Gene Hunt was quite possibly the best character you could possibly have
We need him back
They would never show a character like this nowadays, can you imagine the complaints from the pc brigade, so sad, absolutely loved this show, just watched the entire series of life on mars and ashes to ashes. Life on mars on Netflix and Ashes to Ashes on bbc i player ❤
@@zoefree3950 Nah, he'd be fine. The thing about being pc, Gene Hunt is purposefully portrayed as having faults, as we see him through the eyes of Sam and Alex. He isn't a goal anyone is suggesting people reach--the opposite. Sam (and Alex) change him to be better, to think better, to come out of what we all know is decades-old thoughts and show he's a real good guy underneath. TV needs more of that.
This was a welcome ray of sunshine in the world of stale boring tv. Need more of this.
I miss Life on Mars so much, you simply can't beat the Gene Genie.
A round of applause for, Philip Glenister "Da Guv" 👏 👏 👏 👏
Much like Tony Soprano, he was a character who said lots of stuff I disagreed with, but he often said it so creatively that I couldn't help but laugh along.
Great line. “If you were Pinocchio your nose would have poked my eyes out by now”
Lmao I literally just checked my subscriptions and found this gem. I remember tearing through Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes within like a week. Two great shows.
Did you watch the UK originals or the US versions or both?
@@hatednyc UK. The originals.
@@hatednyc There was no US version of Ashes to Ashes.
I binge watch them both atleast once a year. Absolute golden television.
The US version was absolutely shocking. Very bad tv.
Loved this when it was on the telly.
Hunt reminds me a little bit of my dad, not the foul language but how he gets things wrong
"He's got PTSD"
"He's a hero and you accuse him of having the clap"🤦♂️
Spastic in a magnet factory 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think you missed the Jews…
"Do you keep a journalist chained in your basement for random beatings Guv?"
"Don't have a basement"
The Guv only disagreed on the basement point...
I watched this on its arrival on British telly. I've watch it several times over the last couple of decades, and I'm watching a box set as of this moment. It has never aged. Gene Hunt is a fabulous character. Real, funny and bang on with the spirit of the 70's period.
Nobody has the nerve or bottle to write material like this anymore.
Long may Gene be available to all.
That animated bit, I almost fell out my chair.
Camberwick Green!!!!
Best program since the seventies
Best character in last 30yrs
Bring back Seventies sensibilities. (Minus the industrial scale noncery)
"I've got a young lad called Sam"
"I've got a pain in the arse called Sam."
😹
The first series of Life on Mars was brilliant, I loved it, Gene hunt for all his faults, like being completely politically incorrect, was my favourite character in Life on Mars.
Gene Hunt and Jack Regan would've been a bloody good pairing. Two peas from the same pod.....
Its The Master!
Brought back fond memories
Life on Mars was brilliant but sadly not even Gene Hunt could save Ashes to Ashes
@@Phoebus_Apollo absolutely it's down to that, but I'm going to stick with mine. Maybe it's because in Ashes, Gene was a BIT more modern, whereas in LoM he was such a polar opposite to the modern police portrayed by John Sim
Re watching...just brilliant. Reminds me of happier times
Bring the big fella back for another season! And....bring the Cortina with him!
Wasn't it a Granada?
Sorry, just re-watched it is a Cortina 😊
This show was fantastic
This pure Manc and I'm proud ❤
"I'll make you a hat." 😐
Gene Hunt left the Met and joined VicPol as Chief Thug. He left his sense of humour behind.
Absolutely brilliant.
STUART BATER, AAH! ,MASTUBATER LOVE IT!
Britain's answer to Dirty Harry
GH would have put boot in faster in 1973 but horrified the early 21st century😊never easy being an object of intense sexual desire
1. WHAT IS THIS SERIES ????
2. WHERE CAN I WATCH IT ???
Life On Mars
Iplayer and just got added back on Netflix
@@RichieReviewsTheDoctor Thank you, Sir ! I was laughing my a** off just watching the clip.
Epic character and a legendary performance by Phillip Glenister, can you imagine any show having a character like this nowadays, it’s sad that people get offended by fiction, so few decent shows anymore thanks to the pc brigade 🤷♀️
They wouldnt make this now, more's the pity. Brilliant show, brilliant characters.
Ahhh those were the days when people could say something without someone being a snowflake about it.
Too fast editing
You couldn’t make this now people would need counselling 🤦🏻♂️
Ahh the gene genie, superb
