    Country #21 is SLOVENIA (!!!!!) 🇸🇮 After choosing to visit Austria, we spent several days researching its surrounding countries, and we quickly decided that we HAD to see Slovenia. As always, we believe one of the best ways to get to know a country is through its food, so we dove right in and ate our hearts out in Ljubljana. 😋 Have you ever tried Slovenian food? 🌾
    Next week, we’ll be sharing our day trip from Ljubljana to the world famous Predjama Castle and Postojna Cave, so get ready for a video filled with adventure! 🏰 See you next Saturday! 😁

    It is absolutely not necessary to fill every video with admiration. Slovenian food, as everywhere in Cisleithania, is unimaginative and primitive. Cabbage soup, boiled buckwheat and refried beans - what can be more boring. Try to dissolve your monotonous atmosphere of super excitement with a spice of irony, sarcasm and mockery. I would even say: let the irony and understatement prevail. Be funny.

    • @DamianP-n7b
      @DamianP-n7b Год назад +5

      Well, traditional foods are made of ingredients that were traditionally available in the region... I've travelled a bit of the world and no real traditional food anywhere on the globe that l've tried has been a gourmet experience. Only when you add ingredients from somewhere far they become more tasty and interesting.

    • @ErmakBrovar

      @@DamianP-n7b In my comment I was advising to dissolve the atmosphere of exaggerated “super excitement” with the pinch of irony and sarcasm regardless the reason why Slovenian food is boring. But you are right, Slovenian food is boring because it looks like a food of commoners.
      Talking about food in different parts of Cisleithania you can notice than not only traditional food there is boring. What can be more boring than boiled veal with boiled carrots in a broth they serve in high profile restaurants in Vienna? Or the breaded veal chop they are so proud of?
      At the same time traditional Italian, French, Spanish, Russian, Thai, Chinese, Indian and many other cuisines are bright and diverse.

      @@ErmakBrovar what is ltalian food without tomato sauce? And yes, Slovenian dishes are mainly those for commoners, but if any of these travellers would spend a bit more than a few € for a meal then they would have an experience you're talking about.

      @@DamianP-n7b but Italians had enought taste and fantasy to include tomato sauce, while Slovenians did not.

    • @valentintapata2268
      @valentintapata2268 Год назад +3

      @@ErmakBrovar It's clear that you don't know much about traditional food in general. Slovene food would be exotic for Asian people, for Central European people it is not, no wonder why. Nevertheless, does Edible dormouse (Glis glis) sound borring?, what about gibanica cake (several layers of apples, cottage cheese and poppy seeds), Soška postrv (marble trout), Bacon jam (bacon-based relish called zaseka), Blood sausages, Savinjski želodec (dried meat product named after the stomach), Kraški pršut (Prosciutto del Carso in Italian)? Considering the various geographical features of Slovenia and the influences from Italy, Austria, Hungary and the Balkans, we can say that Slovenian traditional food is very diverse. And then there are wines and brandys... Edit: we do use tomatoes you know. In Fact many Italians do appreciate Slovenian cuisine very much.
