- Hi everyone, welcome to my first ever ‘Get Ready With Me’ on my channel! Today I’ll be trying out some brand new drugstore makeup and talking to you about my background, my sometimes toxic relationship with social media, my anxiety & what inspired me to start a RUclips channel at the age of 40!
I hope it gives you a little insight as to why I created this channel & where I see the future of it ☺️

I absolutely watch your videos because of you - yes I’m interested in beauty reviews but there are thousands of other you tubers I could watch but I watch your reviews because you are honest, thorough and very easy to listen to. You never know what someone is going through. A lot of what you've said has mirrored my feelings and life (different experiences)the past few years. I came off social media too and YT is my go to in the evening. I've learned so much from it.

I just wanted to tell you that although you said in this video that viewers are not tuning in to see and learn about you, that is absolutely not true for me!! I find your honesty and conversations and content to be very calming and warm. I watch your videos because I feel relaxed listening to and watching you. You have a warmth and all around easy going way about you, and although you said that you have struggled with anxiety, that does not come through on camera for me. Your brow video popped up for me this morning. Brows being one of my biggest insecurities it totally resonated with me. This is the 3rd video of yours I watched and have enjoyed my Sunday morning tea time with you. You are a beautiful YOUNG woman. Yes, YOUNG! I will turn 70 this year and can still relate to the insecurities you expressed lines, pores, sagging skin, red blood vessels etc. Plus my very pale brows have virtually disappeared and I am loosing my hair ...Thank you menopause!! Someone posted a video of Met Gala attendees up close & unfiltered on You Tube. Watching that and finding you were my "Aha" moments this week. Thank you for your openness and honesty. Your channel popped up to me at a time when I was very vulnerable ( I had a left eye retinal detachment in October 2023) 2 operations were needed to 'correct' this causing nerve damage to my pupil and an advanced cataract. I had cataract surgery 3 days ago. Your channel has helped/continues to help me engage with my love of make up and skin care through some challenging times. I will always be grateful to you for this. I stopped participating on Facebook in 2019 during the run up to the U.S. General Election, and I AM SOOOO HAPPY I DID 🙌👍!! The platform became so hateful and toxic , that it began to chip away at my positivity and confidence looking towards the future . Well, it was a blessing in disguise, bcuz I was only 4 months post-op after 2 days of back surgery (totaling 17 hrs) when the pandemic hit ! I was quite susceptible to secondary infection , so I also had to make the best of a bad situation. I ordered a TON of affordable skincare and makeup products , and at 58 I learned how to correctly apply makeup and use skincare tailored to me 😊!! I always try to find a positive out of a negative 💁♀️👍!! I adore your channel and think you’re FABULOUS 🫶❣️🥰!!

Carmel, I had a problem with grief taking up my thoughts. One day I decided to limit my time of thinking about the grief. I said to myself, you can have ten minutes to think about this, then if you want ten more minutes, you must put a dollar in the jar on the shelf. This made me aware of how much time grief was stealing from my life. at the end of each month, I would empty the jar and spend that money on something that brought me joy. I do not need the jar anymore.

@@CarmelNicoleBeauty You are welcome Carmel. grief can be quite cleansing, but like bleach in the laundry, it can ruin things too. while I was afraid of the pain of sorrow, grief was splashing on everything in my life. when I embraced the pain of sorrow and thanked it for expressing my losses and my fears, I was then able to use the grief more carefully. I call on it when I need extraordinary strength. its great for that.
