difficult parts of pipe smoking to me (most of the time I just discern whether I like it or not, haha).
I had a question for you. Have you ever tried Ashton Smooth Sailing? I like it myself, but I’m trying to work on tasting it’s particular flavors.

1 do you still smoke capstan and escudo? If so, do you find that the pipe you smoke it with seems tart or slightly sour after a couple of bowls? I have that sourness after and i don't think it is sour pipe but not sure what to do
2 you smoke Fusiliers, but have you tried whiteknight?
A couple of questions: I seldom smoke aromatics, but I notice that you have Old Toby jarred on your "Middle-Earth shelf". I've heard so many good things about that blend that I am seriously considering trying it. Would you give your opinion on it, its good points and its drawbacks? Secondly, I most often start the day with Early Morning Pipe and end the evening with Nightcap, both blends I learned to love when they were put out by Dunhill but find no difference in the current Peterson offerings. You listed neither as regular smokes of your own. Any reason why not? Thanks for this vid.

Great video Muttn, lately ive been smoking sparingly lately maybe once or twice a month. but when i do smoke I SMOKE LOL problay around 5 or 6 bowls a day. one of my favorites lately has been a concoction of my own. i call it Lanes revenge which is 2 parts Queen annes revenage(sutlif) and 1 part Lane 1q. Its really wonderful after a few months of sitting in jars.

That is a lot of smoking. I can at most smoke 2 bowls a day, I'm pretty sensitive to nic and caffeine (makes sense since they bond to the same receptor). It's a blessing and a curse, forces me to really regulate how much I consume of either, otherwise I get a lot of anxiety and insomnia.

And great video this one. I've been facing a similar problem with virginias. I love the taste, the smell. I've tried to slow down the rhythm of puffs but it still tends to give me a mild tongue bite. Do you think that if I tried some mixed tobbaco it would be better? I'd rather choose some very mild mixture (a little of the processed cavendish could change this burning?) because the virginia taste is just incredible to me. First of all thanks Bruno, my goal when I started this channel was to get right to the point, and teach those that are in need the information they are seeking, I am glad it's coming across that way, now to your question, for some reason oriental leaf does not give me tongue bite, or irritate my tongue condition, so I would suggest getting some Grand Oriental Drama Reserve, and first try it, if you like it then mix some of the Virginia you love with some Drama Reserve, about 70% Virginia with 30% drama, see if that does the trick. 👍👍😃
Although I've never tried Grand Oriental Drama Reserve, as I enjoy pretty much Turkish/Oriental tobacco, it could be a nice choice by itself! Besides, all McClelland tobacco I've smoked were very good. I will definitely try this mixture 70/30%. Thank you very much!

On work days I’ll smoke about 3 a day. On days off about 5. Wish I had more days off.
If I have nothing going on and it's nice outside, I'll go through 6-10 bowls. Its usually 1-2 bowls on a normal work day depending on when I get home. The tobaccos and pipes I choose just depends on my mood.
Yes....mood has a lot to do with the tobacco I choose as well, it's funny, I'll get home stand in front of my tobaccos and for some reason a tobacco will just appeal to me over all others, so I grab it and light me up a bowl. Thanks for sharing and watching my video 😎

Im pretty much a fall/winter pipe smoker so this may be a stupid question, do you break out a different pipe for each smoke? Such as one for work, one for morning, one for evening? Or is it for each type of tobacco?
I have 2 sets of pipes, one set for Aromatics, and a set for Non-Aromatics, I usually smoke Non-Aromatics most of the time, and I usually smoke 3 to 4 times a day using the same pipe for each smoke, I do a light cleaning between smokes, clear out the ash from the previous smoke, use a pipe cleaner to sweep away the ash on the bowl walls. And then run a couple of pipe cleaners down from the mouthpiece to the heal of the pipe. Then load up and smoke another bowl.

Ok, a Vaper is short for a Virginia, Perique blend, VA for the state of Virginia’s state abbreviation, and PER for the first letters in The Perique Blending tobacco, Virginia is also a type of blending tobacco.
I couldn't agree more with a ”deep English” to finish off your day. Personally, all I smoke are English blends. I have to ask what is your favorite deep English blend?

Muttnchop Piper, I absolutely love your videos sir. The only piper I subscribe to on RUclips actually. My question is, are most all of your pipes smoked indoors? I once smoked a half bowl of an aromatic inside and the wife was NOT happy with me. She said it smelled horrible, and I think I had to agree with her, it didn't sell nice at all. It was 1Q. I figured I'd try the most popular blend to pull off an indoor smoke!
If you do smoke indoors mostly, do you notice a pretty nasty smell in your smoking room at all? Maybe I'm just doing it wrong :)

kleraudio - thank you my friend, I am Honored by your kind words. I have a unique situation when it comes to smoking in my house. First my Smoking Parlor is on one side of the house, and where my wife spends the majority of her time is on the other side. Two - we have central air and the air intake with a filtering unit is located right outside the parlor door in the ceiling with the circulating fan always on, as I smoke my pipe the smoke is drawn in to the intake of the central air unit and filtered, so it's very rare my wife smells my tobacco smoke. You can purchase an air purifier that essentially douse the same thing, it's a fan with a filtering unit attached, that might be a solution for you. 👍👍👍

I will smoke either an average sized bowl of EMP in the mornings on the drive to work or a very Latakia forward English blend (usually Comoy's English). Unfortunately this is only in summer when my girlfriend can sit comfortably with the windows down and not get too cold as we work the same job and I drive her in every morning. Then maybe twice or three times a week I will smoke a small bowl of an aromatic on the way back from the gym. At the moment I smoke maybe 4/5 bowls a week. In summer I smoke more. Love our hobby

Great Videos; I would love a smoking parlour. I do have a question about pipes if may? are tobacco pipes only any good for tobacco or could you smoke other natural, aromatic substances in them? I found this channel after looking on amazon at A.P Donavan pipes!

If it counts for anything, a few of the health related studies found benefits from smoking in moderation. The merits of the health benefits can be debated for sure, but mainly I was interested to find what they considered to be moderation. The consensus seemed to be four or fewer bowls per day. Which is about what I smoke as a minimum per month.
Jonathan Clark I agree, I think smoking a pipe in moderation is healthier then not smoking at all, the relaxation in smoking a pipe I feel extends your life, that's just my personal opinion, no evidence exist to support my opinion. 👍👍👍
