The dbq writing is easy it has similar components like the AP Eng rhetorical essay. My biggest worry is the topics they choose.

Thank you so much for making this video. Before watching this, I didn't understand how to do DBQ's so I was getting C's and D's. I watched this before doing a DBQ on big business during the guilded age and I got a 95%! My APUSH teacher made a comment in my paper that my document analysis was very developed.

This is my first DBQ I’m writing and I honestly don’t know how to start...
My Dog step 1: after crying, focus on your thesis and how it could be an argument( don’t restate)
Step 2: *panic*
Step 3: repeat steps 1-2 until thesis found so you could build off of argument

I mean, @chin line said it perfectly. I've been doing these for over 3 YEARS and I still cant do them. Sorry im not very inspirational. You got this, just don't stress it too much, and use your LA skills for writing argumentative essays (they're very similar). And ask questions as much as you need. And Remember, teachers are there to help you, so dont be afraid to ask!!

@@alygeyer I got a 3(._.) i rushed and totally didn’t include any outside evidence I only focused on sourcing. I think I would have done great if I just studied but I didn’t after spring break and the test was like 3 months away lol 10/10 would not do again

First off skip reading all the colored pages (e.g. "Makers of America"). That
information most likely won't be on the AP test and everything you need
to know is in the main part (regular white pages) of the book. Same
thing goes for the captions of pictures. Focus on the normal, core text.
My second piece of advice is to really pay attention and absorb what
you read. It's quite easy to just go on "autopilot" mode and glaze over
the words. If you read a paragraph and someone were to ask you to
summarize it for them in one sentence, you should be able to do so
without having to reference the book. PROCESS EVERYTHING YOU READ! A
good way to build this habit is, each time you finish reading a
paragraph, summarize it quickly (in just a few words) in the margin. I
employed that strategy for the first half or so of AP Euro, and it
worked very well (while it was very time consuming, I did exceptionally
well on all my tests). This strategy functions similarly to training
wheels; it's helpful in the beginning, but eventually you won't need it
anymore since you'll be in the habit of summarizing automatically as you
read. My third piece of advice is to look up any words or people you're
not familiar with. I assume you're also planning on taking the SAT
soon, so knowing more vocab will certainly help. And if the Pageant
mentions, say, Andrew Hamilton, and you're like "Oh! I remember him! But
what was his political philosophy again?" then DONT BE LAZY! Look him
up in the book! Continuously review and refresh yourself as you go
along, and you'll be in much better shape in the future.

what book did u guys do? Im uusing Barron's. I plan oon reading 3 chapters everyding until April 17 so that I have the rest of the two weeks to use the AP practice book. but im not sure if I can read the book because I use the audio and it is very time consuming and I plan on skipping reading and just use the AP practice book since it already has those chapters there. is it okay if I go off the book?
+Ashley May I'm having a tough time understanding you. I, Abe, used Barrons while Frank used Princeton Review. We found both of them to simultaneously informative and concise. I don't suggest you attempt to read the American Pageant all over again before the AP Test. If you read through either Barrons or Princeton Review and do the practice questions/exams, you should be all set. Also, check out our videos on how to write the FRQ and how to write the DBQ for more help.
