I mean, the whole tradition behind Half-Life as a Series is that: 1. It takes long for a new game because every new Half-Life Game must do something new in the Gaming-Industry 2. Every single Half-Life Game ends on a cliffhanger So, if you factor both these traditions together (which I think are very vital to Half-Life's huge success), there will always be a very long wait between Half-Life Games and the story will never finish but instead always just end on a cliffhanger (this can be applied to every Half-Life including Alyx which wasn't even announced when you wrote your comment)
